OPENING COMMENTS: Hisako Ichiki vs Exodus

Although I'm really proud that Hisako Ichiki even made it this far into the competition (final 32), she doesn't have a prayer against someone like Exodus. I've either bull talked my way through this competition with her, or got really lucky on her matches, but this is where the road ends for the latest inductee to the X-Men. We took out some big ones out on the way over (Mandarin, Sphinx etc.) so at least you can all be grateful.

WINNER=HISAKO ICHIKI

Ultimus vs. Iceman:

This is a miss-match, just like last rounds Thor vs. Nick Fury. Sadly, Iceman is Midnight Ice's last character; so, Ultimus is eliminating two foes.

The bios.

Ultimus:

Powers: Superhuman strenght, speed, stamina, agility and reflexes, metahuman durability, besides the ability to manipulate cosmic energy

Also, the bio from the Official Marvel Handbook Master Edition on Ultimus:

"Ultimus has the ability to manipulate cosmic energy to augment his life force, granting him great longevity and regenerative abilities, the projection of cosmic energy as concussive bolts from his hands, the ability to project an invisible force field about his body varying from a radius of one-inch to several yards, the ability to fly by harnessing anti-gravitons, and possibly other powers."

Also, under Strength, it says he has "Superhuman Class 90" powers, under Speed and Stamina both say "Superhuman," and under Durability it says "Metahuman."

Iceman:

Iceman has the ability to lower the temperature in his surrounding area while gathering moisture to form ice into any shape that he wishes. He used to encase his body in ice and snow, but now he actually transforms into a man of ice. This allows him to manipulate his body on a molecular level. He can also perceive the world in terms of temperatures.

Ultimus is at a power level where Iceman cannot really do much to him. They've never met; so, neither would have information on the other. Ultimus has an invisible force field to protect him from a lot of what Iceman could do to him; and, in the end, Ultimus isn't going to be concerned wtih anyone around him and will probably shatter Iceman into pieces. Luckily, Iceman will survive, as he has in the past; but, the match will be long over by then, as he'd be incapacitated for a long period of time.

Winner = Ultimus

vs.

Iceman (MIDNIGHT ICE) bio

Ok, this is a hard battle for Iceman, but it can be won. (We have seen many upsets here in this tourny.)

Iceman and Ultimus have never met to my knowledge, so they won't have any info on each other. The databases at the X-Mansion MAY have a little info, but even I will admit that if it does, it probably isn't much.

That said, Ultimus will go into the fight with his forcefield and will treat Iceman as if he is of little importance. This will be his downfall. We have seen in the past that Iceman has frozen the air in Unuscione's force field. When Iceman senses the forcefield, be coming up against it, or possibly seeing a slight temeratue difference around Ultimus, Iceman can freeze it, knocking Ultimus out for long enough for the match to be over.

Winner:Iceman

Nimrod vs Warlock - MTech

I think Nimrod can take this, and has the best chance of moving on. But Warlock has a lot of great abilities.

What does everyone else think?

New Sun vs Airwalker

Fighting a herald is always a tough thing to do. But New Sun has a number of tricks up his sleeve to do just that.

Prep-time does nothing since they won't find information on each other. Location similarly does nothing. Airwalker would not care about the population and, although New Sun may not want to see people die, he's not a hero (in the conventional sense) and will worry about himself first.

When the fight starts, and faced with a being with unknown powers, New Sun will try to take all of Airwalker's kinetic energy. Essentially 'freezing' him in place. This may not work because of the vast cosmic power Airwalker has access to. But New Sun will instantly realize how much power Airwalker has and turn it against him.

If New Sun realizes he's facing a robot when he first sees Airwalker, he'll know he doesn't have to worry about holding back. He can charge up and detonate a parts of Airwalker's body. Or maybe blow the android up completely.

This sounds improbable until you realize that all New Sun does is turn all the potential energy in an object into kinetic energy to charge it. As a herald, Airwalker has the potential energy of the power cosmic itself for New Sun to manipulate. And New Sun would only need to use a fraction of this power to destroy the android.

There are many ways New Sun can fight this battle. But this is the quickest, most effective method (which is important if New Sun wants to protect the population after all). The man with the power to blow up his world should have little problem manipulating enough power in the android's body to destroy it.

New Sun wins

I very much agree, and my agreement has a lot to do with what I say below.

That said, Ultimus will go into the fight with his forcefield and will treat Iceman as if he is of little importance. This will be his downfall. We have seen in the past that Iceman has frozen the air in Unuscione's force field. As we've both agreed upon, Bobby will know little and possibly nothing at all about Ultimus. That said, he won't even be aware that Ulimus has an invisible force field around his body. There is really no way for him to "sense" a force field, and with the power that Ultimus has, by the time he might realize why his hits aren't connecting, it will be far too late.

Plus, let's remember that Ultimus has " the ability to manipulate cosmic energy to augment his life force, granting him great longevity and regenerative abilities," which makes techniques he's used against someone of lesser power, like Unuscione, questionable in effectiveness. I agree that Bobby has great potential; but, he just hasn't shown that potential as much as he should have by now.

Winner = Ultimus

Hisako Ichiki (HARLEKIN) bio

vs.

Exodus (KYTRIGGER) bio

th_exodus.jpg

This is a fight where Hisako is just outmatched. Exodus is way more powerful and much more experienced than her. She can create a pretty powerful armor around herself. but Exodus ca ncrush entire cities with his power. Hisako's a great character, but just overpowered here.

Winner- Exodus

I will definately give you kudos on getting her this far and taking out Mandarin and Sphinx. Definately a great run with Hisako.

New Sun (WIEGEABO) bio

vs.

Airwalker (KYTRIGGER) bio

th_Airwalker.jpg
This is a match between two very powerful combatants, but New Sun's character and his surroundings hurt him way too much in this match.

Powers: New Sun is a very powerful mutant that basically controls kinetic energy. He is powerful enough that he lost control and destroyed his reality's earth and is now trying to stop other versions of himself (Gambit) from doing the same.

Air-walker is a robot that is a herald of Galactus. This means that he has control over the power cosmic which gives him great energy manipulation, super-strength, super-speed etc. Basically he does what all heralds do. Also, sicne he is a robot, he has very good healing abilities. he can heal from minor wounds quickly, but major wounds (like being blown where only a pinky is left) take him a while.

Now, a VERY important aspect of New Sun is that he isn't a normal villain. he is actualyl a pretty ghood guy. He values life so much that he has tried to stop other versions of himself from killing their planet like he did. It is obvious that New Sun has a lot of guilt.

Also, it has been shown that New Sun is still afraid of his powers. He even fought Gambit and the X-men using the X-ceutioners weapons and armor instead of using his own powers just to make sure he didn't lose control.

The fact that this battle takes place in a populated area really hurts New Sun. Not only will he be unwilling to hurt the innocent people, but he will be hesitant to use his powers at all even.

This is just something that cannot work against someone as powerful and as good as Air-Walker. Air-Walker doesn't like randomly killing eaither, but he will do whatever it takes to get the job done. He isn't heartless, but being a herald has shown him taht if life must be lost, then it is acceptable.

Air-Walker will go straight for New Sun instantly trying to end it. New Sun has never faced anyone as powerful, and as fast as a herald. He will still be hesitant to use his powers, and any slight hesitation will be too much.

Winner- Air-walker

To avoid putting anyone in danger, all New Sun has to do is steal the kinetic energy from the location. This would effectively put everyone into suspended animation.

And this would also have the effect of 'freezing' Air-Walker in place, giving New Sun plenty of time to attack his opponent.

Also, it has been shown that New Sun is still afraid of his powers. He even fought Gambit and the X-men using the X-ceutioners weapons and armor instead of using his own powers just to make sure he didn't lose control.

Having X-Cutioner's armor gives New Sun more weapons to use. But, probably the best advantage it gives him is the ability to teleport. Not only can he instantly get out of harm's way if the fight goes bad, but he can teleport around Air-Walker, attacking from multiple directions if necessary.

But, with the population safely 'frozen' in place, New Sun doesn't have to worry about hurting them. Thus, he can give his attention to Air-Walker and do things like blow apart pieces of his body. He'd do this to try and distract and hurt him, but once he sees Air-Walker is just a robot, he doesn't have to hold back. He can just blow Air-Walker's body apart. And, even though he can heal from that much damage, by the time Air-Walker was ready to fight again, the match would be over.

This is taken care of by 'removing' the people from the fight. With his total control of kinetic energy, New Sun can prevent anyone from being hurt and turn all that energy onto Air-Walker.

Air-Walker will go straight for New Sun instantly trying to end it. New Sun has never faced anyone as powerful, and as fast as a herald. He will still be hesitant to use his powers, and any slight hesitation will be too much.

The first thing New Sun will do once the match starts is drain the kinetic energy from everything, suspending it in place. That includes Air-Walker.

New Sun may have never fought a herald before, but he has the power to do so. And the ability to turn the herald's power against him.

New Sun wins.

*Exodus

*Warlock - (I know Nimrod will move on; but, I think Warlock's techno-organic virus is something Nimrod hasn't dealt with and would effect him; possibly being assimilated. I think the match works to his advantage.)

*Ultimus

*Air-Walker - (Location really hurts New Sun. He wouldn't be able to go all out.)

Exodus
Nimrod - (I bet he got picked on in school with a name like that)
Ultimus
New Sun - (I do not like the idea of New Sun wantonly freezing people in place, he would kill them due to stopping blood flow, keeping the diaphram from sucking air into the lungs, etc, but those kinetic powers are a force in combat)

Hisako Ichiki
Nimrod -
Warlock could beat Nimrod, but I think you'll get farther with Nimrod.
Ultimus - Too much power.
Air-Walker - Location hurts New Sun here, IMO.

Current standings:
Exodus is beating Hisako Ichiki with 6-2
Nimrod is beating Warlock with 7-1
Ultimus is beating Iceman with 6-2
New Sun is beating Air-Walker with 6-2
