DOFP had huge drop wedsday and dropped to 13th place domesticly.

It has 224 Million domesticly total.

I think we can safely say it defently won't match The Last Stand's
unadjusted domestic gross.

It still did well enough to guarantee an Apocolypse storyline with a decent budget, as long as I see that, im good.

DOFP lost nearly 50% of its remaining theaters so harsh drop was to be expected. This kind of kills its chances of reaching TLS.

Yeah, it's virtually gone here now. Practically overnight too....

Thats a crazy drop for a film still making money. Wow! Spiderman didnt drop that hard.

There's like 50 films being released this holiday. None of them seem to be making much money though. Still, we took a big hit. It's not surprising.

$230 seems the end game now, which is just shy of X3. Still, it can be looked at as a plus since only a few weeks ago we were all certain it was going to bottom out at $220.

Damn it, oh well. The fortunes are not with us, but with Maleficent as usual :whatever:

Would liked to have seen it pass X3 but $230M domestic is great and not what I thought it would have reached.

Still can't believe this may possibly end up somewhere north of $720MM worldwide. That is HUGE!

I agree, with that theater drop it killed any chance. It took weeks for Spidermam to get 1 million on the same theater total. So we are looking at............

229 after next thursday prediction and limp for weeks to 230 where it will close. Then for another three years we have to hear Xmen TLS as being the top grosser in the series.

ugh!

Why did it drop so many theaters, its like someone wanted it to die....

There were 3 moderately sized wide releases opening, and DOFP was already the oldest holdover that still had >2k theaters. Edge of Tomorrow and Fault in Our Stars had similar drops and they were released 2 weeks after. Basically DOFP is almost done at this point. Sucky July 4th weekend box office.

Just saw it again tonight, fifth time now. In 3D. The 3D is actually very good.

It will still be on in 3D during the weekdays at my nearest cinemas, so I might go back for a sixth time!

With the reviews the new Apes is getting I'd expect the movie to take another hit very shortly. I actually wasn't expecting that much from Apes but I'm changing my mind now.

a fifth time, x?? wow, didnt know you liked it THAT much :funny:

I just saw it twice, and thats it. same as FC.

It may not pass TLS in the domestic unadjusted number, but it already past it in the net revenue category (net of production cost) given that TLS cost 10 million more to make. That's enough of a victory for me to solidify DoFP as the most successful film in the franchise.

Just got out from seeing it for the 6th time. Show was just about sold out. Granted, it was in the smaller theater, but there were no seats left once the movie started.

There's a theatre in the St. Louis, MO area (a Wehrenberg) that apparently only shows movies that have been out of the other local theatres within the area. For example, last summer in July, they had a ton of show times for "Olympus Has Fallen." That movie came out in March and was out of my hometown theatre and all the MAJOR theatres...but this place had it.

This theatre doesn't have X-Men yet. They get the movie next week and they have about six or seven show times. It's these types of theatres that are the reason movies actually stay in release for 15-16 weeks.

I'm visiting my uncle next week and we may make a trip up there to see X-Men (for my 7th time). :D.

It will be a slow climb from here on, hopefully it does reach 230 domestically and about 500 overseas. Which would give it a world wide total of 730 million. Sure this wasn't a big hit in the US like other movies that do 300 million plus, but it did seem to increase it's overseas numbers. Hopefully the people who didn't want to see this film do give this film a chance when it comes out on DVD or when they can rent it somewhere and hopefully they want to give X-Men Apocalypse a chance after watching DOFP.

Went to see it tonight and the theater was packed. There were a lot of people there for other movies too. I guess Thursday is the new Friday.

It is this week (at least in the US) because it's July 4th weekend. My office closed at 3 today, so I was able to catch a 4:15 show.

What a big drop :(

Oh well! I hope it reaches 230 million!

Don't even get me started on that one! Its getting close to DOFP's domestic gross!

Nothing seems to be slowing Maleficent down, is Maleficent audience mostly female? Transformers unfortunately took most of X-Men audience and Apes will as well next week.

If only the opening 3day weekend was higher than 100m...
