The Mandalorian Chapter Ten Spoiler Discussion

OK so now we can kind of see where things are going for Episode 3. The trailer shows Mando reuniting Frog Lady with her husband on TRASK. This is where they will encounter Sasha Banks.

So this is where they will meet Sasha Banks next week.

Sloppy. Felt like it dragged on and told half a story. Too many convenient things happening. It doesn't feel like much thought went into this episode and the cameo from Richard Ayoade felt like it was wasted on this episode. I did laugh a bit at baby Yoda eating the eggs though.

Who is Sasha Banks?
Early rumors about Banks were that she'd be playing Sabine Wren, these rumors came up before the trailer confirmed Banks would be on the show, but we don't know anything specific about her role.

Funny, I think the show is following more of a Video game like narrative for each episode, like levels in a game/ individual comic issues. So it doesn't really bother me, it's part of the structure. And like last year, there is really no filler here when it's all said & done. Just apparently some impatient eager people wanting more when we don't really need it, heard the same complaints about Clone Wars & Rebels.

Filler for me is an episode that doesn't further the main plot or the characters. This is a filler episode. I didn't learn anything about the child or mando that I didn't already know.
And why did mando turn into a bumbling idiot with the X wing pilots?

They should release all the episodes at once if they're gonna be pulling these kind of episodes out of their asses all the time.

Get on with the story already. How many more episodes are we gonna have another contact who knows where mandalorians are.
I'm surprised he doesn't have a way to contact his covert that was in season 1. I know they had to relocate but surely they had a contingency

Catching up on this now.

- One of the junkers from The Force Awakens

- X-Wings!

- Salamandar Woman is a sound sleeper

- fun chase scene with the X-Wings

- and yea I agree with others who think they make Salamandar Woman too sympathetic to play it off as a joke when The Child keeps sucking down her eggs, especially when she takes the blanket off herself to try to protect them and when she saves The Child

- total Xenomorph vibe from the spider eggs

- um yea that gave me the heebie jeebies

- filler episode but still fun. Didn’t have the problem with it that some did.

At least we know what the child is fed :)
Last time Mando gave him food was on the farmer planet with Cara Dune, if I remember.

Having Gizmo eating so many eggs for a joke was a bad move. Once would have been fine, because he doesnt know better, but after that it stops being funny and just becomes unpleasant.

I dont think Mando had much choice with the Xwing pilots. He was on a deadline, and if he cooperated with the pilots he would have been tied up with them for hours or days. And once they found out who he was he was looking at an arrest, trial, and imprisonment. The Child would have been taken into custody, and civilian caretaker wouldn't be equipped to protect him. He could have tried to explain the situation to the NR, but there's no reason for them to believe he is on the level and not just some money hungry criminal bounty hunter. At best the pilots would have agreed to escort him to the system to drop off the eggs after which they wpuld have tried to arrest him.

So why didn't they arrest him at the end?

I really loved this episode.
The stuff with the spider creatures was horror like and reminded me of Dead Space or something.
I thought The Child eating the eggs was hilarious every single time it happened.
That last one especially.

Today’s episode was okay, I think it was one of the weaker episodes of the show. It coming off last weeks, which is arguably one of the best episodes, didn’t help. The spider stuff was aptly creepy and the X-Wing chase was cool.

Other than that, I had issues with the overall writing. I’m in agreement with some that the Baby Yoda eating the egg joke felt wrong after the first one.

I agree the writing was kind of weak this episode. But then, I typically find Favreau's writing on the show to be a bit basic. It usually works well for the style of the show, but sometimes can fall a bit flat. Can't wait for the Famuyima and Filoni scripted eps, though. I assume the Filoni ep is where we'll get a Clone Wars character (or two), and Famuyima's was easily my fave of last season.

The Baby Yoda eating the eggs gag was fine and amusing to me at first, but they just went overboard with it. Especially after emphasizing how endangered and precious those eggs were, imo.

Thank you thank you and thank you. My thoughts exactly on all of this. I like you.

I was getting a lot of force awaken vibes X wing shots from that chase scene (like how they had the 'cameras' mounted on the back of the ship for some shots etc).

I think people, especially fans of genre TV, want a more serialized format, that they forget how to enjoy the episodic format.

Good to see the Knobby White Spider in live action. Quite fun with the Alien reference.

And based on Gizmo's eating habits, I just have to assume that the Dagobah swamp is just filled with traps for Yoda to get his meat while in exile.

Yeah I've got no issues with the episodic nature of this show. I love standalones, and I miss them in our current binge-watching era. I feel like TV has kind of lost something without them. I just don't think this was a particularly strong one.

I have no problem with standalone episodes either, especially with a show like The Mandalorian where I actually want to see and explore as much of this world as possible as well as spend time with all the new and interesting characters that show up. That's just how invested I am in this show, but even saying that this one still felt like it was a bit on the weaker side even for a standalone episode.

It honestly could have been even shorter and I wouldn't have minded it at all and as much as I enjoyed the opening sequence I can't help but wonder if there was actually a point to it.

I mean other than it being a nice, fun, little action sequence nothing really came from it plot wise and after that set up with Boba Fett at the end of the first episode you would have thought it was going to go more in that direction, but it didn't which was kind of disappointing to me and made it feel sort of disjointed overall IMO.

Yeah this was a detour as Mando is trying to get to the next step of his journey.

I think the issue was the conflict was sparked by this chase from the New Republic patrol pilots, and the conflict was resolved fairly conveniently at the end.

I think it was also kind of clunky when Frog Lady is using Zero to communicate with Mando to like hold to his agreement, and really nothing Mando did really got them out of that situation. Rather than motivate Mando to find a creative solution, her wandering off into the hotspring just put them in more danger, and they only got out of it because the New Republic pilots helped them. And then they help them and leave them there anyway...alright...

Between that you have The Child repeatedly eating her precious eggs which was...rather dark to use that as a point of humor.

I'm aware the eggs were not yet fertilized, but they were still very precious to her, and they were the last eggs of her lifecycle. Her species has been driven to endangerment, and the child is eating them.
