Age of Ultron Early Avengers 2 Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 2

Interesting, I just noticed from the link you posted Age of Ultron released in fewer theaters than Avengers, how did that happen?

According to Screen Daily it has (link's on the previous page). I just don't think the studio is updating the numbers for the press any longer.
 
I would give one of my kidneys and balls to see it pass the 1.4 B mark. Please, Lord, take em.
 
It was at 24.6M in Japan after the week end and needed around 22M there to get past 1.4B so virtually it's even a couple of millions past that mark. But Disney/Buena Vista hasn't updated the os numbers for quite a while. I think they may be saving the announcement for the end of AOU domestic theatrical run (which could be close to the HV release).

But yes it is done and they are going to update it, eventually.
 
Yay! Glad it cleared 1.4B. Civil War will take back what is rightfully ours, you hear that Jurassic World! :o

Yea, my (completely speculative, probably wrong, extremely) early guess would be that Civil War falls smack in between IM3 and AOU.

Really? It's basically an Avengers movie to the GA in the sense that they're all in it. For marketing purposes, the fans see it as an Avengers movie. I know it's still very much a cap movie, but that's not going to stop this from being a huge box office smash.
 
I don't think Civil War will make Avengers/AoU money. While it will be an Avengers movie in all but name, people will see it as a Captain America movie (since most people aren't familiar with the comics). Also, Civil War won't be featuring half of the "big four" (Thor and Hulk) so that will also work against it a small bit. The film that is best to compare it to will be IM3, rather than the Avengers movies IMO. I can definitely see Civil War passing 1 billion dollars WW.
 
Anyone have any idea when they'll expand AOU theater count for the discount theaters? I know it's already playing in some of them but according to BOM, it hasn't yet had the theater increase that normally occurs at this point in a film's releas.
 
Be skeptical. Dubiously sourced articles don't necessarily equal truth.
