Chapter 11: "Powerless" discussion thread 12/03

great episode, it's sad that the season had to be cut short, but it could have been way better than the first
was I the only one expecting Hiro to say "Hello, my name is Hiro Nakamura, you killed my father, prepare to die", then Adam to wield his sword and run?

What the hell is Pandoras Box?

Never heard of Pandora's Box? Basically that was a metaphor for all the bad things that are to come from the assassination.

As for who did it, I also believe it was Noah.

Correct is just a metaphor. Another saying would be they opened a can of worms, but that just doesn't sound as good.

Heh no, me and my roommate actually kept saying that every time Hiro said something about killing Adam. Hiro is adorable but it really wasn't super smart of him to just throw Adam into a coffin... Buffy and The Bride both managed to get out, Adam will too.

It was a clever way of them to resolve the conflict but yet still be able to bring back Adam later on, with out it being super far fetched. Although think about it though eventually he would run out of air wouldn't he? So eventually in time he would die from lack of oxygen.

it's a Greek myth. it contained all the evils of the world. she opened it out of curiosity and released the evils and blights upon the world. Prometheus closed the box before "hope" could escape. Pandora was Zeus' punishment to man for Prometheus giving fire (light, knowledge, etc.) to man.

My guesses...

Claire will get wind of Nathan's shooting.

She knows the power that her blood now holds.

She'll help revive Nathan, find out that they(Claire and her bio Dad and Uncle)all have the same objectives of revealing the company and people like them.

Followed by serious reprecussions and drama after that.

The most shocking thing about this episode for me wasn't even the ending, but it was what Hiro did to Adam. That was freaking sick.

Yup it was the definition of bad assery.

Kensei could die if left in the ground too long though. Eventually the oxygen will run out and if his brain doesn't get oxygen it will shut down and along with it his powers. So it was hardly a Infinite Imprisonment, just a prolonged death.

I doubt he'll kick the bucket though...next Vol is called "VILLAINS!" haha :cwink: :banhulk:

Why can't Peter use his blood?

Is Peter aware of this though? That his own blood can heal?

I know that Claire knows.

Well he saw Adam do it, that would be my logical conclusion. Then again, peter hasn't always been the sharpest tool in the box. Nor is he me.

Yeah, I guess it's better than the whole thing thye have going where everyone comes back from the death :whatever: heh. I know he would eventually die from lack of oxygen but people have gotten out of that situation before, besides, we don't know how these self-healing people work, if they die from lack of Oxygen, will they only stay dead until someone opens the coffin and they can suddenly breath again?

Either way,the writers need to bring Nathan back.Of all the useless new characters they introduce, only 2 of them panned out well.Plus Nathan had no small screentime,it would be dumb of them to lost such a quality cast member.Same goes for Anders.

Yea good point :(

They probably killed him off in order to create a story line of how its going to effect peter and him being good or bad. Think about it he was going to hurt hero after he had already knocked him out. So there is a bit of a dark side.

As for his blood, the only ones that knew it could bring anyone back from death was HRG, Suresh, Bob and Claire. Peter didn't know the extent and the episode did end before the issue could even be addressed.

I think it's strange that they offed what are arguably the two biggest names in the cast (at least, before Heroes).

I suspect that neither death will stick.

LMAOL. Yep, everyone dies and the villain gets powers back.

That was my take on it too. How magneto of him ;)

What exactly did Hiro say to Ando about Adam? And if Adam starves in that coffin, he can still die can't he...?
technically yes. No food, no protein, no healing. But what if part of the power is the body creating more protein to heal

Pasdar's supposed to be coming back to play Arthur Petrelli.

what the hell?!

Im hoping when Vol.3 comes around they resolve the Peter/future thing and have him go and get whats her name out of the future.

no leave her be. She was completely useless! the series didn't get going until she was gone.

so i guess irish girl is nuthin but a memory now

thank the lord!:dkm:

For those posters saying that the shooter is HRG solely because of glasses on the figure walking away. Remember, in the picture of the Twelve that was part of Volume 2, the image pointed out as Papa Petrelli also wore glasses similar to HRG's. Personally, I did not see glasses on the shooter.

And, I would think Peter would at least TRY to save Nathan with his blood since he did witness Adam heal Nathan from radiation burns, and logically he would assume that he had the power since he was with Adam for so long. I'm not saying it has to work, but they should at the very least show him trying next volume. (I get the feeling that Adam developed that power over time.)

It would be SO awesome if Papa Petrelli was the one who killed Nathan. Now THAT would be a storyline... the shooter, to me, seemed to have a similar walk to HRG, and HRG is the Company's best man (who needs to be loyalty-insured) so it only makes sense that HRG would be the one to do it.

on Kensei's burial:
The ONLY Way to kill these guys is to blow their heads off. Just like stabbing them in the neck "kills" them, but they come back as soon as you remove it, suffocating them "kills" them, but as soon as they get oxygen, they'll burst back to life, heal any deterioration and be good as new. As soon as the killing object is removed they come back to life. We've seen this over and over again. Suffocation is not going to be magically different.

When Angela referred to "Pandora's Box", I think she might have been also slightly referring to the wrath they might have awakened in Peter. Imagine a wrathful, revengeful Peter.

I like it.

What the hell is Pandoras Box?

I think Ma Petrelli was referring to Peter as being Pandora's Box. She made it obvious that she knows how powerful and dangerous Peter can be, when she hinted that Parkman may have to shoot Peter in the head. Everything Peter does is derived from his emotions. And Nathan's apparent death could possibly send him over the edge, causing his emotions to truly control his actions. So I think Ma Petrelli fears the state of mind that Peter will now be in. Peter's powers have been rather dormant until this past episode. Now Ma Petrelli nows she has awoken a sleeping giant.

It would be cool to see Peter 'step over to the Darkside'...if just temporary, next season. Matt should tell him that his own mother wanted him(Matt) to shoot him in the head. This plus the death(?) of big bro, could send him over the edge, as others have speculated. He could truly be pandora's box...his powers are limitless.

I just finally got to watch it. Overall my views on the episode were kinda negative :/ Kensei totally got shafted. To devote like the whole season to him, only to end up seeing him stuck in the box for like 2 seconds- nothing more ?
The virus getting destoyed was also very anti-climatic.
Bring back Nathan!!
