He's too young to play Blackfish. Stannis, Edmure, or Davos would be more likely, IMO.
They could make him look older, if necessary. Age of actors is really the last thing anyone should be griping about. Not that you're griping.

I don't like Purefoy as Davos, though. Gut reaction.
Tony Curran as Edmure.

If Clive Owen wasn't too big, he would be great as Stannis..
This is good. I love Tony Curran, and I didn't even think of him. Even Clive Owen would work as Stannis, since he could be his usual stoic, non-emotional self.
Clive Owen hasnt necessarily been big in recent years.

If he is up for it...Stannis can be his or he can play the Red Viper aka one of my favorite characters in the series
Who cares if he's big or not?

No, Clive Owen should not play Oberyn Martell. He lacks the emotional depth.

Come to think of it, Purefoy as the Red Viper could channel his inner Marc Antony again! :awesome:

Clive Owen lacks emotional depth? :wow: Have you seen Children of Men?

Just seems like they'd have to go through a lot of effort to make him look much older than Catelyn. There are a lot of other roles he could play, and many actors who would be a better fit for Blackfish.

Where he plays a mopey, monotone, worn-down man? Yes. I've also seen King Arthur and Sin City, where he plays mopey, monotone, worn-down men. Only they weren't supposed to be.

I'm not bashing him. He just doesn't have a great range. His acting performance in Children of Men is not what makes the movie great, and he as an actor is not integral to the role. The role is powerful enough that it transcends the actor, as with Tyrion, Ned, and Dany, to relate back to this series. The strength of the film is rather in its narrative direction and the mythology it creates, its art direction, directorial style, and its subtext.

Clive would make a good Stannis because of that...Stannis is boring, but its the boring that makes him interesting because everyone else is not so boring

I know that makes little sense but im tired right now

We can talk about Clive Owen until the cows come home but the truth is he isn't going to be in the show. They'll probably go with an English actor none of us have heard of.

thats fine too...no one ever heard of the actor playing Jon Snow before the show and now every female I know that watches the show wants to bear his child

Exactly, I'm hope they don't try and wrangle in some big name actor because this show does not need it.

Granted I've only read 1 chapter with him, but I like him because he's always gotten the short end of the stick. Robert gave him Dragonstone instead of Storm's End, [blackout]then his own brother tries to claim the throne when it should pass to him.[/blackout]

Thirteen nominations, that's excellent but the Emmy for Best Supporting should definitely be a locked-down win for Dinklage. :woot::up:

The main titles nomination should be in the bag I would think. Now I can actually watch the Emmys.

Definitely the main titles yeah and wow, HBO snags 104 nominations for their shows together, loved it, it's deserving for one of if not the best network.

Game of thrones got jobbed..No main title music? That is where it would have picked up a win..instead giving it to Camelot? huh

I love how there is going to be no off season for Game of thrones..we get casting news..award news...book stuff/book signing tours/Video game, then Blu Ray DVD box set.

Well deserved, especially for Dinklage. A genre show on a cable network is getting its props, thank the gods.

Wow, really happy about the Emmy nods. That's really awesome

Dinklage ftw!
