A good sign for sure, but midnights vary too wildly for me to base much off of them. Especially in a market like China which is changing too fast for trends to settle and have as much predictive value as a mature box office market. We'll know soon enough though whether it's on the cards.
 
According to boxofficemojo AOU has reached 881M worldwide.

Domestic: $318,801,176
Foreign: $562,400,000

This not couting with Tuesday and the opening in China wich was said to be around 30M!
Soon on the 1B mark. Maybe by friday we get there.
 
$1B should definitely be a lock by Friday...Saturday at the very latest.
 
I hope it does well. It's the best movie of the Summer by all accounts.

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” took China by storm Tuesday, earning a mighty $33.9 million.
That marks the biggest opening form any Disney or Marvel film in the People’s Republic by a wide margin. “Iron Man 3″ made roughly half that amount and it took the first “Avengers” two days to hit that number. It also ranks as the highest non-weekend opening day ever in China.

I don't understand it. This is one of the biggest films in the world at the moment in what will probably be their 2nd biggest market. Anyone who knows the 2 languages fluently (and any translator should) should be able to do a half-decent job. :huh::csad:

Yeah, and it's only going to have 4 Saturday's in China instead of 5 like FF7 did. Still, I think it will do well enough.

Yeah. guess it will have done most of its business by the time of what would have been the 5th Saturday anyway.
 
A comparison between AoU & FF7 for OS o.w. in different markets.
Some markets dont have ow. numbers listed for both films to compare. so only the available so far.

But nevertheless AoU beats FF7 in some markets that dont list o.w. for total gross and loses in others but AoU still has a few weeks to catch up.

Australia = 12,97 - 11,17 mil. (1st number is AoU 2nd is FF7)

they seem to be pretty much neck to neck. Im pretty sure AoU will match if not beat FF7 OS total of 1,13. if it fails it will be because of lower numbers in China.

Based on that 1,5 bil WW is a lock. Depending on China it can go up to 1,6-1,7 bil

Anybody think F7 still has enough steam to take the spot of the first Avengers?
 
So, word is China thinks AOU is barely a good movie, compared to F7. WOM will not be strong in China.

I don't think so! They are 51M apart right now...
That's quite a tall order for a movie that has open for so long ago!

Avengers - 1.518
Furious 7 - 1.467
 
I think the fact that FF7 was only a 2d release makes it already more impressive.

I'm pretty sure based on that it has already sold more tickets than A1.
