This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]474293[/split]
Classic Sue had a Grace Kelly quality about her. Simple elegant natural beauty.
Mara is a different kind of beauty. More of an 'impish' look about her (imo).
I'm getting tired of saying this over and over again but....THEY'RE TEENAGERS!!! Fox has said they were doing that from the beginning, and this casting has made it almost blindingly obvious. So why are you even expecting "wisdom and experience", when you obviously know the character is going to be at least 17-20 years old? Why are you acting like this is going to be anything but a prequel?
Yep. I can see that.wobbly said:Classic Sue had a Grace Kelly quality about her. Simple elegant natural beauty.

Because......the comic did not start with them as teenagers....only Johnny was a teenager....Reed and Ben were in their mid 30's......Sue was in her mid 20's.....so making them all teens or early 20's is changing many things....that is why so many of us are mad....mad at FOX....mad at everyone involved with the film....the only teenager we ever read about in the FF was Johnny....not every freaking one of them....for over 50 years, Reed started out as the older man who mistakenly took kids and his best friend into space and changed them forever....
Its only overly dramatic to those who really don't care which way this film goes
Is it me, or are you guys maybe being a little overdramatic about this?

You're speaking as if we've already gotten two great Fantastic Four films and FOX is just now f***ing up the franchise with mediocrity and questionably weak casting choices.
I care which way this film goes. I just don't think we have enough information to know what that is yet. The only thing we know for certain is that the casting has skewed younger than what is traditional for the Fantastic Four. That, in of itself, does not bother me. They did that in UFF and that mostly still felt like regular classic Fantastic Four to me, so I'm not super worried.
Asshat Reed, Sue and Thing getting it on, and Goat Doom felt like the fantastic four to you? :/

These long time fans, KNOW those threads....and those threads look to have been CUT.
Reed never came off as an asshat to me, the goat legs we weird but the character was still really well written and they quietly ignored the goat legs later on anyway, and I must have stopped reading before the Ben/Sue thing because I don't remember that.
Oh yes. Goat Doom.

For those saying this is based on UFF, here's what you probably don't realize: you're making two arguments, not one.
The first is obvious...the claim they're basing it on UFF, with no solid evidence to back that up. Reed/Sue/Ben being younger is the only information we have that would suggest that. And even then, it still doesn't add up because Johnny is his 616 counterpart and the same age as them.
The second argument is that UFF has merit to be adapted in the first place. It was the most poorly received Ultimate book out of the original four main titles (USM, Ultimate X-Men, Ultimates, UFF). Its reception and sales lead to its cancellation, along with Ultimate X-Men. Several characterizations were also heavily criticized, especially Reed's.
You're not making FF fans any more optimistic by bringing up UFF. If anything, you're only adding more fuel to their worries.
I'm sorry, but I do not believe that you know much about the 616 FF. Which is fine, that is not necessarily a bad thing.
For those that enjoy the UFF, that is great, and I can see why those that do enjoy the UFF are not too worried about this movie and the casting.
For those that have been fans of 616, many on here for over 40 years, well they definitely have a reason to be pissed. They know these characters inside and out, and have watched all differences brought by each writer and artist, yet all of those writers and artists had threads that ran true through each issue. That's Victor Van Damme, yo. Respect.![]()
