"I am Daenerys Stormborn and I will take what is mine through fire and blood!".

:awesome:

Just preordered the first season on Blu-ray from Amazon. Using a gift card I had, total came to $30 including shipping. *does happy dance*

It's always nice getting things for such a great price! :)

Especially for an HBO series, where the average price is usually around $70-$90 for a season on DVD.

List price maybe, but I've never paid more than $40 for Blu-Ray at Best Buy on the day the seasons come out. :)

It's damn good television. Though I really hope they won't run out of money for battles this time.

Well in the second book, there is really only one battle that you see. There are three or four others that happen, but none of the POV characters are there. Though one of them could be done rather low budget I think, so we may see it. But the big one, [blackout]Blackwater and battle for King's Landing[/blackout] will be very hard to do on a TV budget, I suspect.

The [BLACKOUT]Blackwater[/BLACKOUT] episode is directed by Neil Marshall and it's written by GRRM himself. He and Dinklage promised it'll be better this season, but the only way we'll find out is seeing it for ourselves.

Onion Knight!

This season is the only one they have to pony up for to do a major battle. ASOS has a battle but you don't really see it in its entirety and AFFC has no battles, just some fights.

The battle [BLACKOUT]at the wall[/BLACKOUT] is pretty big.
It will probably last several episodes because there are many chapters devoted to it. Plus it involves giants and mamoths. I bet they show a lot of it from the top of the wall perspective though.

I didn't really get the sense you see everything from beginning to end and I don't think there's a POV character who is in the entire fight whereas there are 2 in Blackwater plus a POV watching it. Because it's at the wall, they can use tricks to make it not cost as much as Blackwater will.

Well I count as the beginning of that battle is when the Magnar of Thenns (with Ygritte) invade Clastle Black from the South. But you're right in that pretty much all of it is from Jon's point of view (and maybe Sam's I can't remember)

Is anyone else hoping that they combine the events of "A Feast for Crows" and "A Dance With Dragons" for the show since both books take place at the same time? [BLACKOUT]I don't think HBO would want to risk not having Tyrion and Daenerys around for an entire season when the time comes to adapt AFFC.[/BLACKOUT]

They should since AFFC and all but the later chapters of ADWD take place at the same time. I still have not read ADWD, but there was a lot in AFFC that they could cut.

I'm pretty sure Benioff and Weiss said early on that it was their plan to combine the books since the events happen concurrently.

Of course, things could change in 3/4 years.

So who can spoiler who the Black Trout is for me? Heard he was in the first book but not season.

You mean Black Fish.
He is Brynden Tully, Catelyn's uncle and Lord Hoster Tully's younger brother. He never got along well with Hoster who called him the black goat of the family to which he replied "You mean black fish." His personal coat of arms is a black fish on a red & blue field. He never married (people speculate either he's gay or had a lost love, possibly his brother's wife, but there is no proof of either). Catelyn and her siblings (Lysa and Edmure) were all close to him. He was the Knight of the Gate (ie gatekeeper of the Eyrie) for Lysa and her husband, Jon Arryn. When Catelyn left after Tyiron's trial, he went with her because of how paranoid Lysa was becoming. He became a close adviser to Robb and goes with him in his campaign that occurs during A Clash of Kings.

That was exactly what I asked for! Thank you. Anyword on if his appearance maybe got moved to this second season or if the character has been cut as a whole?

They never announced his role being cast, so probably not. I hope his character isn't cut. He's the most likable Tully and has an important role in book 4.
