Arrow Dinah Laurel Lance/Katie Cassidy Thread - Part 4

I need Black Siren to become the Faith (btvs/Angel) of this universe. Bring her in full time for LoT next season.

I don't know. Isn't she responsible for murdering hundreds, if not thousands, of people on Earth 2 when she served as Zoom's second in command? Black Siren was capable of levelling entire buildings and I doubt that she waiting for everyone to evacuate the building before knocking it down.

A redemption storyline would be possible, but I don't have a lot of faith in the producers wanting to follow that storyline or the writers crafting a credible redemption story for E2 Laurel Lance.

She wouldn't be the first villain to cross sides after being a big bad. Faith was fine with her wannabe daddy, The Mayor bringing the potential end of the world.

Faith didn't personally try to murder hundreds of people. And Black Siren utterly lacks all the story elements that would provide justification for how a not-monstrous person could make some truly terrible decisions. In fact, her most recent appearance was specifically about her skewering just such ideas.

FAith helped the mayor bring an apocalipse and tried to kill Angel. And at the end they made a good redemption arc for her, keeping her the badass she was.

In Flash they made it pretty clear that the metas who didn't help Zoom ended up dead. As she said on the Arrow episode (thanks for youtube :-)) after her Oliver died, she made a bad decision after bad decision. Seeing Oliver alive could really have a impact on her.
I also think Black Siren's character plays to the strenghts of Katie Cassidy, more of a happy bad girl atitude. But, as long as the producers stays the same, I'm not holding any hope for that.

Well Black Siren could help the Mayor out here too. Maybe help him get rid of Felicity once and for all.

Before we get into the negatives of the Laurel fake out, we have to give credit where credit is due. Katie Cassidy exceeds all expectations in this episode. First introduced in an episode of The Flash last season, Black Siren is the perfect addition to the Arrowverse and is a great example of an Earth 2 counterpart. Cassidy always played Laurel extremely well, but her work as Black Siren is simply extraordinary. She defies expectations and makes us miss Cassidy’s presence on Arrow even more. From the moment she reveals herself as Black Siren, Cassidy owns the episode.

Sounds as if KC arc on LoT wont be happening (this season at least)

I dislike this dude so much. Wish he would get the boot.

After that new spoiler (which I saw coming from a mile away) my theory for officially disliking Katie Cassidy is like 99% full. They have officially stripped the girl of EVERYTHING on the show. Every title she has ever had is officially given to someone new, she has to give up the Black Canary title, she has to give the Dinah name (which they barely even let her have since they thought it was "to old" back in the day but now it is just fine), she had to give up her love interest role.

Something tells me the conflict between KC and Guggenheim is still on.

It would seem like it. Otherwise, why take everything that they have done and could have done with Katie Cassidy's role and simply give it to a replacement actor in an incredibly similar (i.e. nearly identical) role?

I wonder what went on behind the scenes. It seemed as though she was friendly with most of the cast. Did she upset Amell? Guggenheim? Someone else?

If they dont want to her just the tiniest bit justice, just dont bother bringing her back.

As an alternative theory, could it all be down to the DC Films arm meddling with the TV shows? Did they order Sara's Canary to be killed off to free up the "Black Canary" for the film division, but then changed their mind. Did they then order Laurel's "Black Canary" to be killed off to free up "Black Canary" for the film division, but then changed their mind again?

So what's this new spoiler you're referring to? They're giving the Dinah name to someone else?

The new Canary 4.0 Tina Bowland is actually named Dinah Drake. Tina aws just her undercover name as a cop.

I can't see Katie appearing in Arrow or Legends again as they're run by Guggenheim.

It probably add further salt to the wound if this new BC ends up becoming romantically involved with Oliver as well, later down on the line.

Hmm, Katie Cassidy posted a photo of herself doing work for a video game months ago and it was highly speculated that it was for Injustice 2, even before the game was announced, But that doesn't seem to be the case now. I wonder what it was for

That's probably going to happen, seeing as there's literally no one else left.

It could be similar to what they did with Amell in the first one, where she voices an alternate skin.

I just resigned to the situation that Katie was going to be BC originally. But their must have been a lot of bad blood between her Amell or the producers. Then Sara became more popular among people...which didn't help. Finally, they just cut the cord and went the Dinah Drake route. Since the fans are going to be upset about it. Either no BC or the Drake route. They went with having an new BC.

The name thing, was really really contrived, and groan-inducing. And given how poorly they've handled their female characters in the past (and present actually), I'm not exactly optimistic about this new one.

I haven't followed this season, but that's the impression I get.
