Trank's reaction to the impending negative reception will be... interesting, no doubt.

Stop quoting people on my ignore list!.
Have you no mercy?

No reviews until release day? How shocking...

Seriously though this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. The only possible press screening we've heard of is 2 days before release and they seem to have moved up any showing that were scheduled before 8/6.

Rotten Tomatoes means diddly squat. Using it to try and prove your point is as meaningless and silly as FOX News and the RNC using national polls to determine which Republican Presidential candidates get to participate in the first official debate on August 6th.

Yet Fox advertised on TV XMen FC's RT score.

Studios even put Rotten Tomatoes's Certified Fresh stamp on slipcovers and artwork of movies that are "Certified Fresh".

And the studios have to pay for the right to use that because it is a Registered Trademark. They wouldn't pay to use it if they thought it was meaningless.

Rotten Tomatoes is a well known name in the industry and studios do use it to gauge critical opinion the same way they use CinemaScore to evaluate audience opinion.

Oh man, I missed out on a lot apparently. So the review embargo was confirmed? I'm going to take a wild guess and assume some people are still denying that's a bad sign.
EDIT: yup, never fails!
It figures that the desperate vocal minority would blow something as silly as a print review 'embargo' completely out of proportion and act like it means anything at all with regards to either the film's quality or the studio's faith in it. :loco: :whatever:

It truly amazes me.

I'm honestly not worried about the quality of The Fantastic Four movie. Anyone want to know why at least? IMHO?

I don't read reviews of something in order to determine its quality. I form my own judgments of something based on the thing itself, not on what someone thought about it.
And that would be your review, and you said is no measure of quality. Unless you men other peoples reviews don't matter, only yours...

This has gone beyond ridiculous, we are going in circles, it's time to let it go, for me at least

FANTASTIC FOUR embargo lifts... 4pm PST the day before the movie comes out. Hmm. (That's for online. Print embargo lifts day of release.)

I think anybody who has been paying attention and watching objectively saw this coming 6 months ago.

This isn't going to be a good movie.

I've stopped using the qualifier: "This isn't going to be a good Fantastic Four movie." because that's no longer needed. This doesn't look like a good movie no matter how you slice it.

Once again, Fox screws FF. :csad:

Good thing is, journalist are gonna be so pissed about this embargo, that no one will be holding off the criticism...

Exactly. Critics aren't objective automatons and they often form opinions before they've seen a film - and then just fill in the details once they've seen it (I don't think any reviewer ever goes into an Adam Sandler film with an open mind).

With the problems reported from the set and the general belief that this was a "film-by-committee" combined with weak trailers that are clearly edited to appeal to a young audience while not showing a hint of quality and now this embargo, 90% of the reviewers will go into this expecting crap. Then they just have do define the crap when they write their review.

Yeah, but for a long time we did think that it probably would be a good film, just not a good Fantastic Four film. Looks like it won't even be that.

Whenever I have found reviewers talking about the late press screenings or the embargo I have seen the same thing, "Uh-Oh". They all know the signs of a studio trying to hide a film. A lot I'm sure have heard a lot of the stories we have (probably not as many as us since I doubt they have followed things quite as close as us) but with all the bad buzz they will probably have thought that its just people exaggerating and hope for the best. But by now I'm sure they will all be reevaluating the stories they have heard about the production problems.

The idea of late embargoes clearly implying a crap film is so obvious and well known by anybody who pays any attention to the film business, that I can't believe it's even being argued now.

If I had been looking forward to this film up until now, I would have to respond to this news: "Oh . . . crap . . . I was hoping it would be better than that."

The idea that anybody would argue this isn't awful news despite the indisputable evidence is baffling to me.

At this point I won't be surprised if this film gets a 27% on Rotten Tomatoes and we still have people arguing that it's a good film.

Yep, even as someone looking forward to this that embargo ain't a good sign, usually that means the studio knows they have a poor movie to release. But I will still look out for the reviews and see what they say.

Most of us saw the warning signs, knew this movie had major problems and had our fears in regards to what the end result would be, but to seemingly have those fears confirmed is no less jarring. I tell you what though, all the details of the production will come out eventually and it should make for interesting reading.

The initial trailer for FFINO didn't at all represent what I wanted out of a Fantastic Four film. But at least it looked like SOMETHING. All the subsequent reveals that show the film's cringeworthy dialogue and amateurish CGI action looks like a steaming pile of NOTHING.

Yup, while I wasn't expecting anything spectacular from the review I thought it might review ok, with this embargo I am having to shift my estimates down. The funny thing is that I have joked that there would be an embargo in the past but now its really happened its a bit of a shock. An embargo until the day before release puts in in exalted company, Green Lantern did the same thing.

If we wait a few years they might do a documentary film on it like Burton's Superman Lives or Jodorowsky's Dune :)

Just to illustrate that this isn't kinda, maybe bad news, but really, really, REALLY bad news, I've added the RT scores to Kahran Ramsus' list

1. The Legend of Hercules (2014) 3%
2. I, Frankenstein (2014) 3%
3. Dark Skies (2013) 40%
4. Movie 43 (2013) 4%
5. Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013) 19%
6. Hansel And Gretel, Witch Hunters (2013) 15%
7. A Haunted House (2013) 10 %
8. R.I.P.D. (2013) 13 %
9. Atlas Shrugged Part II (2012) 4%
10. One for the Money (2012) 2%
11. Gone (2012) 11%
12. The Apparition (2012) 3%
13. House At The End Of The Street (2012) 10%
14. Silent Hill: Revelation 3D (2012) 5%
15. Premium Rush (2012) 75%
16. Atlas Shrugged: Part One (2011) 11%
17. Apollo 18 (2011) 24%
18. Shark Night (2011) 17%
19. Bucky Larson: Born To Be A Star (2011) 0%
20. Spy Kids: All the Time in the World (2011) 22%

Orba, I was thinking the same.

Sad though and I [along with many others I suspect] take no pleasure in seemingly being 'proved right' as, at the end of the day, whether someone was in the positive or negative camp towards this production, there is no winner here - we're ultimately all losers as we all wanted a good FF movie.

I seriously think this will be in the 10-15% range...

Movies get 20-30% just being regular, treating critics with respect... A mediocre film with a disrespectful embargo? Prepare the cameras, the train wreck is coming

I realized this didn't look like something I wanted to see after the first trailer, so I've gotten used to it, but it really is a bummer that Fox didn't put more effort into it to make it as good as it could have been.
