Wow Dozen Actresses! Man i bet it took them the whole day...no wait i'll go with an hour or two for those dozen...

Man, you're a dick.

First, he probably meant it as a figure of speech, not that they interviewed only 12 candidates. Second, he mentions it was the day of the first group of auditions, meaning there were days after with more auditions. Third, have you ever auditioned for a role? I haven't, but it's definitely not reading some lines for 5 minutes and then leaving. They could have spent almost an hour with each candidate. And something as big as this with a character who is going to be on the show for awhile, they're going to take their time.

She'll work.

That's what El Bastardo thinks - your new opinion, what El Bastardo thinks.

A dick? Why just because i think they should have audition more actresses(hundreds), before going with Gwendoline?
And BTW i'm sure "a dozen" is a figure of speech, but i think he used this word, because they didn't even auditione 10 actresses, before going with her. They were too lazy to actuelly look for actresses for the role, so they went with the "brilliant fans" suggestions...
Well i wonder if it means Brienne character going to follow Sandor's character in the show.

Hey, genius, did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, hundreds of actresses did not apply to audition for the role?

You do understand it's the role of agents to set their clients (in this case, the actresses, in case you've gotten lost in the last sentence-and-a-half) up for roles to audition for, don't you?

And there's no way to intelligently liken Brienne's character to Sandor's for purposes of portrayal on the show. One, Brienne is eventually a POV character and grows important to the plot, both peripherally and directly, which Sandor is not. Two, nothing in the portrayal of Sandor on the show hurt his character. Yes, I know it's popular to ***** otherwise, but it's not the case.

As it's been mentioned, Ice is a sword made from Valyrian Steel, a spell-forged metal that holds it's edge forever. They aren't made anymore so it's very prestigious to have one. The Lannisters may have good weapons, but they don't have a Valyrian Steel one. Even Jeor Mormont had one.

isn't needle made of valyrian steel though?

You're just making baseless assumptions and being pissed off about them.

Nope. Gendry only said it was castle-forged steel which (I believe) just means it was made by a lord's blacksmith.

Whatexactly is wrong with the chick they casted? She's tall, sorta homely and with minor prostetics (if not just makeup) she'll nail the look. Who else would you want?

Apparently Isub_Zero wanted it to be like American Idol where they interview millions of people for all of 4 minutes.

does IZ also hate henry cavill and christian bale casting for batman and superman because fans favored both chocies? lol

Yeah, what Bastardo said. Needle is castle forged, which means a swordsmith working for a lord (her dad) made it. As opposed to most people's weapons that's beaten out of whatever quality steel by the blacksmith in town.

Her acting education and experiance, mostly.

She's got plenty of experience. Just because she's someone you're not familiar with doesn't mean she's not good. It's always annoying to see someone claim that someone "doesn't have enough experience" for a role. How are people supposed to get these kinds of roles if they're automatically turned away because they haven't done something high profile enough to suit your own superficial needs? If the guy who created her thinks she embodies the character he wrote so completely, I'd have a lot more faith it that, regardless of how many actresses actually read for the role, something which is nothing but a number. You can have test as many people you want, but until you find what you're looking for, it doesn't matter what the number is. Christie is obviously what they're looking for, she's in the role, move on.

gwendoline is a strictly Broadway Theatre actress prominantly so i am sure she is solid

Not only that, but she has more acting experience and knowledge as well as actual schooling in the art compared to MOST of the others in the show so if the only thing that is bad about her casting is the fact that shes rather inexperienced then wouldn't that speak the same for say Arya, Sans, Robb or Jon? 3 of which are literally main characters throughout the entire series and not just a secondary character then PoV for a book.

So then you have a problem with about 95% of the cast for the show, is what youre really trying to say.

If I remember correctly, this is Kit Harrington's (Jon Snow) first screen role. Where his qualifications at? Hmm? (sarcasm, i'm not serious, I'm on your side, SouLeSS) He's been in plays, but that's about it.

Who cares how many actresses they auditioned, it's just satisfying that they got someone who can at least fit the physical description of the role. It would have been disappointing if they had to change the character to fit a certain actor just because they're high profile.

I would correct that to Joffrey Lannister rather than Baratheon. :P Even though everybody thinks he is a Baratheon.
