I think this movie looks pretty interesting. Maybe it's because I don't know anything about the game?

I don't know anything about the game either, but the trailers have definitely struck my fancy. It very much clicks with what I like about the fantasy that talents like those of Frank Frazetta and Boris Vallejo have envisioned in their paintings. Speaking of Frazetta, I do hope Warcraft is successful enough that maybe it'll make those involved with the Fire and Ice-remake, and those on He-Man move more swiftly in getting those off the ground.

I agree. Fire and Ice is great, I hope they make the live action version soon.

Discovered He-Man recently. I knew about the character as a kid, but I used to make fun of him, but now that I've watched a lot of episodes I really like the character. He deserves a new movie.

I don't know much about the game either, but this still doesn't interest me much. It's an interesting concept , but the trailers have no interested me at all

Yeah... I'm less excited now myself. It just looks so clean and digital. I'm really disappointed in Jones there. I think a lot of this technology may have been new to him.

As someone said a ways back: It gives off a "The Hobbit" vibe. I wasn't a big fan of the 2 Hobbit movies I saw.

Also I dont think the trailer has really sold any of the characters as being interesting to me

Yeah remember when I had reservations about the cinematographer? He's not that good.

I mean look at that Ren and Kylo lightsaber battle at the end of The Force Awakens.
I had no idea that it was mostly done on a soundstage. Sure it was night but it all looked so seamless. Then you look at the forests in Warcraft and it has flat lighting and is so green-screen.

Just saw the new TV spot during the AFC game.

i know only one trailer and one spot was released but next trailers they need to show some personality. Show what the characters are like or the movie will just look boring.

EDIT: Hey at least it's trending on Twitter

EDIT 2: Aaaaand most of what I'm seeing on Twitter is negative reponses

I want this to be good, but it really does look generic. And not even pretty. I thought this would be pretty.

I don't see what you guys see, I think the film looks great and its obviously Azeroth to me. As a WC fan I am supremely happy but oh well.

I'm with you, Punisher. I'm happy with what we've seen so far, and I'm getting excited to see this in theaters.

It does look more like a Hobbit movie and not like the classic Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Now look, I could be wrong. But that's just the vibe I'm getting.

For another thing, I have no idea what's going on. Orcs are fighting humans. Orcs are fighting with humans. It doesn't fully establish the good orcs and bad orcs, and I think the audience is having trouble distinguishing them in these TV ads.

What is the threat to Azeroth? Why do the orcs and humans need to band together? I still really have no idea. I'm a gamer, but I've never really been in to Warcraft. I get that fans of Warcraft might understand and like what we are seeing. But how will an average moviegoer get it?

Just by comparison, watch an Avengers trailer. You know Loki is the bad guy. Loki is trying to take over the world. Heroes have to come together to stop him. I'm saying the ad campaign was able to get that across.

I'm not getting that from this film.

Agreed on all accounts.

I guess the larger question is how the Hobbit films turned out so horribly, but aside from my Tolkien bias, this flick looks a lot worse. I am smelling Disney level bomb here, ala Lone Ranger, John Carter, etc. I can't think of a better comparison than The Hobbit, but that at least had the look visually (some spotty CGI aside). This looks and feels bad.

Jackson didn't really want to direct them and based on what he said, he didn't really get the prep time he would've wanted.

Also they turned one book into THREE MOVIES and added in a lot of characters and subplots that didn't belong.

Yeah remember when I had reservations about the cinematographer? He's not that good.

Simon Duggan did films like I Robot, Live Free Or Die Hard, The Great Gatsby and Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge, the guy IS good.

This film is not doing a hell of a lot to win me over. That TV spot certainly didn't help. Maybe you have to be into Warcraft to appreciate it.

True..

I'm not a fan of his digital work thus far, including 300 2. The Great Gatsby was actually visually fine but that's also due to Baz Lurman's style too.

These are suppose to support him being a good cinematographer? Outside of the usual Baz, not seeing a lot of strong work here.

The Hobbit, even adding the Sauron stuff, simply never had enough material to support three films.

This looks much much worse than the Hobbit for me, because none of the human characters are standing out to me. The Hobbit movies at least had great, emotional performances from Martin Freeman, Ian McKellan, and Richard Armitage.
