Yes it would. This show at 10 episodes cost a lot already. It is only going to keep increasing with each passing season. You want a Rome? You want the show to be left unfinished?

To be fair Rome was never nearly as popular as GoT was and of course it's budget didn't help.

For me i think it more so that episodes would be of poorer production value per episode if there were more per season. They've got a set budget per season i think anywhere from $50-70 million. So would you rather divide that up by 10 or 12+ where each individual episode would suffer?

It's quality over quantity. Although there's a part of me that would love it if each season had a LOTR trilogy sized budget mainly for the battles and such.

yea GoT is pretty strong. i don't see a problem with 12 episodes.... or... by the old gods and the new... get rid of the 15 minute intro and 'previously on' stuff and fill the full hour.

mmh I was in fact missing something, I just read a brief summary on GoTwiki and I had forgotten or didn't understand the part where Ron divided a plan to retake Winterfell allowing Theon men to escape while abandonning him.

Honestly, I kinda doubt it will even stay since it wasn't THAT important. I think what they might do is have Robb discuss it with his council and Cat. I'd picture it like this:

Cat goes through the distant, living relatives of Starks.
Robb: How can I trust any of them with my Kingdom? Whatever little is left of it anyway.
Cat: There is...Jon.
Rob: ...and you'd be okay with that?
Cat: A Snow is not a Stark, but he does have Stark blood. And we can trust him.
Robb: Are you sure?

Robb: Very well. I'll legitimize Jon, pardon him from the Watch, and name him my heir until I have a son of my own.

Personally, I think it's a fairly major one. Either way, I already knew about that scene; having read the first three books - albeit years ago. However, last thing I want is for a book naive forumer to accidentally stumble on it thinking it's an inconsequential one.hin Especially since the contents of the spoiler tag looked to be blind speculation without specific spoiler details.

He was a very large (think like a sumo wrestler) pit fighter from Mereen, a city on Slaver's Bay (near were Dany is now). Barristan Selmy pretended to be Artsan Whitebeard, his squire. Belwas would let an opponent cut him once before he would retaliate/kill them.

After trying to get through the 2nd episode I've come to the conclusion that part of the reason I liked the first 2 seasons so well was because I had waited until they were done before I started watching them allowing me to see them all in one fell swoop. I'm gonna hold off seeing season 3 until it's over and then just do the same thing.

I'm too weak to do that, but this show definitely works better watching an entire season in one or two chunks.

Great episode, I am loving the Tyrells, Margery seems to be the only person who can manipulate Joffrey and she does it superbly. Grandmother Tyrell was superb as well, loved seeing the Hound back, and wow, Brienne beating JAMIE LANNISTER is sword fight no less, amazing stuff, and great ending.

I thought only Barristan Selmy and maybe Lloris Tyrell could compete with Jamie?

Well, it was hardly equal ground, was it? Brienne was fully armoured whilst Jamie wasn't, his hands were tied and he'd been a prisoner for months.

I've wondered who Jamie was referring to when he said "only three people can beat me, and you're not one of them." Barristan is definitely one, then I wasn't sure if he was referring to the Hound and the Mountain (both terrifying fighters in their own right), or possibly Lloris. Though I do seem to remember book Jamie acknowledging Lloris' skill, but not thinking he was at the same level as Jamie yet. Though I'm not sure on that.

And Brienne is quite a fearsome fighter. I'm not sure if she would be able to beat Jamie at his full strength, but it would be a hell of a fight even then.
