I don't think we're talking about the same guy, but I didn't want to name him outright. So now I will. Don't open this unless you want THE SHOW RUINED

I was referring to the greenseer, not old Coldhands

No that's who I was thinking of
The "three eyed crow" is Brynden Rivers also known as Bloodraven. He was a known warg and was Hand of the King back in the Dunk and Egg short stories. He's kind of "turned/grown" into a tree when Bran encounters him. So he's very old. probably 20-30 years older than Maester Aemon (who's about 100 years old) He has a bastard name because he is a Blackfyre which is a Bastard offspring family of the Targaryens that started a rebellion. Bloodraven betrayed his own family at a key battle and during the rebellion and maneuvered his way to Hand of the King. How he's a weirwood tree north of the wall now is still a mystery.

Technically Bloodraven was the only Targaryen bastard that was loyal to his family. He stayed loyal to Daeron.

You're right. There's so much Targaryen backstory that the show needs to get moving on for things to "make sense".

Well, I suppose that's where the Dunk and Egg spin off that GRRM was working with HBO on comes in handy. Though who knows when that's gonna come out.

Exactly! Well, it's too late. Maybe your brothers will avenge your death.

I doubt it. The only one I can depend on is cousin Bob, and he isn't the coldest cube in the freezer, if ya know what I mean.

Charles is just bitter he's one of the few characters to not get any "rumpy pumpy" on the show.

Someone asked Charles how he felt about the show; at the time of the quote, he had seen the first two episodes of S1.

Question regarding episode 9:

MAJOR SPOILERS DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK!!!

Do y'all think the RW will be as a big of a shock as Ned's death? I'm not so sure it will be. They are practically screaming that Robb has screwed up, and that something bad is destined for him. Also, unlike Ned, Rob has had significantly less screen time, and isn't billed as the face of the show like Ned. Rob's death will most likely be viewed as "Well, he kinda had it coming." Whereas with Ned it was like "WTF they killed their main character in episode 9 of the show!!!" The RW is truly shocking, but in the show I'm just not sure it's going to top the sucker punch that was Ned's death.

Well to me
it wasn't as much of a shock as Ned's death in the books either. But the brutality of it is shocking. Plus the way Cat goes out is kind of shocking as well. I hope they leave her ripping her own face up. To me the big shockers of book 3 are after the RW. "Say her name!"...

It will be shocking if it's as graphic as I pictured it in the book. Especially what they do afterwards.

Yeah, I wonder if they will throw Cat in the river and sow Grey Winds head on Robb's body like in the book? That is some imagery that will stick with people. I can kind of see them not throwing Cat in the river, because in the books Lady Stroneheart is decayed from her time in the water. That could up make-up and effects costs so I could see them either not having Cat thrown in the river or they make it so her body is partially rejuvinated when she is resurrected. I can't believe we have reached this episode!

Regarding Cat's resurrection, I was originally against it being in episode 10, but that would make one hell of a final scene. Then next season they could use her or just have people throughout the season talking about Freys turning up dead mysteriously and rumors of a shade moving through Westeros.

Spoiler tags or not, can people stop posting every single detail about events that will happen?

I forgot to post this in here when I first found out...

Benioff and Weiss Writing An Episode Of It's Always Sunny Next Season

I think a spoilery thread might be the way to go if people want to know book spoilers but aren't interested in discussing the books. I understand wanting to go unspoiled but if people keep asking the questions then it's going to get answered.

Any question whose answer is in AFFC or ADWD shouldn't be given here. And if you're going to answer a question, you don't need to give every single detail about what happens. For example, you can just say "Stannis is defeated when he tries to take King's Landing." You don't need to say "Tyrion uses wildfire on the ships and then the Tyrells come and help."

Awwwwwwww, I'm sorry :(

On a serious note, I'd love this show to show in the future that the White Walkers are great swordsmen. So even if someone uses dragonglass/obsidian once their weakness becomes more well-known, they can still fight them off with their deadly sword.

Granted, you were old :oldrazz: but maybe some other younger & spunkier white walkers can kick ass.

Well...

I think the shock will be with the sheer slaughter. Depending on how they do things, I could see them ending the episode with is seeming like Rob, Cat, and Arya have all been taken out. Obviously Arya would pop up in the next episode with a lump on her head, but to even imply that not one, not two, but three of your main characters gets killed in what's bound to be a 5 to 10 minute period is pretty ballsy.

What I wonder is if the TV audience has really picked up on the Rains of Castamere at this point. In the books, the whole thing is thoroughly engrained with the Lannister name at this point, and as soon as you start to hear the words, you know all is lost. I'm not sure the audience will be able to have that same moment.

Also, I rewatched "The Bear and the Maiden Fair" and caught Jaime's line to Roose Bolton, "Make sure to tell Robb Stark that the Lannisters send their regards." So great.

Considering almost all the banging they've shown in the series has been anal, it's kind of amazing King Robert had so many bastards...

... wait, is that how women get pregnant in Westeros?!?

They have set the Rains of Castamere up well enough so that the audience should get it. Especially after Cersie's little discussion with Margarey in episode 8.

I loved Arya being happy once the Hound told her where he was taking her.

Also, Sam is more brave than I thought. He can't see well, he's scared of heights, he's a coward, but he still went to look outside & the way his face was during and after he said "I just want to look" and he blinked and stuff, he felt to 'fragile' - so timid. And he still goes. Awesome.
