The Dark Knight Rises Cast The Dark Knight Returns

He's far too old now, but Clancy Brown back when he did Higlander would have made the perfect Mutant Leader.

I've changed my Catwoman choice back to Ann-Margret. Other than that, my cast is pretty much the same.

Jack Nicholson is a fantastic actor, but he's all wrong for DKR Joker. DKR Joker is slim and effeminate, neither of which I see in Jack. Suggestions like Bowie or Peter O'Toole are much closer to the mark.

This is The Joker from DKR. He does not look slim at all here. He looks quite buff, actually. He's definitiely effeminette. I'll give you that.

Jack could pull it off IMO. He's one of the finest actors ever, IMO only Brando is ahead of him. I loved his Joker in B89. I view it as the ideal version of the character. He could pull it off again. O'Toole is in his 70s'. If we can't have Eastwood as Batman, then O'Toole won't work as Joker. Bowie would be a solid second choice.

Robin is a hard role to cast. Knightley seems best suited for it IMO, regardless of age.

I don't think Jack Nicholson is as great an actor as everyone seems to believe, but I'm not trying to start a fight.

And I honestly believe that Keira Knightley would NOT be able to pull off Carrie Kelly

Nicholson is a fantastic Joker, but he is dead in the movie world. Michael Keaton could make for an intresting DKR Bats, but you cant have Keaton without Nicholson - that would not make any sense. The only way to do TDKR is with either new actors, set it in the Nolanverse or make it animated - my prefered option.

animated could kick ass, but only if they poured a LOT of money into it.

Now that Brando is dead, Nicholson is the greatest living actor.

You obviously haven't seen many of his movies.

I accept your opinion, but I completely disagree with you.

Yeah I haven't really. Some things I say should be ignored. Other should be taken very very seriously. This is one of the ignored ones.

See the following films:

Easy Rider
Five Easy Pieces
Carnal Knowledge
The King Of Marvin Gardens
The Last Detail
Chinatown
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
The Shining
Reds
Terms Of Endearment
Prizzi's Honor
The Witches Of Eastwick (not as groundbreaking as endearing as his other works, but he plays the best Satan of the silver screen, along with Pacino in Devil's Advocate)
Newsradio (a small role, but still a great film or so I'm told since I haven't seen it)
Batman (chances are you've seen this one)
A Few Good Men
Hoffa
Wolf (underrated)
The Crossing Guard (one of Jack's most diverse roles)
As Good As It Gets
About Schmidt (my parents said it was boring, but he did get an Oscar nom. But be warned: Kathy Bates is nude in this movie)
Anger Management (far from his best work, but showcases hwo great of a comedic actor he is)
Something's Gotta Give

I named over 20 of those films there. Out of those 20, 12 of them had performances for which he received Oscar nominations. He won three of them. More nominations than any other actor in history. Granted, there are a few films up there I haven't seen, but I've seen the majority of them, plus I'm a huge Nicholson buff and these are the films that fellwo Nicholson fans generally list as his best.

I just saw this subject and its something i ve been talking about with a friend for a while now. It should definetly be set in a realistic gritty gotham like Nolans city. Tom Sellec has the perfect looks with the 'tash' and the well built body but do you know whose looks reminded me of bruce in DKR. Pierce Brosnan from 'The Matador'. I dont mean his acting but his looks with the tash and the built body. I like Bruce Willis but he would be just 'Bruce Willis in a batman suit'

I love Pierce as an actor (not just for Bond), but I don't see the resemblance at all. Then again, Bruce is in the cowl in that pic. Even though about 20 years too old for the part and a little thin, Clint is still the actor who most closely resmebles DKR Bats.

Also, I'm not changing my choices of Gibson and Ford, but what about Michael Madsen as DKR Bats? A little too young but I think he can pull it off.

Ya know......I think I would love to see Eastwood in it....but, he's honestly too old.

Now, Eastwood make the PERFECT elder Wayne from BATMAN BEYOND. I mean, the guys IS that role.

Yeah...Nicholson could be the DKR Joker.

After much thought, I've decided to change my choice for DKR Bats. I know I will be endlessly flamed for it, but I'm going with Denzel Washington. Race aside, he's a perfect fit IMO. He's around the right age, he looks the part, and is one of the actors in the 50 and over age range who have the muscular physique that Bruce had in DKR. Add to the fact he's one of the finest actors ever, and you have a perfect fit for the part.

Denzel all the way.

If you get over the race change, Denzel Washington is an excellent choice.

By the way, isn’t Nicholson too old for DKR Joker?

I think most people will accept Denzel as Bats. Pretty much everyone here agrees that if any black actor should play Batman, it would have to be Denzel.

And after giving it much thought, I've changed my Joker choice as well. I'm going with John Glover.

At this point, my cast is:

Batman / Bruce Wayne - Denzel Washington

The Joker - John Glover

Alfred Pennyworth - Anthony Hopkins or Christopher Lee

i like the Denzel casting, but it doesnt flow with me. Dont get me wrong, if Batman were an african-american character, Denzel is the most blatently obvious choice for the role. And he would probably do a damn good job at playing the character. But Batman is a white character, and not to sound racist, it should always be that way.

as for Batman, ive been paying attention to Ed Harris lately, and he's one of my choices for Bruce. Put some hair on that man's head now! If not him, im still all for Bruce Willis.

and someone said David Bowie for Joker. if Bowie can do an American accent, that casting is genius. There's always been something creepy about him...just look at the Diamond Dogs album cover. Stare at Bowie on that cover...it's creepy.

You're right, David Bowie would rule as Joker!

he just has this intimidating stare.

someone should do a manip

I totally wouldnt mind seeing an alternate-reality black batman, but I think DKR is the wrong place to do it.
