Deadpool 2 Deadpool 2 Spoilers Thread

Action goes to this one, IMO. Leitch knows how to handle it better.

Opening international fights, the prison fights, the convoy chase and the ending were all top notch.

I actually even found the end credits of the first one better with him saying 'you're still here' etc.. This one was clever in a Reynolds-meta way but the first film's was just so funny to me

The action in this was better but the story was kinda all over the place, the serious moments really didn't fit well in the movie. It was very entertaining and very fun but I liked the first one better

''Shirt-c***ing'' is possibly another one of my new fav terms alongside ''prison wallet''. :funny:

Not that I will be able to use the second one in many day to day conversations.

I don't know, the true reward for sitting through all the credits was better than 1, imo.

I like the first too, and and it has novelty on its side. I actually agree the emotional connection between Wade and Vanessa is stronger than Wade trying to save Russell (which I still liked). But let's not novelty blind us. Saying the action is better in the first Deadpool when there is almost no action in it is almost overpraising the original.

I will not review this like I do the MCU. Story, action, balance, I dont give a rats ass. Deadpool 2, (and the first) are comedies in the same sense Tropic Thunder is a comedy.

Story action, everything else is secondary. My girlfriend and I laughed our asses off

I felt the serious stuff was really good and necessary. Cant have the whole film constant comedy start to finish, it would wear real thin. Giving Deadpool some real grievances was great and really kept the film investing for me anyway.

And Deadpool is always best when there is an actual emotional core to the story. I'm not a fan of how they fridged Vanessa, but it was the actual emotional core of Deadpool's story.

Yes, I think it was jmc who said these Deadpool movies are the most surprisingly humane or intimate of the superhero movies (probably besides Logan). If you cut out all the jokes and fourth-wall stuff, it is about a screw up trying to do right by other people. No stakes bigger than that, really. It gives a sneaky, stealth kind of depth to the movies.

It's what keeps it from being a straight up parody too like Mel Brooks or Naked Gun or Austin Powers. It does take itself seriously as a superhero movie on a certain level, having its cake and eating it too.

Saw it. Really liked it. I think pound for pound the first one is better, but not by much. I certainly laughed my ass off the entire way through, and liked the story. It was all pretty lightweight stuff, but a good two hours at the cinema.

Juggernaught was great, and the amount the film really leaned into X-men lore surprised me. I’m less interested in an X-Force movie than I am for another Deadpool, to be honest. Be really interesting to see how Disney approach the whole thing.

I think I might have been the only one in my theater who actually heard the words during the Juggernaut's theme - I was dying and the rest of the theater was completely silent.

One of my favourite bits, definitely. Holy s***balls.

Tyler Bates doesn't get enough credit for being a damn good composer. I've loved every superhero movie he's scored, including Watchmen.

That X-men cameo towards the beginning might be one of my favorites ever. It feels so appropriate that the remainder of the X-men just want to steer clear of Wade.

I was hoping to see the ''Cable goes out for guns with his shopping trolley'' scene like the pap pics we got during filming, but must have got cut.

Deleted scenes it is then!

I loved how it was so blink and you’ll miss it fast. Anything more would have spoiled the gag.

It’s weird, but this movie almost felt more like an X-Men movie to me than the last X-Men movie. I think because they did Juggernaught properly (the ‘brother’ chat especially) and leaned in on the comic book stuff rather than the film stuff, it felt like it really was in a living, breathing X-Men universe.

Agreed. I don't think it's a coincidence that it's by far and away the most popular corner of the X-men universe.

That may be but I do think the entirety of the highway fight in the first Deadpool was better than most, if not all the big action set pieces in this one.

It's close now that I think about it a little more but I still prefer the first one overall. I think it just worked better.

Lewis tan posted this. Interesting.

Same here, found myself laughing at a lot of obscure jokes that not everyone caught on to

Worthy follow up to DP and Jugg's was a total surprise for me, Vinnie Jones your legacy is wiped out, haha, at long last! This film went back in time and wiped out a lot of painful memories!!
