The Dark Knight Rises Eckhart on Dent returning: "I could not possibly say."

I still don't get people. The script in bold capitals, Jonah, Eckhart and Thomas' words are more than enough. People need to get that through their head. They can't seem to.

All I can say with certainty is that Eckhart's sly smile has caused one massive crap storm, and a lot of discussion to go along with it. :funny: ;)

Agreed.

Someone needs to tell the little s**t about this crap storm. It's doing my head in...!! :argh:

:woot:

I think it would be cool to have Two-Face in a nightmare for Bruce to haunt him as a "failure" in a scene.

It seems though he is just smiling over the thought of playing the character, he has been asked so many times, he gets it a lot a I bet.

If Bruce Wayne were to die in a film, should we keep it in mind that Batman can still show up in a potential sequel to such a film? Fully alive and breathing and performing bodily functions and such? I think that makes sense. I'm not even sure why I asked. :)

I'm kidding around. Don't kill me...please...

Cue Terry McGinnis. :hehe:

How can you really make that determination so definitively? No one can read his mind.

I'm amazed that people have resorted to completely making up things to avoid admitting that there's a possibility that they've decided not to kill him off after all. As if scripts were ever concrete and decisions were ever unchangeable.

We're just going to have to wait and see. Assuming things or making things up isn't going to resolve the stir-up Eckhart just caused. Only facts will.

Exactly. Nothing's set in stone. The only way we'll know for sure is on 7/20/12.

I don't care if they bring him back or not (dream sequence/flashback or not). Aside from hims Batman films, Nolan's made great films, and I'd expect nothing less with this one.

I really hope he doesn't come back. I love the character, and I love Eckhart, but it would cheapen Dent's arc in the first movie if he lived. The latter third of that movie was devoted to what happened to Harvey Dent and what that meant for Batman, Gordon, and Gotham at large. If that is retroactively changed to "setting up the third movie," then... that's kind of horrible.

Two Face being alive means all the mob members who he put away being out again.

No, it doesn't. Harvey flipping out happened AFTER he got those convictions. It might trigger an investigation, but in the long run the convictions would stand.

I don't know if Two-face will be in TDKR or not, but I notice Eckhardt et al have always been very careful to say HARVEY DENT is dead. Maybe Dent is dead, but Two-face lives. We''l just have to wait and see.

"The public likes you, that's the only reason this might fly."

"If anyone saw this, everything would be undone."

"Harvey's prosecution, everything he fought for, undone."

The film was clearly setting up that Harvey's reputation was the key to his long-term success in taking down the mob. It may not be realistic, but it isn't supposed to be. Just look at the justice system in the DCU.

Ya but it takes the whole Batman on the run thing and throws it out the window. If Harvey is still alive then i dont think their is any chance that they can keep the secret about Harvey killing people.

If and I stress if, he is in the movie it will be in a flashback/dream/fear toxin way.

I mean come on saying... Oh it turns out the guy you thought was dead is still alive is something that would happen in a Michael Bay movie...NOT a Nolan movie. If he liked crap tricks like that then he would have had Ras disappear in the fire in a way to make the audience think hes dead, and then surprise... hes not dead at all. That is what a bad movie maker would do. Instead he as a good movie maker tricks you about the very identity of Ras.

THIS..

but also its not just the convictions they are after. They are trying to completely change Gotham. Harvey stood for their last shread of hope the citizens had, i think Batman and Gordon found this equally if not more important.

I don't see how Two-Face returning cheapens that. If anything, it makes it more dramatic and tense - which, last time I checked, was a good thing for a story.

Seriously, can we please close this thread? It's completely pointless.

All we're doing is covering the same bloody territory again whilst Aaron Eckhart is at home laughing his arse off.

Or you could just leave? Clearly, people are interested in discussing the matter, and if you don't like it, you are conveniently not required to read it.

What the hell is it exactly that's being discussed? Eckhart clearly is having everyone on by being coy and everyone's falling for it hook, line and sinker.

Christopher, Jonah and even Eckhardt have been everything but careful about it; he is dead.

I have been saying this for years. Some people reactively scream "he's dead morons lol" whenever the matter is discussed, as if Two Face was a real person who really died during the making of TDK. Obviously, Nolan et al have always been free to change their minds about anything they like. If your remember that The Joker originally had some part to play in a third movie, then you can see how the (real life, actually happened) death of Heath Ledger might make the reappearance of Two Face a little bit more likely.

Personally, I am skeptical that Dent will return in any form, but to say the matter is settled or that this thread is somehow invalid is just foolish and petulant.
