Can I suggest something as someone who has faced his fair share of bannings? Once someone is banned, there should be an appeal process. Meaning, a opportunity to face the mods and tell their side of the story, share evidence and pretty much plead their case. A tribunal of sorts. I don't know the technical aspects of how this work, but it makes sense in my head. After deliberations, all the mods could put it to a vote or come to a decision by whatever means. This eliminates all the PM'ing different mods asking why you were banned and then the whole politics of trying to get mods to vouch for you and all that. It also adds some transparency of the whole process.
:up:

I bet I am like a level 1 cause no one cares about little owe me

We pretty much already follow that approach in our own little way. Put your thumb down.

Because of the_ultimate_evil, I am now making some chicken. It's no bacon, but it's the best I've got.

was there ever any moves made on the suggestion to up the total number of pics a user is able to post per post?

i know it's 7, but even 8 would be.. great :)

oh yeah, and while i'm thinking of it, has Mirko commented back on the possibility or a Books/Music forum?

just give it a probationary period (ie: 3 months or so) and i know we can show yall that it will be a great sub forum. heck, i'll even volunteer to help moderate it if no one wans to :wink:

Please?!

Not really the same thing, as per most mods suggestions, making a new name after being banned is frowned upon, so I don't know why you'd even recommend that in point 2.

Ive talked lots of posters cases through with them on second accounts made to contact me.

The New Year has just started, I'll talk to him again soon.

My only cocern with a book forum (as much as I would love it) and a music forum is it basically robs Community of the last bit of intelligent discussion it has.

i think between you and i, and some other posters, we could really make the section wonrk

thanks Hunter :)

My only concern with a book forum (as much as I would love it) and a music forum is it basically robs Community of the last bit of intelligent discussion it has.

i think this would work best as a combo forum. By putting the two together, you could have threads devoted to specific things.

IE: Books
*threads devoted to certain books
*authors
*series
*recommendations
*a hype book club,
- a main thread for discussion and suggestions of books for the club to read, as well as links to subsequent threads. each book will have its own dicussion thread for everyone to discuss it as they've read it. also makes it easy for users who may opt to not read a book to pick up where they want without getting lost
*book to film adaptations, and the like
*books in the works, etc
*best seller lists, rankings, etc
* threads pertaining to certain genres of literature (classic lit, gothic, horror, suspense, romance, sci fi, young adult, etc)
* discussions of various forms of prose
- poetry
- screen plays
- articles/ journalism
- etc
* discussion of books/novels that hype members are working on. like an idea think tank, critiques, commentary, feedback, beta readers, etc.
* i think it'd be ok if users posted their original works (non fanfic, as we have a section for that). like if a user likes to write poetry, or their own books and screenplays, as i know a couple are.

IE: Music
* artists threads (ie: beatles, sinatra, britney spears, etc)
* threads pertaining to albums
* soundtracks/score
* a hype music club
- a main discussion thread and suggestions, as well as links to the threads for the albums we'll be listening to and discussing. similar to the book club
* concert touring information
* upcoming albums, collaborations
* billboard sales, release dates, etc
* threads pertaining to genres of music (rock, country, rap, classical, pop, opera, etc)
* instrument discusions, for those who play, want to get into playing
* users can post original works (ie: written lyrics, performances of their bands, etc)
* recommendations (songs you really like that you think others may like, youtube video links, etc)

i guess yall can tell i've given it a lil thought :woot:

this is just a general idea of things i would like to see in a Literature and Lyrical Section (lame attempt at a catchy subforum name)

Oh god CC. Reading your post makes me sad it's not real :(

me too :(

i just wanted to show how intelligent and what a great addition to the community it could be.

i know some may have qualms that it will resort to the basic "rap suckz!! or "twilight is for losers!!!1!". you know, the useless diatribe that some threads have been closed for or failed because they reache this idiotic status.
i think some people just post stuf like that to be funny (though they're usually not) and if in a sub forum, they would be too lazy most of the time to waste the effort to do something like that. sure, everyone is not going to agree on everything there, but i have high hopes for it.

i think we have some great mods who could keep things going smoothly over there, and if not, then i know you and I could probably help them out Star :up:

Passively campaigning for moderation never works, play it coy and just be awesome instead.

I was thinking about something small but maybe some others might like it, what about a "reply all" button for PMS?

I think she's more campaigning for the book/music forum and volunteering to help if no one wants to :up:

I disagree. What would you discuss in a Blu-Ray sub-forum that you couldn't discuss in the Misc. Movies forum?
What couldn't you discuss in the celeberies forum that you couldn't already do in the Community forum? And unlike the Community Diner, there would actually be, you know, actual topics to discuss instead of wasting space.

:yay:

That would actually be a great option.

The Diner was created for exactly that reason - a place for threads that are a waste of space, hence why the sub-forum is post count neutral.

What in the world would you discuss in a Blu-Ray sub-forum? So, let's think about this. Say someone wants to discuss Gone With the Wind, so, they create a thread in the Misc. Movies Forum. And then the next day the film comes out on Blu-Ray, so, they should then create a thread in that sub-forum, too? To discuss the same exact topic? It doesn't make any sense. :huh:

I know she was, i was half kidding and giving her some advice in the process.

I'd like to get behind adding this section as well, I think it makes a lot of sense and I would love to participate in it.

But then how did you do it?

I was approached. :cwink:

That would actually be a great option.

I thought it sounded decent.

I can't get any more big headed than I already am.
