The Mandalorian Chapter 24 Spoiler Discussion

Solid episode. They really saved all the best action scenes for these last two episodes. Non-stop action from beginning to end. Nice to see that R5 even got his time to shine

RIP Gideon, unless they pull some BS and it turns out it was a clone and not the real Gideon himself

Mando & Grogu going up against the Praetorian Guards was pretty damn awesome! Even found it to be better choreographed and more brutal than the Praetorian vs Rey & Kylo fight from TLJ

Love that they turned IG-11 into Nevarro’s very own Robocop :D

Can’t help but feel that this sort of felt like a solid finale to The Mandalorian even though Favreau already confirmed there is a season 4 in the works

Kinda disappointed that we went this whole season without seeing Pedro’s face though  Guess he really was too busy doing Last of Us. Was also expecting some sort of tease in the credits setting up Ahsoka or Skeleton Crew but sadly we didn’t get that either

And now we wait for what’s next…

I'm just saying, the clones didn't have his mustache....

With him being a part of the Shadow Council. Along with Hux, Pellaeon and soon Thrawn. That opens up a lot of possibilities. Especially now that Din and Grogu are working with the New Republic.

Which, by the way, now adds another reason why those New Republic episodes weren't filler.

Edit: that wasn't in reply to you herolee10. Just perfect timing on when we posted. :D

Gideon isn't responsible for any of their existence, even a tiny bit. All three of those characters already existed. Thrawn's on Ahsoka, after new canon books and being on Rebels.

What do you consider "filler"?

Which is why is said "opened up". Through Gideon these characters are now tied into the story of The Mandalorian so far. Rather than just appearing randomly down the line.

Standalone episodes that don't have any impact on the plot, don't include significant world building or alter characters relationships. Just being more standalone doesn't make it filler.

Thrawn was first referenced in The Jedi, which had zero to do with Gideon. He's tied to Ahsoka, through her connection to Rebels. That is where everyone else is connected as well.

Yes. So how are those not filler, by way of having the New Republic connection? The problem was they went no where in terms of plot, world building, or character.

The finale was... fine. The action setpieces were really well done, and everything on that end was a treat to watch. But it all felt kinda hollow. Almost meandering. Some have said that this season felt directionless, and the finale hammered that home, for me. They clearly have an endpoint they're working towards with these shows, but it seems like they're just figuring out how to get there on the fly.

I 99% agree with this. It's one of those situations where I don't know how often I'll be rewatching this episode or even season, because how meandering and hollow it all was.

The thing I do not agree with, is them having a destination. The way Favs talks about it, it sounds like he doesn't know where it's headed, which is why when he's asked about potential amount of seasons, it's always a vague number. It could be 5, it might not be, etc. IMO what they had when this started was a) bond and protect Grogurt and b) return him to "his people". Both of those happened and they didn't really have an idea for stuff to do after that. Which is why this is all cobbled together (like Boba was as well), while something like Ahsoka, at lest for it's first season, feels like it has an actual direction and purpose.

The finale was one of the better episodes of the season but I agree it felt a bit hollow. This entire season felt a bit hollow…like it was something ordered by the executives but Favreau didn’t have the passion for it like the first two seasons (which might just be the case).

I can’t believe what I just watched. It wasn’t terrible per se, but it felt like a rushed and uninspired mess. The theories online of some of the Mandalorians betraying each other would have been a more fascinating approach to take and half of this season’s filler episodes could have been used to build up Moff’s return. Now the show ends on such an anti-climatic note it’s as if they don’t wanna get people excited for another season.

Great action, both ship and hand to hand, and good to see everyone together. Ending was cool too. I'd be able to enjoy this a fair bit in isolation. Just doesn't work as well as a payoff when the season's been so strangely structured building up to it. Still feel that one decision to move so much Mandalorian content into Boba Fett has had a big negative impact on the pacing of both seasons. I thought it might become obvious why they did that through the course of this show, but no, just an idiot move. Can't imagine there being too much interest in a Boba season 2 now.

I was definitely expecting some baddie Mandalorian stuff, even if no outright betrayals. All seems a bit too straightforward. There's a lot of cool stuff in this show, they just haven't linked it all up well enough and told the story naturally. They need to structure season 4 much better and also need to get a bit more ambitious on the story front outside of paying off fan service (which I'm certainly there for regardless).

Was trying not to type during it, like I usually do. highlights easily were;

Bo flying in with the Darksaber

TIE INTERCEPTOR 'Interstellar' CAMERA

Din's fighting with the Supercommandos

JETPACK FIGHT

GROGU'S DEFENSIVE FORCE USE

Ax dropping that ship and getting out of it

R5 steppin' up like a stud

FOR MANDALORE

...hate that the Darksaber got "destroyed" // will easily see it be fixed for-by Grogu (maybe not until Rey's solo film

This ending just didn't hit for me like the past two season finales. This turned into more cartoonish territory.

Yeah, keep s4 of Mando more episodic.

...give Bo & The Tribe a show around mid-rebuild of Mandalore, maybe 5-10 years into the future.

Tap into Andor political vibes while also letting it have action here and there.

Think;

Postman
Waterworld
Mad Max
Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes
City Of God
> The Leftovers
Do The Right Thing
In Bruges
The Apartment
> Station Eleven
Munich
The Candidate

Also I saw it brought up and now makes total sense, last weeks episode “The Spies” was a biblical reference. It was Bo and the scouting team that were The Spies. Not any other actual spies that were traitors/working with Gideon.

“The Twelve Spies, as recorded in the Book of Numbers, were a group of Israelite chieftains, one from each of the Twelve Tribes, who were dispatched by Moses to scout out the Land of Canaan for 40 days ...”

Good to know, thanks.
