I agree. Certain changes are not always so bad. Jurassic Park and The Lost World were both way better than the original books.

thats just ridiculous.....the first film was great....The Lost World (novel) is 10x better than that cinematic abortion

GRRM himself even made changes when he wrote his episode in season one. The books are a guideline... a road map...not the be-all-end-all.

Actually, what I originally meant is to start with the same premise, make a change somewhere down the line and see where that takes them? Other book-based TV series have done that and they worked (for the better).

I just finished second book, and I've decided I actually prefer the HBO series. Most of the "writing" in the book seem like filler just to keep the story going. I've actually already purchased book 3 and 4, but I don't think i'll get around to reading the the two anytime soon.

There are one or two characters I took a strong liking to from reading, but everything just drags on and is so poorly over detailed. 1/3 of the books seems to detail different characters having a dreams and what they ate. I'm anxious for HBO's second season. As of right now, the two books have left me more than slightly disappointed.

More casting news:

Word is that a character Gregor Clegane a.k.a. The Mountain That Rides (the guy who cut off his own horse's head) has been recast. This seems to be backed by the actor confirming and elaborating on the situation.

Seems like the actor who played Gregor had scheduling conflicts with The Hobbit. Won't be that big a deal since he really only had 1 scene in 1 episode. He's pretty much just in the background most of ACOK and ASOS [blackout]until the very end[/blackout].

He could be subject to death in either of those seasons, the TV viewer does not know that. Spoiler it up

Yeah it's not that big of a deal because

he doesn't do much "onscreen" in the second book. He stomps around and says very little. It's his crew that do the most "damage" so to speak. They'll probably just put this new dude in the armor and maybe bring back Stevens for the big scene he has in season 3 or 4.

I think BWE has something like 80% of its sets created digitally.

I'm excited knowing that Neil Marshall is directing the episode that GRRM wrote for the season 2, "Blackwater", **** yeah. Marshall is good when it comes to shooting battle scenes and [BLACKOUT]the Battle of the Blackwater[/BLACKOUT] is as good as it comes.
