Ethan Hawke as a young Gordon I don't have a problem with

I still think you could keep JK Simmons in the role... His hair was almost all white in Justice League, just give him a normal shades of gray hairstyle and I don't think anyone would think much of it.
Agreed. No need to waste such great casting as a one shot when he can still convincingly play it younger.

My dark horse candidates are still either Brad Pitt or Kyle Chandler.

I can see Reeves targeting Pitt for this, especially if Se7en is a big influence.

Someone proposed Jimmy Smits on twitter and I really liked that idea.

I'm still on the Cranston train, and I'm not getting off this time.

Along the lines of Hawke and Pitt; Guy Pearce?

I like the synergy it creates with L.A. Confidential and why not just go ahead and add Crowe as Bullock? (don’t care that he was Jor-El.)

Pearce would be good. Russell would be a good Commish too, depending on his yoyoing weight.

Not feeling Carrell, Shannon, or Pearce for this.

Hawke really does feel like the standout choice. I think he would fit right in with the vibe Reeves seems to be going for.

Brad Pitt is my other favorite right now.

Cranston feels a little old for it with a 25-30 year old Batman. 45-55 seems like the right age range. Plus Cranston already turned the role down. He wants to play a character that has never been portrayed before, like Mister Sinister.

****, I totally missed The Little Drummer Girl.

Don't know if he's been mentioned but always liked the idea of Dennis Quaid, but lots of great suggestions so far. To be honest just hope they do him justice Gordon is a great character that's always been underutilised in the movies in my opinion. Don't get me wrong Oldman is a great actor but I never really bought his relationship in the Nolan movies with Bruce, just hope they really emphasise the respect between them both.

Preferably someone pretty out-of-left-field this time around. I get pretty sick of all the Cranston type of fan-casting, Simmons kinda felt in that mould too.

The usual "anyone middle-aged with a mustache in a previous role!" schtick. Gets done with Luthor and every-baldy-in-Hollywood too.

Chandler's kinda interesting though, if they're going young. Can he hide that southern accent he always seems to have in stuff? He kinda always seems to be the same southern cop/southern football coach/southern whatever guy in everything, nothing wrong with that, but it'd be kinda weird for Gordon. Guess Ledger Joker had that weird drawl going on at times though, so obviously you could make it work.

If they're going more "expected" again, like Simmons, I wouldn't mind them looking at Chris Cooper again like Nolan did. Maybe not ideal, but he'd probably work.

Younger than the likes of Cranston or Simmons, yeah. But by the time this movie hits, Chandler's going to be eight years older than Oldman was at the time of Batman Begins. Seems crazy, but it's true.

When casting Lex we were going for all bald actors around, now we're going with all actors that has had a mustache at some stage right?
