Stannis continues to be my fav character , but I hate how they portrayed him in the series, I just hope in season 4 they go more deeper into his character.

I'm hoping that having more characters to interact with, [blackout]namely Jon[/blackout], gives them the chance to develop him better.

His arc this season seemed primed for him to side with Davos at the end there, or at least have considerable difficulty with it. And I cannot emphasize how much I hate that it's [BLACKOUT]Melisandre's urging that convinces him to both spare DAvos AND help the Night's Watch.[/BLACKOUT]

I'm really hoping that Yara and Victarion will both exist in the series. Plus we've got the Ironborn arc to see as well. Like one mentioned earlier, it's going to be impossible if they are to be combined into one. I think there will be plenty for Yara to do next Season before Victarion will probably be introduced in Season 5.

I think since they've split the book into two seasons it prevented them to have a huge thing most finale's seem to have. I don't fault the finale for that at all. I haven't read the third book but from what I gather here it seems what could have been used in this finale would have worked better in the opening. It's really just a matter of writing and where things go and where they are most effective.

I for one was pretty satisfied. We got the big event last week, and this episode was more optimistic in the sense it focused on the empathy of characters which I quite liked.

Pretty good episode, underwhelming finale. Also, I still don't give a flying **** about anything Dany is doing. All the interesting bits are going on in Westeros.

ending was more a mid season finale.

Speaking of Walder Frey, did anyone notice the irony of his dialog with Bolton?

"The Blackfish escaped."
"An old man, on the run, no allies. I've got Tywin Lannister backing me. Who does he have?"
"As you say."
"Must have been torture following that stupid boy around the whole country."
"He never took my advice. If only he'd been a trifle less arrogant."

If you don't get it:
Bolton is concerned that the Blackfish is missing. Walder Frey doesn't care because he has the Lannister's support. Bolton then tells him that Robb died because he was arrogant and never took his advice. In other words, Walder Frey should be afraid that the Blackfish isn't dead.

I also scoffed at his "I've got Tywin Lannister backing me" line. Didn't Janos Slynt say the same about Cersei, before Tyrion swiftly proved that claim to be more or less false?

Sniff, so far away!

Seriously, folks, that Small Council scene deserves it's own GIF. Get on it! :argh:

I enjoyed the finale overall, was just expecting a more epic final shot like we for in Season 1 and 2, but, overall I enjoyed the finale, very glad they didnt kill Jon Snow, as he is about the only character left I like.

Stannis just doesnt interest me at all, I am still waiting for this great character from the books to show up with Stannis, never read them but thats what a lot of book readers say.

You know, I think I kind of like Roose Bolton. I can't blame him for being fed up with Robb's leadership; there's a video on YT that shows just how many times Bolton tried to counsel Robb only to be interrupted.

Funnily enough the author doesn't really understand how Stannis became so popular. He's a stoic and rigid man that really only cares about what's right in the books, and he's meant to be pretty unlikable (hence why most people in the Stormlands and the Reach rallied behind Renly instead). I like him as a character in the story but I don't think he's a particularly pleasant person (and despite his dedication to what's right he does a few really dishonorable things).

The author is also surprised at that a good deal of people hate Catelyn and Sansa, which wasn't his intention either. Some things get a life of their own.

Just to be clear I'm only referring to the characters as they are up until the point where we are in the show.

I loved Bran's story about how killing a guest beneath your roof is something the gods can't forgive...

House Frey, prepare to reap the rewards of your own *****ery. :o:up:

Yes I loved the line and how it cut to Walder Frey immediately afterward!

Tywin just used Walder Frey to keep his own hands free.

Really? He expects people to not hate a character that wished another (who happens to be a favorite) was crippled and then becomes a horrible mother by neglecting her two youngest children and home which leads to their death (as she believes)?

Book Catelyn is a *****. They did a better job making her likable. Instead of telling Jon he should be the one that's cripple, she just gives him an icy stare. Then the scene this season where she talks about the time she watched over Jon when he was sick, telling the gods she'd be a mother to him if he recovered, then went back on her promise and feels guilty it caused their recent tragedies.

I am surprised how much they go out of their way to make us hate Stannis. Kind of the inverse of how much they go out of their way to make us love Dany.

For example, Dany's liberation of Yunkai, not nearly as important as Astapor or Meera, gets a euphoric choir send off. Meanwhile, Stannis's most redemptive moment this season--pardoning Davos--is given to Melisandre and her stupid fire, because Stannis still planned to kill the sea captain.

Oy. I understand making us root for Renly in Season 2 between the two. We had spent more time with Renly, he seemed more immediately likable and giving him a tenuous alliance with the Starks makes his death that much more painful. However, everything after has been a surprise.

The event that would have been shown on the show occurs only three days after what happened in episode 9 and this episode was far longer than that (as ravens even had time to fly from Castle Black to Dragonstone in the middle of it). The book only mentions that part in hindsight, so that's why it comes much later than what was possible here.

Again it ruins the surprise. This moment should be well after the events of RW. That way, it the game changing level of what is happening can be savored.

I was watching Greek Sundry's interview with Martin, and he seemed surprised that so many people like Jaime and Sandor. I haven't seen the Hound do anything outright evil yet.

Robb ignored Catelyn's good advice too. She didn't stab him the back. :o

Mycah?

Though, as this show goes, he's relatively cuddly...

Plus they butchered the dialog in that scene. Yes, use this screen time to ask Davos how he can read, don't use one of the best lines from the book about how it's a king's duty to protect his people :whatever:

Plus, during that scene, when Jon kisses Bran's forehead, you can see her icy stare break a little. In spite of her own issues with his presence at Winterfell, she knows that her children love him and that those feelings are returned.
