Also is Tywin straight up drugging Joffrey?

Why the hell did no one else think of that?

Was Reek an alias Martin used to "disguise" Ramsay like he did Barristan Selmy?

yeah when Theon first meets Ramsay he gains his trust by saying his name is "Reek". Ramsay used to have a friend named Reek whose identity he stole.

Well, I liked it. No crazy-ness but wasn't needed after last week.

Arya is still my favorite and will continue to be. I love how much Sam has grown, his meet-up with Bran was wonderful. #HORDORHORdorhordor

Dany, you're awesome and sexy and dragons and **** but I'm bored by this whole Abraham Lincoln/Martin Luther King JR tirade you're on.

Oh, all Lannister scenes (even though I want to murder them all except for Tyrion) were wonderful as usual.

S1 (Great; Ned/Robert & Tyrion make this the best season, no doubt)
S3 (Really really good, only weak spots are Dany stuff)
S2 (Really good... but again, only the weakest because of Dany stuff, too much time wasted in Qarth)

Not really a spoiler, but I'll tag it anyway since it's big

Overall, a stronger season than S2, imo, but the weakest season finale of the bunch. That was to be expected though, since we're still in the midst of book 3 at the end of this season rather than having the ending line up with the book ending.

A fitting finale that set things up for the next season.

I thought this was a pretty decent episode and did move the story forward and set stuff up for next season. That being said, I definitely agree it's final scene was not as great. Part of the problem is that this episode is coming right on the heels of the Red Wedding from last week which got a lot of viewers in an uproar on the same level as Ned Stark's death from season 1. So this episode needed something to give the finale an extra, surprising jolt to get viewers excited for next season, just like the final scene in the last episode of season 1 and 2 did. Oh, I'm sure the creators thought
"Well, everyone loves Dany, so let's have her go moshing with the liberated slaves while the dragons circle overhead and we have a nice chanting, celebratory song to close out with."
Yeah, sorry D&D, but you needed something a little bit more cool than that to close out on, methinks.

Yeah, I have to agree. I get that they wanted to leave us with a good taste, and not feel so...grim about the entire thing. But, I don't think it was as uplifting as they wanted it to be. I get that coming off the events of the Red Wedding, they probably wanted to leave us with a more positive and uplifting tone. But, I don't think that succeeded.

I think Dany having the Unsullied choose to fight for her was more powerful than the final scene we got here. Felt way more powerful, and I think ended up hurting this one because it didn't match the Unsullied choosing to be Dany's army.

The closest I think they got to that "feel good" moment might have been Arya final scene in the episode. The concept of a reckoning being possible came across there.

But...again, I don't expect there to be. There can't be, really. I don't expect Arya to get far, either.

I figured nothing really eventful would happen in the finale. It just seemed like a whole big set up for next season, but we did get some great scenes out of it. I was only disappointed at the ending and it's because I thought we were going to see a certain someone that people have marked in spoiler tags already.

I'm bummed that they left out [blackout]Lady Stoneheart[/blackout]. I really think it would have given many of the people who are still upset by the Red Wedding something to draw them into Season 4. One of the guys I watched it with is legitimately thinking about not watching any more. He's annoyed that they killed off characters that were a big part of why he watched (I don't know why he hasn't gotten into the other storylines). I think part of that is that he's still kind of in shock, but this episode didn't do a whole lot to draw that kind of viewer back.

Also, I hope we don't see much of Stannis next season. His stuff is getting pretty boring, and [blackout] I think it's much more bad ass if he just shows up mid wildling battle.[/blackout]

if this season ended with

[blackout] the zoom out of dany leading into the eye of Lady Stoneheart and her awakening... or if the season would have just ended with the RW... would have made it perfect. [/blackout]

What was so bad about the ending? It's cementing Dany as the new formidable threat to the Lannisters, replacing the Starks after their near obliteration last week.

Eh, not really. [blackout]She's got a lot more mouths to feed is all. [/blackout]

Did anyone else think the last scene with Stannis and Davos seemed really akward? It was like:

Stannis: Off with his head!
Davos: But Wait! You need me!
Melisandre: He is right, we need him truly! R'llor says so!
Stannis: Okay baby, we cool now.

Well, Stannis is still in the fight. And the Ironborn are now at war with the Lannisters. They could presumably attack Lannisport again.

Plus, it's not like Bolton can become the boss of the North overnight. He just killed a **** load of Northerners. Presumably quite a few people up North won't be happy about him becoming their puppet lord.

Plus there's that big zombie army.

Stannis does come off as a man with no conviction.

Oh, you sweet Summer child...

Yeah Stannis isn't as resolute in the show as he is in the books. In the books Davos points out to Stannis that as a King it's his duty to protect the people of his realm, and that if Stannis truly wants to be king he has to put his people first.
