Chapter 11: "Powerless" discussion thread 12/03

on Kensei's burial:
The ONLY Way to kill these guys is to blow their heads off. Just like stabbing them in the neck "kills" them, but they come back as soon as you remove it, suffocating them "kills" them, but as soon as they get oxygen, they'll burst back to life, heal any deterioration and be good as new. As soon as the killing object is removed they come back to life. We've seen this over and over again. Suffocation is not going to be magically different.

I think suffocation ought to work. In the real world (as opposed to TV Land) a brain that is deprived of oxygen starts to die. I mean the neurons and whatever other cells make up the brain will actually die, not just shut down. If he was deprived of air long enough for his entire brain to die (and I don't know how long that would take), then I think Adam should be beyond revival.

I also think decapitation should work; as long as the head was kept separated from the body, to prevent it healing back together.

When Angela referred to "Pandora's Box", I think she might have been also slightly referring to the wrath they might have awakened in Peter. Imagine a wrathful, revengeful Peter.

I like it.

i totally agree. We saw it was nathan that stopped him before. Without Nathan Peter is dangerous

I wonder what the next big disaster will be? We've already done bombs and viruses...what's next? Both at once?! Or maybe...the worlds weather getting thrown out of wack like in that movie the day after?

Well that was a great ending to volume 2. What Hiro did to Kenzo was the deinifition of awesomeness. And the potnetial of Peter being ready to kick ass against the people he feels wronged him is going to be great.

I just hope Nikki didn't die. :csad:

i bet the third seoson is gonna be way better than the second one.

how come the second seoson only have like 10 episodes? anyone?

Technically the season isn't over. The second season was supposed to be divided into 2 volumes, "Generations" and "Villains". The show was supposed to go on break after Generations and pick up after the new year for Villains. The writers strike extended that break, so now we dont know when the show will resume.

I wouldn't count Niki and Nathan out just yet. It was never actually said that they died. We can presume they did, but we'll have to wait til next season to be sure.

Actually...

Three Heroes Have Fallen—Who Will Rise? We all know Claire's blood can save the world and pretty much everyone in it, so who'll get the hot cheerleader injection (wait, that sounded dirty) and come back to the show? Based on what I'm hearing from inside sources, here's where I'd put my money...
Ali Larter

Ali Larter: According to Heroes insiders, Niki is not expected to return to the show. But her devilish alter ego, Jessica? Oh yeah, we'll see her as soon as the show comes back to the beloved airwaves—when the strike is through! At least, that's the plan according to sources who tell me producers had "done all they could do" with Niki. Micah is not gonna be happy. But at least he'll have Monica...
David Anders

David Anders: I'd bet my beloved, signed Hiro poster that Hiro's sworn nemesis will return. (I've seen that '90s flick The Vanishing and know people can be dug up after being buried alive! Maybe we can even get Kiefer Sutherland to do the digging!) Sources tell me it's not set in stone, but the tentative plan is for Adam Monroe to be back to torment our favorite squinty teleporter—i.e., the "carp." Here's hoping he does.
Adrian Pasdar

Adrian Pasdar: I've heard the production and writing staff is somewhat split as to whether Nathan should return to the show. Allow me to be the first to say WTF? Heroes without the brothers would be like Prison Break or Brothers & Sisters without the brothers: a waste of time! Surely Claire's blood can save her own father, right?! Let's say a little prayer for the older Petrelli, shall we?

Also in this episode...

Peter's powers—picked a peck of pickled peppers? How great is Milo Ventimiglia mixing up electricity, radiation, telekinesis, teleportation and mind reading? If Volume III: Villains is about Peter vs. Sylar, then sign me up!

Did anyone else sense a little Elle-Mohinder chemistry? Matt, don't look now, but you might have some competition!

Instant postep spec on the Internet is that HRG shot Nathan, as his side of the deal with the Company to protect Claire.

What happens when Micah becomes a sad little kid with no parents and a lot of power?

From reader Gerald: "How did Claire's blood fix HRG's glasses? Is there a LensCrafters at Primatech?" Ha.

I hate some of the redundancy here, though. An "Is Nathan dead?" cliffhanger again bothers me.

Once these supervillains of Epic proportions are exposed (Adam, Linderman), they last an episode and then, Pffft! They're gone!

It was an otherwise good finale, though.

When Angela referred to "Pandora's Box", I think she might have been also slightly referring to the wrath they might have awakened in Peter. Imagine a wrathful, revengeful Peter.

I like it.

Thats exactly what I thought when she said it. They had to stop the truth from getting out, but now they've pissed of very possibly the most powerful of all the heroes.

Also, whats with the carp nickname? Is that english slang or something?

Linderman was never a big threat, only his finance and power made him imposing. And of course he couldn't beat both DL and Nikki/Jessica (that poorly-aimed shot didn't help either). Adam was a disappointment, since he was built up through most of the season, and when all things considered Hiro got rid of him rather easily. Adam needs to have an ability that can negate Hiro's time-stop and/or teleportation, otherwise he won't be a threat (and yes, I believe Adam will come back).

That's actually what I meant. Linderman had this huge, ominous buildup, to the same proportions as Adam/Kensei, and just farted out.

As for Adam getting resurrected, I personally have doubts. Hiro is the only one that knows what happened to him, and no one we know (so far) wants him out. Plus without the knowledge of anything as devastating as the virus, Adam really isn't a threat anyways.

If that's true the same thing should be true for a stab in the back of the head. If they lay there long enough their brain cells will decay to the point where there power isn't there anymore when the object is removed.

All I'm saying is that Suffocation isn't any better or permanent of a solution than stabbing in the back of the head. Both can be remedied pretty easily, barring the passage of an indeterminate, but large, amount of time.

I wonder what the next big disaster will be? We've already done bombs and viruses...what's next? Both at once?! Or maybe...the worlds weather getting thrown out of wack like in that movie the day after?

Oh there are may ways, but I see next season as a super powered struggle. Im thinking there is going to be alot to deal with, Sylar is going to go after Mayas powers and Claires powers and literally destroy the world.

If Adam isn't a threat, then why all the buildup of his character throughout season 2? I mean, all he had was the virus, which he couldn't have obtained without help from Peter (who was rather easily deceived considering that he can read minds). This is just another problem with season 2: wasting alot of time on a villain who turned out not so dangerous after all.

Nikki!!! NOOOO!!!!!

Yes. :D:D:D Dont fret, Micah has aunt Uhura and cousin Monica. I'm more concerned about Nathan. I'm sure Adam will be fine.

Good episode:

Too bad Niki died, she was way too hot to kill off. Besides i was still hoping to see Jessica.

Peter finally showed how powerful he actually is. He even countered Matt's ability. I have respect for the man now.:wow:

I like Elle a lot better now. Her blasting Sylar helped.

Who else was dissapointed that Maya didn't stay dead? :csad:

The ending was great. I wonder who shot Nathan. That man looked i bit like HRG but we'll see.

Adam got owned so bad it made me laugh haha.

:wow: :wow: :wow: Volume 3 is called "Villains"!! It's gonna be awesome. I'm hoping for some really great villains.

When are we gonna get some info on Arthur Petrelli!?:cmad:

I think Hiro's punishment of Adam was a bit weak. I mean, someone can easily hear him scream and dig him up. Not that I'm dissappointed, Adam is freakin great, but hes coming back to bite Hiro in the ass.

who's going to hear someone buried six feet under?

They moved the picture to ground level and you could hear muffled yelling.

I thought it was a decent season finale. I expected Nikki to die, but the end took me by surprise. I didn't expect Nathan to go down but I think it's an interesting set up for next season. Sylar back...I don't know what to say about it. I guess we'll have to see how it plays out. Hiro owning Adam was great, but I really liked Adam. He was one of my favorite characters this season so I hope he returns in Volume Three. Since he's immortal, I think he'll find a way out.

No problem.

wow! Hiro buried him alive and since he's immortal he'll be in there a looong time

Yes, but I thinkhe'll be out of there when the show returns.

Adam was boring.:o

:cmad:

brain thing?

The only way to kill an immortal is by destroying their brain.
