Why get rid of post count? Why is this place changing so much? Why do mod's patrol this place with no actual benefits to themselves? Why have all the cool olbies left or been banned?

We're not getting rid of post counts?

Question: Did the recent forum upgrade get rid of the so-called "lag?"

Because I appreciate being able to post at all hours of the morning here on the east coast... so thanks for that, powers that be

I for one would like the post count to stay.

1. It shows how much you contributed towards the forums.:lips:

2. When your post count is high then you can see how much of a life you don't have wasted.:ikyn

3. What's a forum without a post count? It's like having a forum with no avatars. :facepalm

I think the forums are fine the way they are, changes blow, keep it old school.

^^ He is creating mass hysteria then:o

I think the censors should go off...but that's me.

Other then that...this site sucks and I'm not sure why I even post here.

:D

A criticism which I haven't seen as frequently is the closing of threads with no reason given. If a thread is closed, the moderator closing should be the last post and stating why.

Also, as much as you mods love to do it, closing a thread, and then talking crap about the person who started the thread is cowardly.:o

Yeah, i'm not exactly sure why feedback is wanted when whenever anyone has any legitimate issues the answers are 'it's just the way it is'

meh,

anyway can announcements go straight to people's cp who are subscribed to that forum or in general to stop site-wide announcements always showing up when you change the forum you are visiting. It's very annoying.

Can we also have the abilities to close our own thread. Starting a conversation is just as powerful as stopping it, i don't see we can have the power for one and not the other, especially since it is our own thread.

to go with that, can we have the power to change our thread titles to stop typos, having to call a mod to do that is a lil bit of a nanny culture.

ps, i think any community or diner activity which has no correlation to 'superherohype activities' shouldn't interfere with your post count.

if you want a 6k post count abilities, spend 6k on talking about superheroes, not subjects unrelated to the website. That's a real contribution.

Finally can we get some ability to post blogs on our users profile. I would like to gather all my reviews for superhero films to date and place them there for people who would like a quick insight into the way i think about them (and other things). At the very least, could we provide links to 10 threads/posts which do the same thing.

Ps

thanks for the group of 'it's just the way it is'' in advance

^I agree with changing the thread title and the blog thing.

Although I myself am guilty of doing this, I do agree with it. That way there's not a bunch of "Why?????" and "Who???!!". Plus the thread maker can contact the Mod and debate it instead of huffing and puffing all over the place.

The boards are very quiet apart from one bloated thread. Bamf's made a good try at keeping the spam in the lounge to a minimum, but I'm sure it won't be long until it goes back to how it was... if it hasn't already. And the boards are SO quiet.

Is there not a way to track posts and make some who don't contribute in other areas to earn their 'lounge time' by contributing to other threads to a certain degree before they are able to lounge?

Now most wouldn't be affected by this, but we all know that there are some who lounge that just don't contribute to the boards at all apart from signing in and lounging until they log their spamming asses off.

I'm not naming names - I don't want to give anyone a hard time, but it's infuriating to see dead boards with the lounge at the top of the page with all other threads forgotton.

PM me those names and I will post them.:cmad:

A Case For Destroying the Community Diner

Written by: Darthphere
Produced by: Darthphere
Starring: Darthphere

The Community Diner has been a welcome sight for many posters here who hated the lounges and game threads whose sole use was to get someone a 100x100 avatar as quickly as possible. Spam is down across the community boards and people have been forced out into the other forums. This of course was supposed to be a good thing, but no friends, this is bad.

The people who post in game threads post in them because they are boring and unoriginal. They're also slightly anti-social and can't carry a conversation over the internet, let alone in real life. Are these the people we want co-mingling with us now, forced into posting in actual conversational threads in order to get to their 100x100 avatar sooner? Of course not, they're boring. I don't care what TheDarkKnight1337 has to say about Sarah Palin's possible future in the Senate if it consists of just saying "Cool". We need standards, keep the riff raff where they belong, restore post counts to the game threads.

A while back meaning a year ago? This place has gotten pretty boring compared to how it really used to be IMO.

Ive never been much a Community poster but it seems mow ppl are more comfortable in posting here, before it used to be like walking past a fence with angry dogs barking and straining at the leash.

As for suggestions, how about a vote thread for any new ideas you as the staff feel could better the Hype. I know you have your round table discussions but how could it really hurt to get the sections of the Hype you are affecting a say in the matter... in the end, you could just do what you want anyway. I don't see how it could hurt to hear the opinions before the backlash.

I think this is a solid idea, I tired it with Misc movies and although the fear of change brigade won out, it still created a sense of involvement.

A criticism which I haven't seen as frequently is the closing of threads with no reason given. If a thread is closed, the moderator closing should be the last post and stating why.

I agree, unless it's very obvious.

Also, as much as you mods love to do it, closing a thread, and then talking crap about the person who started the thread is cowardly.:o

I don't know many mods have done that, but yeah it's not cool.

With comfortableness comes mediocrity. It's running rampant around here lately... I mean, how many threads can there be about a child getting shot/raped/injected in their heart with acid?

I wouldn't say mediocrity, ppl talking about news stories is pretty common place in socializing in general, i know most of those threads tend to be a repeat pattern of "Kill the ****er(s)" but some times it can develop into more. However I get the feeling you miss a certain type of poster 'Bleed and I am not sure what to say about that, I guess those now enjoying the Community do so b/c those posters are no longer around to ridicule others.

Yeah, Community is more like an open bar instead of a clubhouse these days.

That is a good way of putting it, I never had a problem in this section myself but I know many felt that it was a very "In crowd" driven section where those that didn't fit in were mocked.

I don't miss the clubs/Hype "gangs"/cliques... I miss the in depth discussion sprinkled with well placed sarcasm. It amused me to no end and now all these threads (aside from the evolution/religion/politics threads) are all very "what you see on the surface is all you will see"... no depth. Now, I may not create threads as much as I could... but why should I when the thread I create generates nothing but *meh* responses and nobody wants to hold a decent discussion? It's all very *meh* to me.

I guess we just see it differently, I don't see this section as much different than it was, only it no longer has less socially "cool" posters getting ripped on as much.
