I dont see them scaling Sylar back any. They had their chance at the end of S2 and all they did was make him even more powerful with Claires power. They have a chance with Peter and I just hope they dont screw that up.

Would be interesting if Peter could only absorb one power at a time, but then he touches Sylar and gets empathy back.

It isn't obvious because why would the serum give someone else a different power and that power act totally different between two episodes It also isn't a great improvement because that just makes Sylar more omnipotent and no one will ever defeat him. Sylar is the antithesis of Peter but not now I guess

Yeah but I will ignore those plot holes if it means that Peter gets one power at a time.

I think its obvious that Peter can only have one power at a time and only through touch. This is a great improvement as it will prevent him from becoming over powered and boring.

Why the **** is Sylar back? He has reached the point where his is less interesting than Hiro and Ando. Sylar needs to die permanently or at least be gone for an entire volume before making a triumphant return.

Imagine how amazing it would be, if we had not seen Sylar since the season 1finale, and then in this episode, Claire pulls the bag off of his head and that was the cliff hanger. Imagine how much more effective it would be.

At this point, Sylar is essentially Rocksteady and BeeBop. You know he is not a real threat as none of the main characters die, yet at the same time...you know he isn't going anywhere or really ever going to change.

I completely disagree with you on this. The writers have said point blank in every show... Sylar is never ever being bested for long. If his story interacts with any other character... there is a serious chance that the other character is going to die or be knocked around because Sylar is 'just that good'.

And it hasn't seemed to change... because now Sylar has a different father and he's 'special'. Also, once Sylar was surprised by the hunters... he clearly beats them all with no difficulty whatsoever and also gets a man to spill all the beans on the hunter program... way to start a Sylar storyline guys, keep up the fan fiction quality work.

At this point, there is no good death for Sylar except to just be shot in the face with a shotgun by some random-not-even-given-a-name character who is never even seen again.

Exactly. After 2 years, there he is. Instead of him being around every effing episode to the point where he just...ineffective.

I didn´t have time to read through all the posts so sorry if some of this has been said before:

Syler was able to overcome the agents because they were using tazer style darts which are useless against someone with electric powers like Syler.

Peter propably still has his empathy powers but he´s become more jaded which causes his empathy to work wrong and need actual contact to acquire powers.

Nathans plan is IMO stupid since if your going to capture all powered individuals and keep them drugged up then you might as well just kill them since that´s no different. Of course there might be a de-power juice in play which might excuse this.

Claire was her usual lame self, she is so full of her self that it´s really painful to listen to her.

Why hasn´t Mohinder left America? You would think that he could go back to his life in India rather then being a cabby in NY.

I´ll second those saying that the future paintings should stop, they never seem to achieve anything other then serving as a plot device for getting people into the positions shown in them.

Am i the only one that still thinks Sylar is an interesting character? Although he is overpowered, i agree with that. BUt not because he took down that hunting squad. I think anybody with offensive power could have taken them down.

I just watched that scene on the plane again and now i also think Peter can only hold 1 power at a time. First he absorbs Mohinders power. He beats the snot out of those guards with ease. But then one of them manages to hit him, he falls and accidentally touches Tracy. He absorbs her power too.Then he throws a another punch but it's clearly less effective since the guard doesn't seem to be fazed. And Peter's hand hurts. When he had Mohinder's power, he didn't feel a thing. Next thing you know we see him using Tracy's power.

I seriously think we may finally be at just below Season one in quality again. I just go to watch it and it was awesome! I think the reason Peter switched from Strength to Ice was cause he didnt know how to use the strength just yet, same with Ice. I would like his powers to be the same because he is kinda like the parallel to Sylar, in that he has no idea how to use a power once he has attained it unconditionally. Then as for Sylar he purposefully attains an abilitiy so that he can use it perfectly. That was a Dynamic from Season one that I thought was amazing! I remember him not knowing how to use Teds power at all once he aquired it.

Didn't he touch Ali Larter's hand by accident?

It´s possible that Peter can only use multiple powers once he has mastered them but every time he gains a new one that power overloads him and he´s therefore unable to use anything else for a little while or until he masters the new power...

I'd like to say I'm amazed that people even think otherwise, but this is Hype. If some character has his/her hair differently in shot 2 than in shot 1, it must mean something significant. You know, no one made an error in the continuity department while they were filming...

True but he then thought he had mohinders power, Peter in Season One was never able to use two powers at once til he trained with Claude. He went a good half of a season not having powers it is quite plausible that the idea of aquiring one power then ACCIDENTLY getting another just overloaded him and he was unanble to think the way he needed too to use Mohinders power again.

I definitely think that Peter can now only hold one power at a time. This is insinuated twice in this episode. The most obvious one is when Peter accidentally absorbs (which has a special effect to accentuate the event) Tracy's powers and losing Mohinder's powers. The second came earlier when Nathan asked Peter what he could do, at which point Peter answered that he could fly.

Personally, I think this is a step in the right direction. It allows the producers to keep Peter's trademark ability of acquiring abilities from others yet prevents him from turning into God Mode Mary Sue again. Now, all we need is for Sylar to get depowered down to just TK.

Yes that is how it seems now but go back and watch the Villians finale. Peter injects himself, dives towards Nathan and flies out with his hands on Nathan's back and Nathan's hands on Peter's back. If Peter knew he had to touch Nathan's skin, he would have ran over to him, held his hand, and then flew out the window. Once Peter had his powers back, he knew he could fly and that is why he dove at Nathan. If his powers have changed like it seems and you all insist, he would have dove at Nathan thinking he could fly and landed flat on his face and they would have died in the explosion.

It's all about adrenaline though, I'm sure since Peter gets his powers through Empathy, that kinda ad's another element to it.

I have no idea. I don't undestand why Peter would get a new power when as Mohinder said his body was primed for powers after Arthur took it away. If he got a completely new power after injecting himself then it was stupid to give him a power almost identical to the one he already had. Plus as I mentioned...him flying in the last episode vs. his power in this episode was inconsistent. If they can explain it well and it makes sense then I am fine with that but in this episode it didn't make sense.
