The biggest gains for Apocalypse will be overseas. If the film is great then 850 - 950 m WW is possible. Plenty of momentum coming off DoFP.

Well Apocalypse will beat XDOFP total of 745 mil FOR SURE.
How much more it makes depends on the films quality i guess.

800-1000 mil probably. we ll see in 2 years. Maybe it does even better.

Malificent is from a classic story that pretty much everyone knows. It's clearly a film aimed at families with young children and one of the few PG live action family films of the summer. I get being disappointed when your film gets beat or whatever but come on, this was a family/kids film that hit more of a female audience. Nothing is wrong with the audience for seeing it. They really don't have that many options for family films like this.

Personally, I now try to avoid caring if another film outgrosses DOFP (worldwide and North America) because its just too stressful to watch these box-office results. DOFP is already a big success and I'm sure Fox and the producers are happy.

If I didn't mind that films like Iron Man, Twilight, Avatar outgrossed X-Men films before. Then I shouldn't mind that new films (that I didn't expect to outgross DOFP) are outgrossing X-Men too. Though its still a great feeling if this film lands inside the top ten for the yearly chart of 2014 (worldwide/domestic).

This. I kinda regret getting so into box office numbers since DOFP's release because I care too much about this movie passing that movie etc. It kinda reduces the enjoyment of films themselves sometimes. As long as you enjoy the movie, that should be good enough

Just a quick update on DOFP Box office:

Estimates for this weekend are $147,000. Domestic gross up to $232.7 million.

Also, looking at the theatrical runs of the previous six films, DOFP most likely has another 5-9 weeks left (X3 had an 18 week run, XMO:W had a 22 week run).

Personally, I think it has another seven weeks left .

It will likely get into 233 Million range If it can keep In $100,000 range but remains to be seen if it can get to 234 Million that Last Stand got unadjusted.It's within realm of possibilty it can but it could also fall short of it.

If I were Fox, I would make sure it does. Maybe do what Paramount did last year: double-feature (Star Trek & WWZ).

Instead do X-Men and Apes as a double-feature

So i am happy for the total revival of the franchise.

Well I would want DOFP to finish as top comic book film of year WW but considering how well GotG has performed beyond all box office experts I thought it would be best not to dismiss it.

While i have no intrest in It at least a film that critics and audences consider
quality beat Transformers domesticly.
