Thats exactly why some people just don't care as much, they didn't know anything about him. It was insanely tragic when the accident occured, I remember when everyone was incredibly saddened by that event. The reason why more people talk about Heaths is that it was like aone way mirrorand they were able to know about him through interviews and previous works. Through that people are able to get to know someone. I am sure more people would be just as depressed by Conways accident if they felt they had a strong connection. Unfortunatly we all can't get to know everyone in the world, and if we could life would just be death death death.
That is very true, many of these fans on here were not quite aquinted with Heath before his casting as the joker. Does that make their liking of him any different? Some people genuinly like his other movies. Who are you to decide what these people feel if its genuine?
Hell that is like saying you wouldn't have liked Kurt Cobain if he didn't do the song "Smells like Teen Spirit" It is sometimes through one work that people become familiar with a character.
I do find it odd that some people are still saddened by his departure, but I find even more peculiar that people are trying to tell others how to feel. If they are sad let them be sad. The only way they will get over it is if they choose to, not if you try and hound them into it.
Please don't ever do the, "THAT'S LIKE SAYING" (insert bad analogy) because I don't like Kurt Cobain and I don't like his music and you're doing exactly to me what you don't want done to you. haha.
I have
not told people how to feel. In fact I have gone out of my way to make it a point to say I'm not. I'm just asking why this thread is necessary. Let me try to help you guys out and see what I see in this situation.
A person goes out to see The Dark Knight (and obviously he/she loves it because let's face it this movie is ****ing fantastic). He/she sees a scene in which they see Heath Ledger in a body bag or say something that makes their heart sink or "stink," if you will. (This is where things go downhill) The person comes home and says to him/herself, "I'm going to make a thread to see if OTHER people (that I never met and don't know) feel the same way I did (about someone I don't know) during this one scene in The Dark Knight. It's as though this forum is used to generate some form of closure to ease the pain of his passing)."
You said it yourself. If many of these fans are there because he played the Joker, this makes their genuine disposition really hard to believe. I feel deep down more people care about the fact that he will never be playing the Joker again opposed to the fact that he passed away. My personal feelings are that it's a shame he died but I'm not going to lie and say I ever gave a hoot about anything he did before Dark Knight. Brothers Grimm STILL sucks to this day and I hated a Knights tale. When someone dies it does not mean you have to love everything about them.
Yeah, it's true that people won't know Conway as well as Heath but like you said, it's a one way mirror. People CHOOSE to know Heath. People went out of their way. Are you suggesting that Heath's life was more valuable and rich in his time than Conway's? If you're going to be sad about someone you never knew you might as well give the others you don't know the common courtesy of giving a **** too.
