Adam Driver seems even stranger than Plemmons... how is this guy going from a show like Girls to getting rumored for blockbuster franchises?

I love it. Unconventional looking and types of actors in big movies like this. The last thing I want is an Alex Pettyfer in this thing.

You know who'd I like to see in a SW film? Paul Dano. That guy needs more love.

If Lucas actually directed Empire, it would've been a lesser film. His style suited A New Hope just fine but there's something about the direction in Empire where it was tight, great blocking and composition, and the cinematography really makes it modern looking.

I highly recommend reading The Making of ESB. There's a fantastic chapter where Kirshner is blocking the carbon freezing scene with the actors.

The Jedi have to get a ''release'' somewhere or somehow!

Obi's was booze and women.

When you look like Ewan McGregor maturing into Alec Guiness, women will come to you.

Now that I think about it, I think the best way to get the full effect of a proper send off would be to make them center characters. I mean who knows it may have worked in Arndt's draft, but Abrams seems to have a very strong idea of what to do if he fought for it. If there's something that they really want to tell about them that's important yet fresh then go for it.

I don't think this movie is interesting whatever people visit the forums. Not like codename BvsS. I'm not extrapolating that out to the general audience, just what I routinely see on the forums.

Well, keep in mind: We're kind of at zero hour in terms of anything important coming to light right now. We have next to nothing. A director, a screenwriter and a few rumored actors being considered. That's all. When we have confirmed castmembers, a title, photos, teasers/trailers, etc... **** will hit the fan here. Know this. **** will hit the fan.

Can anyone remember when the title of the prequels was revealed? We are two years from the release so my guess is it will be the fourth quarter of this year before we get a title with the first teaser coming this Christmas. I figure the first teaser won't have any actual footage. Polly be something similar to the first TDK teaser.

The title of Episode I was revealed via the Star Wars website on September 25, 1998. The film was released on May 19, 1999.

The title of Episode II was revealed on August 7, 2001, again using the Star Wars website. The film was released on May 16, 2002.

Finally, the title of Episode III was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con on July 24, 2004 via this video. The film was released on May 19, 2005.

Screenrant said this about Obi Wan's alleged Grand-daughter:

[Update: the 20-something actress Abrams is looking is said to be "mixed race or black" and as some of our readers pointed out, it could be for the daughter of Lando Calrissian - something he said he wanted in the film back in September 2013, a Jedi daughter. At this point, these are rumors piled on top of hearsay so wait for more info.]

http://screenrant.com/star-wars-7-story-details-rumors-changes/

This was one of my first thoughts after reading the report from THR, that they are looking for someone to play Lando's daughter/granddaughter...not Obi-Wan's. We'll just have to wait and see how much of that report is true.

So are there many critically acclaimed 20 something old mixed/black actress out there?

Every talented black actress I looked are over 30, but I could just be ignorant, on this.

There are a number of talented Black actresses out there, but few are known to the general public because there aren't a ton of roles out there for young Black women...for Black women in general, for that matter. And we always hear the same names suggested for the few roles that there are: Kerry Washington, Zoe Saldana, Rosario Dawson, Taraji P. Henson, Halle Berry, Paula Patton, Sanaa Lathan, etc. Nothing against any of these women...I'm just saying that it must be challenging for Black actresses to make a living in Hollywood when opportunities are few and far between.

It's my hope that they choose a relative unknown not only for this role, but for a lot of the others as well. Episode VII will certainly have star power with the Big 3 returning, possibly Billy Dee...and of course there will be established stars signed for certain roles (I would think it's likely that the main antagonist, for instance, would be a big name). But, I think back to how the original Star Wars didn't really use established major stars, outside of Alec Guinness. It made stars! Mark, Carrie and, to a lesser extent, Harrison were turned into stars because of A New Hope. Star Wars doesn't need big names as a draw...the Star Wars brand itself is the draw. I want to see JJ use said brand to take young, talented, overlooked actors and then launch their careers...just like George did with Episode IV almost 40 years ago.

So providing JJ and Disney do something similar we might get a title at this year's san diego comic-con.

Agreed. With Man Of Steel II, at least we have confirmed (if controversial) casting to discuss. With Avengers: Age Of Ultron, we know who's returning and some of those who will be joining the cast. With Episode VII, all we know for sure is that JJ is directing, JJ and Kasdan are rewriting Arndt's script, John Williams is scoring and R2-D2 will be in it. We don't have much beyond that. But, if shooting really is going to begin in the spring, then we will be finding out much more sooner than later, and once the info starts coming in, so will board members looking to discuss the news in this forum.

Sawyer's right: once we get official casting information, a title, photos, trailers, etc., this place will be insane. I started frequenting these boards when The Dark Knight Rises began filming. Things were crazy around here at that time, I'm sure it will be just as bad (if not worse) for Episode VII.

If they stick to Lucasfilm's history with the prequels, they would announce the title 8 to 10 months before the film's release, which would be anywhere from late February through April of 2015.

I don't think we'll have to wait that long. But, seeing as how they have the next Star Wars Celebration in April 2015, I suppose anything is possible. (Although I'd certainly hope that those attending would get much more than a title...a teaser trailer at the least!)

Just wanted to say something about those mentioning why unconventional looking actors are being mentioned. Talent is one reason, and the other is this is Star Wars who's to say they won't be covered in alien make up/prosthetics?

It will be ten times more insane that TDKR because we'll have Age of Ultron, Batman vs. Superman and Episode 7 stuff. The Hype will devour itself in the midst all of the chaos. :wow:

I really don't think all the new leads should just be descendants of the OT cast. One of the reasons the Prequels sucked was because literally every character was a Jedi or related to the OT in some way. There was no variety. A New Hope had a farm boy with a destiny, a princess leading a rebellion, a smuggler and his sidekick, two droids and later on the mayor of a city in the clouds.

We should have more of the same for Episode VII. Make Plemons Ben Skywalker, and then Han/Leia can have a daughter, and leave it at that. Then any other new characters can be brought in from across the galaxy; smugglers, assassins, bounty hunters, ex-Imperials etc etc. One of my original ideas was that two main characters would be an ex-Stormtrooper clone and his apprentice, both smugglers/bounty hunters. Because he's a clone he doesn't age and later teams up with the new leads/OT cast, but something like that probably won't happen.

Just cast The Wolf Of Wall Street chick as Luke's daughter & be done with it

Doesn't look like a good match to me even if you factor in the mommy. It's not like a DiCaprio which would be a match for a relative. Even Taissa Farmiga made more sense in terms of looks as a spawn of Han and Leia. I hope the role Plemons is going for (codenamed Thomas or other) is a new character, unrelated character.

I'm really hoping that JJ Abrams does a better job in presenting a great ensemble of characters that are ALL developed well on screen so that we can actually care about most of them throughout the course of the franchise, something that was kind of hard to do with the Prequels.

And hell, if JJ Abrams can create a villain that is as badass as his version of "Khan" for this franchise, then that'll be great as well.

So Disney's very own Marvel had news on Monday for Ant-Man..then Tuesday there was news on Doctor Strange…I wonder if Weds will be Lucasfilm's day to shine (for news)…hmmmm.

I seriously doubt it lol. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

Remember when we all thought there was going to be an Episode VII teaser back in November?

:csad:

Doctor Strange news was false and they just announce the actor plain Baron Von Strucker in Avengers 2.
