C. Nolan's Interstellar - Part 2

To be fair to JGL, I thought his performance was pretty solid in TDKR... Too bad he had to play one of the, if not the most annoying character in the Nolan franchise.

I don't dislike the guy or anything, nor do I think he is particularly a bad actor- but he certainly isn't the second coming of Marlon Brando or anywhere close to that. As others have mentioned previously, there are many other actors who are just as good, if not better than JGL to be cast in this movie.

There's all kinds of actors past and present I think are miles ahead of Marlon Brando, so I don't really get him being used as the barometer and people like Crowe, Ledger, Hardy etc being called "the new Brando".

Also, as far as characters in the Nolan Batman trilogy, Rachel, Foley, Daggett, and random SWAT guy are all more annoying than Blake.

While there have certainly been better actors before and since Brando, he is often cited as popularizing certain styles of acting.

I can get a Brando/Hardy comparison, especially re: Warrior, where it was most often made, considering Hardy's acting style (and his mumbling way of talking).

Frankly, I prefer Crowe, Ledger, and Hardy over Brando though. In fact, the only thing I can really say I enjoyed Brando in was The Godfather.

He had a lot of "picking up a paycheck and not lifting a finger to hide it" roles.

The "____ is the next Brando" label thrown around every single hot actor of the moment annoys me to no end.

Especially when half of them are nothing whatsoever like Brando and some are also better actors than Brando ever was...

LMAO I love hearing the stories of how Nolan sends scripts to his actors.

That is great, lol. I love how protective they are of the latest draft even though though the 2008 draft already leaked. I'll bet Chris' draft is significantly different.

It's kinda funny how secretive they try to be and yet during the TDKR shoot, a casting sheet with the description of something as big as Talia revealing herself and stabbing Batman was just floating around on set for anyone to pick up. :hehe:

IMO it's really kinda pointless to be that secretive when, given how large these films are, major plot leaks are bound to happen during filming. I'm not saying that Nolan should just f**k all and release the script to the whole world, but some of these precautions are just outright silly.

It seems to work pretty well for him though. At this point it is bound to be a point of superstition for him. If you are successful for as long as he has been, you want to keep the same mojo going. One of these years there could be a really good book written about all the secrecy on these projects.

Chapter 1: Nolan tells his actors/crew not tell anybody.

Chapter 2: The End.

As Iron Man 3 showed though, the best way to keep is a secret is to completely act like you don't have any to keep.

Bale had chemistry with Emily Watson in Equilibrium, too.

I always thought Rachel and Bruce were never supposed to have chemistry, anyway, she was Bruce's idea of a normal life, but that was only in his head. Reality was different (vintage Batman).

As for JGL, I don't get it. He was supposed to be this detached tight-ass in Inception. Blake was a more controversial role, but I, too, will defend the otherwise lazy "I know who you are by looking at your eyes" scene, and thus the premise/arc of the character.

I think Arthur as a character would've worked better if he was played by an older actor. Older than JGL or Franco. Someone more bookish; think Edward Norton.

But then you'd have a Blake who'd be older than Wayne. Might as well have incorprated the part to Gordon (which is what many TDKR detractors wanted, anyway).

Man oh man, there is some severe anti-Nolan ******** in the Marvel forums here.

Go look at a thread in the Marvel films forum. The anti-Nolanites on this forum are every bit as bad as the diehard Nolanites used to be. Irrational hate.

You'd think with the financial success of the Avengers and IM3, they'd at least be happy enough.
