The Winter Soldier Captain America 2: News and Speculation - - - - - - Part 19

Disney CEO Stands Firm That Captain America 3 Won’t Move For Batman Vs. Superman

I'm going to assume that was supposed to be a link?

If yes, good for him. WB needs a lesson here, and that lesson is "don't try to blatantly elbow the competition."

So with Cap now receiving high profile status among the general audience as a result of the massive hit The Winter Soldier film unexpectedly turned out to be, I say that Avengers: Age of Ultron will definitely get even more publicity and that success and leverage will be an even bigger boost to ensure Cap 3 to open up big unless Marvel decides to push the release date to April since it worked out so well for CA:TWS.

I'm not surprised to hear it. After the positive reception for TWS and the rather lackluster MOS Marvel feels they have nothing to worry about, I'm sure.

I think 5/6/2016 will turn out to be less of the Marvel vs. DC battle that analysts and fanalysts think it will be, and will instead be more like International "Holy @#!&, What A Great Day for CBMs!" Day, with *most* people going to both movies that day.

This would be great. Officially called CBM Armistice day.

When watching the film again, I didn't take notice of it when I first watched it, but one the most memorable and subtle scenes for me is when Cap and Fury are in the elevator near the start talking about how time has changed. Steve brought up about how elevators used to play music for people to listen to and people would always say hello to each other. Fury would explain why people don't do that anymore. It was done so well and it's little moments like this scattered throughout the film that make the film so great.

Love that scene, I thought it was excellent. Also a real good example how things change over time, even in good neighborhoods.

I noticed there were a couple of ads for upcoming WB films Blended and Godzilla during AoS last night. I'm calling it, they've done some kind of backroom deal and they'll use the "competition/game of chicken" to raise interest in both films while keeping us all in suspense but when all is said and done I think BvS's gonna move to sometime in June/July.

So when is the DVD and BluRay for CA:TWS coming out?

In my mind I keep imagining classic 616 white Nick Fury as his grandfather.

August 12th in the tentative release date. No word so far if they're continuing with that early digital download option.

Some of SLJ's best acting as Fury, IMO.

Eh, that's a stretch too far. Everybody advertises on all channels. ABC would get itself into a ton of trouble if it openly favored Disney products.

I know what you're saying but I don't know it's just some kind of intuition/vibe that I'm getting. For instance I don't recall any ads for DoFP but might have seen one McDonald's tie-in for TASM2. The fact that the WB ads are the film trailers I remember says a lot and I recall seeing ads for TDW and TWS and the last few weeks there's been TASM2 and DoFP, just last night seemed different. Fox and Sony had the DoFP clip in TASM2 end credits. The distribution boss at Disney is Alan Horn who is former WB. I just get the feeling that behind the scenes they may have made some kind of agreement, maybe help promote WB films via ABC on the cheap and/or in prime spots, in exchange BvS will move to June/July, the usual months that WB has had success and maybe Marvel/Disney will make sure that the final BvS trailer is attached to all prints of Cap3.

Add to that Iger coming out saying they ain't moving I think WB has already agreed to move but both sides agree that the competition and suspense will benefit both films as far as promotion goes. Manufactured controversy is free publicity, but in the end while I'd see both opening day that's not the case with all of the general audience and the films going head to head will most likely mute/subdue the stand alone grosses for each film but still probably be the biggest box office weekend in history.

'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' is the most political (and subversive) superhero movie ever made'

And so I was legitimately shocked and impressed and fascinated when I reached the middle of Captain America: The Winter Soldier — SPOILERS FROM HERE — and got to the scene where the movie clearly states that our modern intelligence apparatus and our whole system of national security was invented by some of the greatest villains of the 20th Century. And worse: Like the vampires of the pre-glitter period, HYDRA was welcomed in by their victims, freely and of their own will. In real-world terms, Winter Soldier basically says that the NSA was invented by Nazis…and that we let it happen, insisted even, giving up our freedom because we were too afraid to do anything else. EW critic Owen Gleiberman pointed out in his review that the villain in Winter Soldier is really the military-industrial complex. And that villain has accomplices, accessories, and henchmen who help the bad guys by doing nothing. To paraphrase Pogo: We have met the enemy, and they is us.

Which parallels Tony Stark's battles in IM3. Or *all* the IM movies, for that matter.

Tony and Steve have a common enemy in the military-industrial complex. That's why I continue to be mystified when fan speculation both here and on other sites tends to gravitate towards wild theories about these guys wanting to head up/rebuild SHIELD, build killer robots for SHIELD, or that the Avengers will have anything to do with SHIELD (or any other government) from here on.
