I hate working on Saturdays.

When I was younger and not so self-reliant, I was asked about scheduling at a new job. I told them matter of factly "I will work any day, any time, as long as its not Sunday afternoons during the NFL season.

I was essentially offering to work at any time, 24/7, 365, holidays, overtime, etc, except for a four-hour block 16 weeks a year.

They called me at 10 a.m. the third week of the NFL season and when I reminded them of this, they said "We need to you work or you can not come back".

I promptly informed them I no longer worked there.

You made it clear when is the time you want off, and they say you can't come back if you don't come then? If you were lazy most of the time I think it's agreeable, but man is that decision harsh

Yeah, there's something horrible in the human brain that makes us wait until bedtime to become inspired to do something. I had that feeling last night when I felt like writing something just before bed.

Some people are just better workers/thinkers when it's dark and there's nothing going around.

I always did my best stuff between midnight and 4am.

Ethan Van Sciver once said something to the effect that while he might get one panel drawn during the day, he can do an entire page in the middle of the night.

Yeah, I've noticed the same about myself with both writing and drawing. I think it could have some to do with the fact that once you're tired, certain things in your brain/mind don't function the same, almost as though you're not as filtered with your thoughts so you're willing to do things that you wouldn't normally do while you're wide awake.

It can be both a good and bad thing because I've noticed that I'm a lot more honest about my feelings when its late and I've said things to people that I would never admit when I'm well rested.

I was never tired because, back in those days, I'd sleep in the morning.

It's just that I'm a night owl and would prefer to stay up late.
