Game of Thrones - HBO part 2 - Part 9

^^That was probably the dumbest argument and response on here I have ever read.

Are you referring to mine and how I basically said her wanting to abolish slavery is a bad idea?

I'm coming from the perspective a book reader. I know what happens later as fallout from this and its effect on her story in general. I really grew to hate her chapters because of how little happens, despite liking the character early on. In ADWD, I groaned whenever I saw "Daenerys" as the next chapter.

I'm not saying she shouldn't free slaves, but doing it in her position is foolish. She'd have more influence when she's Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.

Sidenote: The scenes with Ramsey and Theon started becoming very tedious and overdone. We get it...Ramsey is sick and Theon is being tortured. Way to beat a dead horse.

lol they havent even been in the episodes the past like 3 weeks.

anyways, I enjoyed the finale... but that Dany scene was just not needed at all and came off weird as hell to me. Definitely should have ended the episode differently. lol Dany is very trusting to walk into a sea of people, who she doesn't know, alone. but whatever.

Cannot stand that they barely mentioned Cat at all.

Yes it was yours. She can't storm Westeros yet with teenager dragons and barely an army. She has no gold. All she can do is gain followers and how she is doing that is by freeing slave cities to gain soldiers to die for her in battle. Her story is a slow boil obviously...I don't know what people keep expecting. Rome wasn't built in a day yes? Just last season, she had a rag tag team of Dathraki. Now she has a few ships and a over 10,000 soldiers now.

That's really neither here or there. It's my opinion that it was overdone and the audience just kept getting beat over the head with it. I was so annoyed when we revisited Ramsey and Theon again during the finale. The finale already wasn't very eventful...I really didn't care to see another exchange between these two this season. That's all.

That is kinda here and there though. The finale wasn't eventful yes, but no finale has been eventful yet...it's all been in the 9th episodes. The first two seasons had OMG moments and this one really didn't yes.

This season, the creators hit the fast-forward on several characters' stories. Biggest example is Arya who was found by a former Northman who joined the Brotherhood and recognized her. There were like 3 chapters of them just roaming around before meeting Lord Beric. If the show gives Dany's this treatment, I'll be satisfied.

I don't think I'll be fully invested in Dany's storyline until she interacts with the lannisters/starks/etc.

I was disappointed by the ending. I was so convinced that it was going to end with [BLACKOUT]Lady Stoneheart[/BLACKOUT] that I even hoped that it would show up after the credits. I was expecting a "Holy ****" ending, but I guess they exhausted that reaction after the Red Wedding last week. Overall, I thought it was a better finale than the last episode of season 2 save for the ending. White Walkers >>>>> Freed Slaves. But even so, season three has been the best season so far.

The Robb-Grey Wind scene was grotesque, and it looked much better than that still that was released. It was still missing the crown, though.

Tywin Lannister is an amazing character. I went from cheering him on when he put Joffrey in his place to loathing him when he talked about how he wanted to drown Tyrion as a baby, all in the same scene.

I liked the scene at the Iron Islands, but I was hoping that maybe they'd show [BLACKOUT]Balon Greyjoy's death[/BLACKOUT], since it happens around this point in the book. At least they finally revealed that it's Ramsay Bolton who's torturing Theon, which really comes as no surprise to anyone who's read the books. And I liked that they brought in the "Reek" aspect of his story.

I liked the part where Sam met up with Bran in the books, so I was glad to see it play out on screen. It was also cool to see Castle Black again for the first time since season one.

The scene with Jon and Ygritte was heartbreaking, especially knowing what's coming.

Finally, the scene with Arya and the Hound where they kill the Frey soldiers was probably my favorite in the episode. Valar Morghulis, indeed.

Season 4 is going to be epic.

Btw, what the hell...They introduce us to Mance Rayder and basically poof he is no longer around this season lol

What if we're approaching this from the wrong perspective...what if he Starks are are suppose to be the villains of the story?

Wow, what a horrible SEASON FINALE! Red wedding DEFINITELY should have been the finale.

"Any man who must say 'I am the King' is no true King."

Oh, Tywin, you glorious bastard. If I didn't hate you so much, I'd love you. :o

"You know nothing, Jon Snow."

"I do know something. I know that I love you!"

*Ygritte proceeds to shoot him with ****ing arrows*

The Ramsay/Theon stuff here is just laying the seeds for what's to come.

Reek had the best story/chapters of anyone in ADWD and probably some of the best stuff Martin has ever written.

Talkin 'bout my mama?

Was Reek an alias Martin used to "disguise" Ramsay like he did Barristan Selmy?

Decent episode, but kind of weak as a finale.

I thought the scene with the Greyjoys was kind of funny. Compare the exchange between Balon and his daughter to Tywin and Cersei.

Was Ygritte trying to kill Jon or just trying to put a hurtin' on him?

Think she was just hurt by him abandoning her, feel like if she wanted to kill him she would have with the first shot

The way Game of Thrones goes...(and speaking as someone whose only a quarter of the way through book one) Dany shouldn't get very far. She can't.

Yeah, I agree with you guys. It's too bad, but this episode was underwhelming. I thought Dany having her men return, covered in blood, with us unsure if she's taken the city was more impressive than the final scene we got here.

It feels like 'The Rains of Castamere' was really the season finale, and this felt more like an epilogue to it. But, it's been a fantastic season. Absolutely so.

Now, the long wait begins.

In a really weird way. Originally, Ramsey was thought to be a casualty of war and "Reek" showed up at Winterfell during Theon's takeover. Reek was kind of the role that Dagmer took over in the show, and betrayed Theon once the rest of his army showed up. Two books later, Reek becomes a POV character, but the circumstances and character descriptions don't match up from previously, and at some point the reader realizes this is Theon, brainwashed and crazy from the torture.

The show probably cut their losses by not trying to have a "reveal" for a character that you wouldn't have even heard of except in passing, but I really liked the book's way of slowly cluing you into the horror.
