Arrow Dinah Laurel Lance/Katie Cassidy Thread - Part 4

It being Black Siren in disguise would make the Flash crew look really stupid (especially if it's not addressed on that show at all). That's a HUGE ton of plot development to leave to another show altogether. And having that exposition in Arrow would feel waaaay out of place.

I'm not saying it can't be Black Siren, but I'm not sure how/where they'll fit all this exposition.

Also I recall correctly, Team Flash specified that they were keeping Black Siren in The Pipeline to avoid the uncomfortable questions of why Star City's ex-DA and outed (by Oliver at her funeral) superhero, is suddenly locked up in a metahuman prison in Central City. So I assume that that hasn't changed, and that therefore she's still at Star Labs. Which means that they'd have to explain:

-How Prometheus found out about her in the first place (since even Team Arrow doesn't seem to know about her)?
-Him breaking into Star Labs and releasing her?
-When/if Team Flash realizes that she's gone (or are two stupid to have figured it out)?
-What role she would play in Prometheus's plan?
-Team Flash informing Team Arrow about it (and likely ensuing awkwardness)?
-Etc.

That's A LOT of plot exposition to either keep on one show (The Flash) where it's not plot-relevant, or spread out between two shows, where its only plot-relevant to one.

Yes and no. We've had no confirmation Black Siren is still in the pipeline after flashpoint. Perhaps the way Barry and us as the audience remembered it was retconned with Flashpoint. Which would be just as easy as them explaining "because of flashpoint, laurel is alive" which some people seem to expect.

That sounds, kind of lazy (as does Oliver dealing with another "betrayal" from amongst the group already TBH). And after they've sidelined Thea for most of the season, and taken their only female field team member and turned her into a traitor, to then "bring Laurel back" only to pull this, sounds really lame honestly (especially after the awful was handled).

People want HER back after all.

Thank god I visited this thread. I didn't even know that KC is back in some capacity! I stopped watching halfway last season and only watched the crossover one so now the question is whether the reason she's back is enough for me to watch again...

I really hope she is Black Siren.
She is an already existed character and she was on Earth-1 the last time we saw her. There is a lot of room to develop for Black Siren (although I doubt that is going to happen) and I personally will enjoy seeing her kick Oliver’s butt.
There are problems for her appearance, of course. And I believe some of them could be explain away.
For example: How does she know base and get in? And her sudden involvement on Arrow
There are two explains I think could think about.
The philosopher’s stone has some effect on her and make her start has memories or dreams from Earth-1 Laurel like it did to other characters.
She could work with Prometheus in theory to bring more pain to Oliver. And this could also explain how she gets out from the pipeline, if she is in the pipeline after the flashpoint. But that require he know Black Siren exist and where to find her.
We have no idea what flashpoint change on character. May be she was not in pipeline in the first place.

There's a few possibilities, based on what we know:

1) Ollie is having another dream-state. Which would be annoying considering it's immediately the next episode after his big dream prison.

2) Flashback, but probably not, because it was in the new Arrow lair. So unless it was a flashback to just before Laurel's death or something, but that seems wrong.

3) Black Siren. This is interesting. We haven't seen her post Flashpoint, and even before flashpoint we didn't know much about her. It's possible she led a very similar life to Laurel before Zoom recruited her. Maybe her downfall happened when her Oliver was killed, or something. Who knows. I'd be interested to see a redemption story.

4) Savitar has shown to be able to appear as dead loved ones. This would make me pretty upset if that's the case.

5) Flashpoint changed something about the way Laurel "died" to the extent that Oliver and Company thought she was dead, but maybe she wasn't.

1 & 2 can officially be ruled out due to the 5x10 sneak peak.

4 seems a bit to weird so we can 99% rule that out.

3&5 are the most plausible. Katie has already revealed that she is coming back as Black Siren in Arrow & Flash so it makes sense that this would be Siren. Wendy has said that they've found a way to have Laurel be alive that may be due to Flashpoint but that doesn't mean that she just doesn't consider Siren to be "Laurel"

Which is one of three things.

1) Either this Wendy person doesn't know enough about the characters on the show to being saying anything...

Wendy is the 2nd showrunner so I would hope she knows enough about the characters on the show lol.

Wasn't Wendy there from the beginning?

I initially thought she was brought on in season 3 and was responsible for its downfall that season, but she was actually promoted to EP after being a writer and producer since the first season.

She mightve been but she was promoted to co-showrunner for Season 4. Of course it didn't bode well for us since she didn't really become a good counterpoint to MG. Had such high hopes for her.

Why would the series kill off a character who spent years becoming Black Canary? She was fully developed, she worked first as a legal aid attorney and then as an assistant district attorney, she overcame personal demons like substance abuse and alcohol addiction — she was perfectly suited to play lawyer and hero — but her journey was brutally cut short.

Sometimes character deaths have far-reaching ramifications, such as when Oliver was driven to be a better hero following Tommy Merlyn’s demise. When Sara died, Laurel took up Sara’s legacy as the Canary. However, Laurel’s death hasn’t motivated anyone on “Arrow” this season. In fact, her death has hindered a lot of character development, particularly in the case of her father, who’s drinking again. If Laurel were still alive, she would be the district attorney working to bring down Church and Prometheus. She could spend her days serving alongside Mayor Queen, Thea and her father, and nights training the new team with Oliver. That would actually be a perfect Season Five, particularly if the show headed down the path to reunite Oliver and Laurel. They could be a daytime political power couple, and kickass superheroes after dark. Unfortunately, that’s no longer able to happen.

They've done this twice now. They brought Caity Lotz back due to fan backlash as well (or at least I believe so). Granted they then sent her to another show. But it's still better than her not being around at all.

Next time, they should think of these things BEFOREHAND!!

What never made sense to me is that they spent like three seasons building up to her becoming BC, constantly talked about how excited they were to do it, Katie also talked about being excited to do it, they brought back Sara to serve as a sort of-inspirational "proto Canary." Then they killed Sara off to also further this character growth, etc.

And then, after all of that, once she actually was BC, it's like they suddenly didn't know what to do with her. She was just, kind of there, most of the time. And then SHE was the one that they picked to kill off. It was, bizarre.

Love that image. I actually would have preferred something like this, where Oliver is just wandering past her memorial deep in thought and happens to see her standing there.

Would actually work better than her suddenly being in the new Arrow Cave.

Just hearing that Felicity will be skeptical 100% confirms my theory for me. Felicity is very rarely, if at all ever allowed to be wrong in Arrow. This will be used to have Oliver do a whole "shouldve gone with your instinct"

To be honest, I'm more surprised to see that Oliver is allowed to have a girlfriend that isn't Felicity.

They didn't even have Oliver comfort her much. After he told them, he went straight to Susan Williams, and this was in an episode after he declared his love for Laurel. There is little to suggest they are planning to bring back Olicity soon.

I sadly feel like the moral of this season is to get Oliver to move on from Laurel.
