Age of Ultron Early Avengers 2 Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 2

I have been saying for a while that I think SW will beat AOU, but many have said that it's unlikely it would. I think SW will be huge and could potentially challenge the number 1 or 2 spot for highest grossing movie of all time eventually. I certainly don't think there's any way it won't be in the top 10.

Also, it's got that end of year spot without a whole lot of high profile movies in front of it. That isn't to say one of them won't catch on with people, but right now SW looks like it's situated to make a ton of dough IF it's really good.

While Avengers isn't gonna be number 1 this year, or even 2 or 3, i'm kinda excited to see how this year shows there are in least 4 Billion film franchises around (6 if Minions and Bond do it as well). Last year made it seem as if less people were going to the cinemas, only thing i realy hope now is more original event films.

It can be a bad thing. Since all of those films are sequels and/or nostalgia baits, this may halt the ever cautious big shots from taking a chance with original properties ever more.

I think it's more that the sequels to the big hits get made and show up big at the box office rather than new properties don't get developed. Most of the new stuff doesn't go monster at the BO. For every SW or JW or Furious, you have many, many Divergents, Maze Runners, Golden Compasses, GI Joes, and those that don't really take off into that realm of $1B (though sequels may very well get made of them also).

It depends though, people like Nolan and Bay took their successes as oportunities to finance their oun passion projects, hopefuly, the same will hapen with the people behind these monster hits. Though i doubt Joss Whedon will want to mess around with so much money again.

Look at Disney. They took chances with Lone Ranger, John Carter and Tomorrowland and took a big hit each time.

Instead superhero sequels and Pixar movies have been the most reliable cash cows.

if they didnt have such huge budgets for those films they wouldn't have taken such big hits. I mean who approved a 190m budget for Tomorrowland? Crazy.

4th July I believe.

Looks like Avengers is safe from F7. I mean, it only has it beat by a few thousand but Box Office Mojo has removed F7 from it's tracking site.

Isn't F7 3rd all time?

F7 is just slightly behind Avengers.

It's about $7m behind, which is pretty much nothing on a worldwide basis.

Great, but now there's a T-rex breathing down our neck.

Don't know if you read the wording of the article but it's contradictory as it's referencing BOM and using the correct F7 figure of $1.512B but this is below the $1.518.6B of Avengers.

The supercharged sequel has earned $1.512 billion worldwide as of Tuesday, according to Box Office Mojo, giving it a $2 million advantage over the 2012 superhero assembly.

3 Marvel's The Avengers BV $1,518.6 $623.4 41.0% $895.2 59.0% 2012
4 Furious 7 Uni. $1,511.5 $351.0 23.2% $1,160.5 76.8% 2015

Weird,i remember Furious 7 surpassing Avengers being the big film update of the day.

Exactly? That's what I remember as well. It was around $1,520,000,000?

Box Office Mojo tracks the global take of every movie and it was always a slow climb to 1.5 billion for Furious 7.

It seems it was a mistake. They 've updated it and it still 1511,5

-----------

I think AOU will stay at n3 WW this year with 1,41-1,42 bil.

SW7 will finish with 1,2-1,35 bil ww and i dont see any other movie doing better than that.

P.S. People need to understand that actors are just ACTORS. they dont own comic book rights or their mythos.
Iron Man is IRON MAN and not bob diva jr.He should be grateful he got the chance to be a part of his legend.

A big reason that humanity has failed is that we idolize nobodys. It makes me sad people think actors are "demigods".

My predicted top 4:

1. Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens- $1.8 B
2. Jurassic World- $1.68 B
3. Furious 7- $1.511 B
4. Avengers: Age of Ultron- $1.42 B

So JW is already 11th highest grossing movie now. Will it overtake AOU? Will it catch up with FF7? Skyfall is now just outside the top 10. ET is soon going to be outside the top 50. :(

With all the remakes going on, I'm really surprised no one has remade ET or at least done a sequel to it.

Spielberg considered it back in 1982, but decided against it. He was going to have evil aliens kidnapping Elliot and then ET comes to the rescue, but thought it would ruin the innocence of the first film.

Well it's about due now. He should do it now. It sounds horrible but yet good at the same time. Can't help but hope it gets made. I guarantee you Spielberg has a script laying around somewhere for it. Speaking of Spielberg, wouldn't it be great if he made a F4 film? I know it would never happen but it would be amazing.

I think ET was great for the time it came out but a sequel might not have the same impact now.
