Crap... So I need to watch again? :funny: I'm all for her being back as Black Siren. She gets to have so much more fun and that's where Cassidy shines. My fear though is they might dumb down her powers.

What he said.

Does she have a nose ring in real life? I never noticed that before. Why doesn't Black Siren wear one then?

She wore this.

I do hope she drops the nose ring. She looks much better without it.

Yeah she does look better without it. But maybe they want to keep it to distinguish her from Laurel Lance.

What if they have a Laurel Lance vs Dinah Drake battle?

TBH as thrilled as I am about Katie coming back, please don't get rid of Dinah. Please. We've gone through enough Canaries. It would be just disturbing to kill off another one. Like, no joke, I'd just roll my eyes and facepalm. It's tiresome at this point. Besides, Juliana Harkavy has been awesome this season and deserves far better than getting shafted after half a season. (Cassidy got shafted too, but at least she had four seasons to her name before that happened). Putting her with Lance would be an...interesting...interpretation of Dinah Drake being Dinah Lance's mother in the comics...especially since Lance was already married to a Dinah. But hey. Just don't kill her off.

Outside of Dinah Drake's initial debut, she hasn't done anything in this show. She has been shafted for the greater part of the series so far.

Glad that Katie Cassidy will return to Arrow as series regular as I may watch Arrow again for the 6th season.

I guess Ill actually pick the series up again, dont know if Ill start with this wednesday or not.

The one episode where her and Wild Dog were stuck in the room after the bomb caused the door to be blocked was funny. Both just standing there waiting to be helped when she could have easily used her sonic cry to blast through.

I assume the plan is that, once Oliver overcomes Prometheus he will develop a much stronger moral code after being picked apart and examined the way Prometheus has done, and seeing the horrible consequences of his methods. I guess part of his new path towards becoming a different type of hero will be redeeming BS, who has gone down a dark path like Oliver, but like him, there is hope for her. My feeling is that after he beats Prometheus, it will be similar to when Tommy died with him changing his methods, but this time there will be less relapses.

It will be interesting to see BS back and used this way, but I don't see them topping this season or coming close to the stuff they have done with Oliver and Prometheus. We will see.

Well certainly not if they make Helix the big bad for next season. I think an organisation hacking things is a bit too abstract a villain for a series like this which relies on Oliver and the team facing a physical opponent.

Did they confirm Helix are the big bad next year?

No I don't think so. People have just been speculating they are though. I hope they're not.

If they are, I am sure new characters will be introduced. HIVE were around since season 2,but Darhk wasn't introduced until season 4.

No but nothing comes for free.

A lot of people think Siren will be part of a big bad team similar to the LoD. I can't really see it happening long term. She would serve much better as their version of Catwoman.

I do wonder if they will bother to find a way to explain LL being back to the general public or just pretend that she sneaks around in the shadows with no one noticing. I think how they handle that will let us know how good the season will be

We'll probably go to the comics setup of mostly trick/tech arrows and less of them piercing flesh and bone.

I like this idea but who would she team with? Malcolm?

What makes you say this?

We do know that Katie Cassidy was chosen by the CW as the female lead, not really by the producers.
We have some very strong evidences that Marc didn't get along too well with her.
They were pretty clear that the death on S4 was going to be permanent.
They said they didn't have any stories left to tell with her character.
They brought Black Siren back only to remind us that Laurel was gone for real and to introduce the new Black Canary (I mean, the episode ends with her being sent away and a new tough girl with a canary cry being introduced)

After her death on S4, the ratings dropped a good amount (I don't believe it was only because of her death that ppl turned away, but it kind was the last drop to make ppl leave)
I'm not watching S5, but from what I read, Arrow's been back to being good, but even so, the ratings haven't recovered yet
Black Siren got a good reception from what I read online

That's why, in my opinion, some higher up told them to bring her back, because I don't believe at all that Marc (who didn't even bother to tell Katie that Sara Lance was being introduced on the show as the Canary, didn't really bother to tell Katie in advance that Laurel was in the grave and stated a lot of times that her character was dead for good) would have a sudden change of heart. But again, that's why I think, and even if it's true, we know they will say something like "it was the plan all along".

PS but I'm happy with this :oldrazz:

Right, but it isn't Laurel that is coming back, but Black Siren. It is a different character, with different dynamics and stories to tell.

The biggest drop in ratings last year came after episode 4 15. The ratings also dropped by a very significant amount on The Flash after episode 15 last season too. The ratings have continued to drop significantly for both shows this season as well. It is very difficult to say for certain what it is down too. There is little to suggest Laurel had anything to do with it, unless she can make people stop watching The Flash too.

Initially, my thoughts were that due to the biggest drop happening after episode 4 15 (the episode where Oliver and Felicity broke up), the main reason was people getting sick of Oliver and Felicity's relationship receiving so much attention. After seeing how The Flash's ratings dropping by a large amount at the same time, it made me think that it was something else.

It is hard to put the drop in ratings on both shows (Supergirls have been dropping a lot too) down to one thing. I highly doubt one character can have such an effect on them.

Perhaps, but I personally think that they feel there are interesting stories to tell with Black Siren, with her fitting the main story too i.e. Oliver redeeming her on his path to becoming a less ruthless kind of hero, after re-evaluating his methods after being picked apart and examined by Prometheus this season, and seeing the horrible consequences to his methods.

I doubt this was planned when they initially killed her. It was probably something they have been considering since the beginning of this season, but wanted to see the reaction to BS on the show first.

Same.

I think a rating drop around this point in the season happens across all RV (just because spring always means lower ratings for tv shows) and it is extremely unlikely it was due to anything in the show.

This sounds fairly accurate.

Yes, I don't think it was exclusive because of Laurel, but the episode right after her funeral had the lowest ratings of Arrow (up until that point, I don't know abot S5) and, If I'm not mistaken, the next four episodes also didn't recover. So, from an executive of the network point of view, they may have thought "Well, let's try to bring her back and see if it changes something" and bringing her as Black Siren is something that I think lots of ppl who liked Laurel were expecting, as we know she can be more fierce and kick ass as that character.

Anyway, for me it doesn't matter why, as long as they have some good stories for her, you know, make her daytime work be at a flower shop lol

No one knows if she will come back exclusively as BS or not. They could take that character in any direction.

She could be part of Ollie's redemption from darkness storyline.

It was, but it was only slightly lesser than episode 16 last season. The more significant drop had happened earlier.
