It wasn't going back if it made $400m ww. They could just make small budget Wolverine films or low budget spin offs to hold the franchise.

Only way it's ever going anywhere is if they buy them back for a ridiculous offer.

Unless you discredit for the toyline coming out a bit first (both started in 84) , that would belong to Transformers. Has had long running comics since the 80s which impacts the films.

Then DOFP is the highest grossing film adaptation based on Marvel characters, happy?

Transformers originated from Toys and thats probably the reason why the other poster doesn't view it as a comic-book film?

Are we gonna view Transformers and X-Men as videogame films too since they were also released in videogames? X-Men has a long history when it comes to videogames.

Transformers has been an ongoing comic (from Marvel as well during 1984-91) and been there pretty much since it's creation which was also in 84. The movies use that mythology from the comics as well as the cartoons. Ultimately both franchises were influenced from the comics and cartoons. Sentinel Prime, The Fallen, Drift and Lockdown are based from the comics amongst others. If X-Men were using specific characters and storylines created in the X-Men video games then yeah that's fair game to view that as part of the film adaption.

But whatever, nitpick however you want.

Well, I actually agree that Transformers is more of a toy adaptation. Probably because it's not a superhero movie with human(oid) heroes having superhuman powers, and most mainstream people are probably aware of them through the toy robots.

For me its more of a toy adaptation regardless of its comic book history.

And despite TF's massive opening. In day to day it's falling to only $2 million ahead of CA: TWS. So it looks like CA will still have the higher domestic gross.

Good weekend for DOFP:

Fri - $197,657 (+49.4%)
Sat - $311,945 (+57.8%) Great Sat increase!
Sun - $201,102 (-35.5%)

Total: $710,704 (-30.6%)

Well if one hasn't read or watched then of course they wouldn't know. When the stories, characters and voices themselves are taken from the cartoon and comics it just makes little sense to me that people can say they are not when they don't follow it in the first place. They are not adapting from only a toyline. That much should be clear with the pop culture impact of the cartoons and when they started in the least, that's what got everyone to buy the toys. Everything started in 84 owned by Hasbro with Marvel and Sunbow co producing The show and Marvel the comics. The Animated movie was actually put out by Marvel as well I believe. It's a full on 30 year old franchise that spans all forms of media, with the current films drawing mostly from it's previously written mythology. As well as creating it's own new toy designs/characters/shows/comics on top of it.

I'd consider Prime and Bee as much a Superhero as any given the term, it usually comes down to being an extremely heroic character with amazing skills. But I have a feeling this will break down into ones own personal definition of the word.

DOFP actully did a little bit better that projections over the weekend. It was projected to do 700,ooo and it did 710,000

If DoFP continues to have 200%+ of what Last Stand had the last few weeks (which is likely), then at the very least it will make 200% of Last Stand's take from the same point in it's run to the end. Last Stand made about 1.7 million more which means that DoFP will make 3.4 million more (at the very least) putting it at a final unadjusted domestic gross of just under $234. I don't believe that it can't make half a million more than that and pass Last Stand.

Mark my words, it's going to happen! I for one cannot wait!!!

The question Is can it stay In enough theatres to make 4 million more domesticly
before leaving theatres domesticly.

If Last Stand can then I would hope so. But that was quite a bit of time ago, so maybe things have changed (hopefully for the better though which is where the extra half a million comes into play). Only time will tell...

Yes, it'll be in theatres for roughly six more weeks (15-16 weeks total).

Thats a good drop! :woot:

I hope Fox will try to expand DOFP! Godzilla just expanded last weekend.

Sadly, the film has finished its run in most of my local cinemas (except one in Birmingham). More than likely, Fox doesn't want to divert attention/money from the success of its own Apes movie.

I was hoping to squeeze in one more screening, but it probably won't happen now.

I feel like I want to buy a gigantic 3D television to see it on when it comes out on Blu-ray! Can't afford it right now, but we can dream!

736,3mil WW and n59 movie of all time! the Matrix 2 (742,1mil) is our next goal and then Monsters U. (743,6mil)

Adding 7,4mil for the rest of its run WW is in reach i think. I hope it beats The Last Stand on the way. Fingers crossed. :):)

If its that close Fox will find a way to push it over just so they can market it as the most successful X-Men film ever.

Fox needs to pull a Warner Bros and expand this fricken movie this week.

C'mon FOX

Hell, if they can expand Blended, they can expand this. This film hasn't deserved to lose so many theatres so fast. if you look at the daily theater average its on par with malecifent nearly every day. The theater dropped killed it.

This is still pulling in top ten theater average.

Godzilla stunk up the planet YET it has nearly the same amount of theaters, lol

They will expand it soon. Every movie these days sees an expansion to dollar theaters later in its run. I expect this expansion to be in 2-3 weeks.

They better do it soon. I just checked BO Mojo and DOFP is only a Million above Maleficent domestically. :(

It doesn't really matter since Maleficent will pass it either way, Maleficent has probably been the only Summer movie thus far with good legs all around. Most say Maleficent will end with about $240 domestically. It will also get close to DOFP word wide total, but I am not sure if it will beat DOFP world wide. I see DOFP ending with about $235 million domestically and about $510+ overseas or so.
