Hunter, the problem isn't about respecting other people's views. Fine, Daisy doesn't want people at work to see her looking at stuff like that. Ok, that's great, but why is there a continuing trend on the Hype that we must cater to the needs of a minority. "We can't do this, because the kids." When kids, who are at least registered here, are in the minority, at least IMO, unless some concrete data is presented, I will continue to believe that. "We can't have that because it offends a few of the female posters." When they're even in the minority within the female poster minority on here. It's not about segregation or seclusion. They have their rights, but why must we dictate policy and regulation around the whims of a few, when the many do not have an issue with it. That's the main argument here which goes beyond a simple avatar.

B/c that is how Mirko wants it, this board is much more visible than ever before and he wants it geared closer towards a more accessible and PG-13 friendly mentality. The amount of posters here are most likely in their late teens or older and yes there are less females than males.

It was a picture of Hoth, and had an AT-AT looking down at an AT-RT. 'I Am Your Father,' it said.

I've never understood the kid argument, there were films like daredevil and blade which were clearly not directed at kids being advertised and scooped up on here.

What does the hype do to control such children discussion films they shouldn't be allowed to view and take part in. If they aren't old enough to view it, does that not mean they aren't old/mature enough to discuss aspects of it?

the same goes with films in the misc film section.

Personally I don't mind but it's clear there isn't a fine line here and it all bends determined on perception. I mean without any form of age id, there's no way to even moderate the individuals and their acess to certain information as you can with some sites like youtube.

Excuse me, I meant "ask". Mirko isn't always available to dictate things on here, so you, the moderators are left to run the site. So, in essence, you guys are setting policy, and he's just signing whatever comes across the table. Hey, I'm probably wrong, for all I know, Mirko is a mainstay in the washroom and is constantly discussing stuff. But from the perspective of a peon poster like me here, that's what I see. So yeah, I'm not ignorant to the fact that this isn't a democracy Matt, give me more credit than that. At the same time however, I see this more like a business. You can set all the policies you want and it may work for a while, but when you start losing customers because of them, you're going to start feeling the pinch. So yeah, you can continue with your "In Soviet Russia, the Hype posts you" mantra, but we, the posters make the site. If we didn't come here, there would be no site. So, you can take this analogy a step further, you guys are Rome, and we're the mob. What would they say about the mob?

Most of them don't give a crap, they don't even realize when changes are made or policies put into place. You can say the same thing about most people when it comes to governments. So we should just stay quiet then is what you're telling me? Lets go ahead and delete this thread then so no further "civil rights battles" happen ever again.

No they weren't, the idea was to simply cut out that type of thing in general, now the truth is you could argue that in Get Smart, a PG-13 movie, there is a comedic scene where Maxwell appears to be humping a dude over a table, now made into an avvy without context it would probably be a no go despite being from a PG-13 movie. In this case it was seen as a juvenile and crude, non PG-13 gif.

It really isn't that simple. It's Christmas time, some people have festive avatars, some even religious. What if some people were offended by the religious ones? Would those people be forced to remove their avatars?

Do I usually respond like that ? Lets make something clear here, Wompum's avvy is what I'd call on the line, it's not a truly sexual avvy, it's more a juvenile sex gag. Now i have been seeing stuff from you and him about "taking probations b/c you are pissed", let me remind you Darth, IF Wompum puts the avvy back, nothing will happen, we merely asked him to show respect to the few that it did offend, trying to maintain a harmony, it is no bigger than that and certainly does not require anyone to fall on their e-sword.

Truthfully the point would never stand b/c you say mocking and Matt says tribute, but I'd ask him and accept his choice, just like a while back when Jstorm had an avvy of Batman and Robin kissing, I got complaints about it from some of the batfans who view the section with their kids, I told the complainers that I'd inform him of the concern and ask him if he'd mind removing it but at no point was he obligated to, b/c at the very same time Sofa had an avvy of Sawyer and Kate rom Lost doing the tongue tango in a moving gif.

But if you want to go into the whole PG-13 policy, I don't think wormpu's avatar did. It wasn't even animated.

In terms of SHH's policy of simulated sex in any form, obviously it does.

And that's what you should be trying to put forward and not, the, a couple of posters were offended.
