Why the hell has the Hype been so dead the last few days?

Of the four mentioned in Bella's post... only two would benefit oldbies... and, now that I think about it, having an invite only thread or forum would be incredibly boring as there would be only a few people posting in there.

As far as benefitting new users... don't you think that's the point of places like these? Lure users into trying to stick around by giving them these "rewards" and maybe in the process of obtaining these little tidbits of joy, they will find out that the Hype is actually not such a bad place to hang out on the internets. Hence the benefits of reaching oldbie-ness.

I don't know 'Bleed, I think there are two sides to that argument, it certainly can be seen as an incentive to stick around, but are those that stick around to get a coloured name and avvy really gonna bring that much ? we have numerous posters of quality that have never been into those things.

Verily, it doesn't matter to me either... I'm medically colorblind. But to others it might. Different people have different motivations for doing what they do and if something is implemented that might help boost the morale around here then why not, if the effort isn't too great?

Ultimately, the decision lies with you guys... but per the spirit of this thread I'm leaning toward change[/Obama]

Anyways, I suggest we have a thread called "BANNED" and if someone gets banned we can look at the thread and see who/why/when etc of them getting banned. This way we don't get "So in so was banned? Why?" leading to off topic discussions in any of the threads the banned poster posted in last, and millions of threads like "WHY WAS ----- BANNED!?" Also, we can "learn from the misfortunes of others"

I like this idea. And have the thread closed so no discussion gets put into it, just a list of the banz!

The "BANNED" thread idea has been answered. We think that it'll only benefit the nosey few. I personally feel that it's a private matter. If those who are curious wants to know, ask the person who was banned or PM a red to ask about it.

I used to post here a while back and people were waaaaaaaaaaaay too rude and uptight. Now, people are laid back and cool. This place is a lot of fun now.

I agree with this comment for the most part, but my suggestion would be to make the Hype more welcoming. There is definitely a "clique" mentality amognst certain people. This alone is fine, but when said clique is then becoming rude to "outsiders", or speaking in a very closed or personal way..well...I find myself wondering why email or aim is not used as this is a COMMUNITY forum.I, seriously, kid you not, but this is seriously the best smiley ever.

I know people would like to limit the number of announcements we get here but there are always threads and announcements about people becoming mods, while there is never any news of people stepping down or being relieved of their duty.

Could we be notified as soon as moderation changes. No one really checks those forum administration pages.

If you asked the average poster to name all the hype moderations, I doubt 10 would be able to name all of them, heck, i don't even know how many there are.

I think it makes for a much clearer reading of the message board. Avatars are enough for me, I think pictures in the signature just fill the board with too much useless, distracting page space.
