He added, “What’s interesting for her character is all of this started because she wanted to avenge Sara. Her arc of the season is really going from avenging Sara to honoring her… A lot of the back half of the season is Laurel and Nyssa finding common ground. When we met [Oliver] in the pilot he had already trained. We’re going to get to see that evolution with Laurel.”

So it does seem like the speculation that Nyssa will train her will be true after all? I'm down with that.

someone did ask Marc he said will bring other trainers liked Shiva

What I meant was Laurel and Oliver tend to bump heads a lot, and I can see him try to take the moral ground and dismiss her because of her inexperience. In some cases she will be wrong, but I think she will also challenge him the way Roy was never shown to so far this season. I think she has the potential to start off like Huntress did, who was simply looking for revenge, but I think episode is a good example of her seeing just how much Oliver helps the city, as well as feeling the rush of being in action, and it will definitely evolve into her agreeing to learn (unlike Huntress) and using her abilities for justice, not revenge.

On a side note, I posted a Canary drawing on Instagram that I'm working on and Katie liked it. She's gained a ton of points after that and now I'm really excited to see more of her. :D

It would be pretty badass if she keeps going out, and getting her ass kicked, but continuing on with it and getting better.
Though I'm sure she'll just be magically amazing after taking boxing lessons for a couple months.

Apparently you haven't read a word of what the writers have been saying.q

Well last time we saw her actually training, Ted did try to teach her to adapt to the fighting situations. And I think it was implied that they did more than just boxing. After all, why would she need the robe? That alone implies kick boxing or karate.

My only gripe is how does she know how to use a staff?

I'm gonna go on record and state that "I'm the justice you can't run from!" is one of the most bad-a** 'introduction lines' a fictional character has ever uttered.

I've been waiting for Laurel to don that suit since the Pilot, and, man, was it sweet to see it finally happen.

What have they been saying on the aspect of her training? Because they're going to have to give her something besides just boxing lessons.

Please answer this! Do you plan on just recasting Wild Cat then? If not, how is Laurel going to be trained??

Oh, we’ve got a plan…

The producers teased that the three episode run is very much a showcase for Laurel as she makes her debut on the mean streets of Starling as Black Canary. But determination and a few boxing lessons don’t make a hero: “She clearly doesn’t have Sara’s skill. Sara was essentially Oliver’s equal in a lot of ways. She literally went through the same exact experiences with him and then trained under Ra’s al Ghul,” Kreisberg pointed out. “Half of being a vigilante is, as Nyssa [Katrina Law] would say, being fearless. As Laurel says, it’s being crazy. Right now she has the crazy in spades. The thing about Laurel is — for people who are concerned that she’s going from zero to Black Canary — just because you put on a costume and a mask and run around doesn’t make you anyone else’s equal. She gets stabbed, she gets her ass handed to her, but the thing that’s amazing about Laurel is she just keeps coming and it doesn’t matter how many times she gets knocked down to the mat. And believe me, she gets knocked down to the mat, but she keeps coming back and she won’t be stopped.”

He added, “What’s interesting for her character is all of this started because she wanted to avenge Sara. Wow, Laurel's debut as BC tonight wasn't bad at all. Really liked it.

did laurel and felicity switch roles in this episode?. I found felicity annoying in this episode much like when laurel has her crying moments.

I don't think she does. All she used it for was to hit someone, and I'm pretty sure I (the only sport/physical activity I do is running) could hit someone with a staff. Aside, from that, I thought she looked fairly uncoordinated.

The jury's still out for me on whether the "Justice" line is cheesy or badass. It does sound like something someone might actually have come up with while waiting for thugs to show up.

The line is very much execution-dependant, but what makes it work is the way Katie Cassidy delivered it.

I agree Laurel played it fairly smart and the way she used the bow demonstrated no expertise at all. She swung it like I would, definitely not like Sara would. As far as the line I thought it was totally badass and appropriate for that moment. He just got out of jail because the justice system couldn't hold him.

Nyssa training her would be nice, and somewhat believable imo. She also looks quite good in the costume (which is a nice design to), I'll give her that much.

Eh, I don't know. I thought the line and the delivery were both pretty laughable. I like Katie well enough (even though the show didn't know what to do with her for a while) but I didn't find her little Canary debut to be all that good.

I mean, I can see her using it because Sara used it, but I just thought it was weird considering we had originally seen her use a nightstick. It makes sense if she uses like a stick or a bat like she did, but I really hope she doesn't start twirling it and doing fancy moves with it.

As for the line, I think it worked considering this: The guy she was hunted was clearly guilty, and I believe he shot and really wounded or killed a cop. It's a terrible crime as it is, but considering Laurel, who has a father who is a cop, and is an attorney who tries to use the legal system to get justice, it makes sense to say it against someone who literally ran away from justice and can't be caught by the system.

Her debut was the best thing about the episode. I'm excited what they do with her in the next couple of episodes.

When she kicked the guy then hit te other with the staff, it looked clunky. Like she isn't a master at this, and if it is intentional then I really like it. Also I thought the line was cool and can't wait to see her evolution.

I still find Laurel annoying to be honest.

Felicity's actions made sense, she is in mourning after all.

The biggest complement I could give Laurel this episode was her (I'm paraphrasing) "He's been dead before" given with complete conviction. I thought that was a great moment.
