Chapter 11: "Powerless" discussion thread 12/03

I think Abbadon means the way to kill Adam...which is a good point. I'm not sure on that....

Jeez dude, are we all a bunch of molecular biologists and virologists in here? Matt didn't know that the virus was suspended in solution and I nicely cleared that up for him.

oh....:whatever:

Dude. You responded to that after page 11. I even addressed it in my post that I was on page 11 when gave that ^ response.

About your response:

What the hell difference does the "solution" make? No virus on earth can withstand that kind of heat. There's certain bacteria that actually lives on volcano vents, and can withstand around 400 degrees fahrenheit of heat. To vaporize the glass tube, as Peter did, he had to have been working with a MINIMUM of 2000 degrees (melting point), although to turn it completely into ash, he had to have been MUCH higher than that. Any nincompoop can deduct that NO living thing which, the last time I checked, a virus is, will withstand that - SOLUTION OR NOT.

Common sense bro. WHY do we boil things in water to make things sterile? Oh wait. It's the "solution" of water, right?

:whatever: right back at you.

Haha, tell me more about bacteria and viruses. When you're done, I'll tell you what I have my degree in.

For old time's sake :whatever:

Going back on topic (the episode), did anyone else sense that Elle liked it, when she realized how appreciated she was, when she acted like a "hero", instead of being a villain for the company? A turning point for her, perhaps?

That's what I figured.

I would deffinetley love to see this change in character. Kirsten Bell is too awesome to get rid off IMO.

Ooooo. We're talking "degrees" now. Okay, I'll bite: What exactly did this "degree" of yours tell you about solutions that don't allow viruses to survive thousands of degrees? You seemed to imply that that was important, somehow. :wow:

This finale was decent, they did end it pretty well considering the whole writer's strike thing.

haha, that's Ralphie in your av right, tyler?

Heh. The virus was suspended in buffer solution. That's probably what Matt thought would become gaseous. Never said the solution would protect it

Matt had a simple misunderstanding and it was cleared up with about 4% of the pompousness you did it with

I usually reserve my pompousness for Matt and his Debbie Downer ways. He seems to revel in coming in here to simply prove how much smarter than the writers he is. You just got caught in the crossfire.

Or maybe you jumped in. :brucebat:

but even if the virus was liquid, it could never survive being superheated by nuclear energy. I think.:ninja:

I made a mistake. It looked to be a liquid. That led me to think it was man-made as opposed to biological. Sort of like a chemical weapon and therefore could take a gaseous state.

How about you reserve your pompousness all together when it comes to addressing fellow posters with differing opinions, otherwise you can take a couple days off. Mmk?

I just started the episode so I gotta ask, why the hell doesn't Peter just walk through the dame vault door?

It's a tv show he saved the world, get over it. (commenting on the whole liguid/gaseous virus)

Anybody notice the Popeye reference, as Sylar cured himself he became stronger, he used his telekinesis to grab the Spinach can.

I feel bad for Micah, he's lost both his parents in one season.

You have a point why didn't he walk through and open it on the other side.

Hakuna Matata Dr. carrrnuttt :D

I dunno if anyone has discused this but if HRG is healed.... Why does he still wear glasses? :p

Vaults usually don't have the same mechanisms as doors, where you can just open it from either side. Well, especially on the outside, but I think that includes the inside also. People being locked inside vaults has been a plot tool in movies and TV for some time now. Batman even used it. :brucebat:

Anyhow. Peter could have phased in and phased out with the virus, but I'm not sure if he knew that he can extend this ability to things he's holding/touching.

And... he doesn't even know the layout of the vault, what the virus looks like, where exactly it is, anything that might be in between him and the virus, any security measures in there, and etc.

Yeah, but Peter didn't need to bring the virus with him. He could have destroyed it and walked out. Just like he destroyed it anyway. I mean, what did he think Adam was going to do to get rid of it?

I think Peter is very susceptible to influence. Adam says jump, Peter says how high.

That, and he's a moron. A lot of the characters were idiots this season, I hate to say it. This season had some pretty slopping writing as far as characterization goes - everyone had to act like an idiot for the plot to move along. (though I still enjoyed it).
