Green Arrow series in the works at The CW - Part 1

Justin Hartley comments that he and Stephen Amell are buddies and that he's going to be great as Oliver Queen.

Also, Amell says that his version of Green Arrow would be in the same vein as Chris Nolan's Batman movies so I think we should take it with a viewpoint that if there was another hero in the Nolan Batman universe, it's Stephen Amell's Green Arrow.

I'm sure I'll enjoy the show but I'm honestly a little worried that they might take the Batman clone thing a little far. I mean that has always been the running gag in the comics so it's kind of fitting that a Green Arrow show mimicks the Nolan movies. It's just that Oliver has evolved as a character quite a lot since those days and I'm worried about not seeing that version on this show. The strong and silent type isn't exactly Ollie from what I've read.

I agree. He needs to be more than just another BB. Hopefully they give him more of an different personality than Bruces.

Makes sense.

It's a tall order though, especially for a CW series... but it sounds like they have the right intentions.

This series does not seem to be as grounded as Batman. I could see a few things more out there happening in this than that series.

I don't like that they keep saying "like Batman". Green Arrow is not Batman, DC spent decades differentiating him so he's not just a second-rate knockoff. However, we've seen nothing of his personality, so hopefully that can differentiate him.

I hope we get to see him create his billionaire playboy alter ego like in the Nolan movies.

I was hoping for anything but Green Arrow. Starling City??? Seriously?? Is that another Warner Bros legal thing again??

Sigh........

Hopefully this will be a vehicle to bring in other characters.....

Good luck....

Starling City sounds less silly than Star City. Also, who gives a ****?

I was wondering about that... BUT the initial information leaked said everyone would realize Oliver would be drastically different when he returned from the island.

He was a playboy before.

I think he would be less convincing to the public as one now after 5 years of such a traumatic experience.

The only thing that concerns me about this series is how they'll handle the interactions between Dinah Laurel Lance and Oliver.

The promo seems to imply that they've had a past romantic relationship. It's obvious they want to make her the 'Rachel Dawes' of this, even though BB didn't really ever give them a romantic past, they were just childhood friends.

I'm concerned it could be as weak as how they wrote Hal and Carol in Green Lantern, with regards to their past history. It was uber cheesy there.

I don't think they would take all batmqn thing/be a clone of nolan batman. As much as it was a good batman series. Nolan did alter things a lot and cut out things like batgirl/robin and the more comicbooky/fantasy stuff.

I rather find a balance of realism with comicbooky stuff like how the marvel studios marvel films have handled things. Have real world thigs and people living/acting like real beings and just the crazy fantsical things happening to them.

As for the show like I said I do hope they will leave the door open for metas to appear. There is many easy ways like I said they can bring in suitable villains/heroes in time and not destroy realism tone/feel they have from pilot. And like I pointed out last page majority of ga main villains are not metas just skilled fighters and a few like vertigo with some sort of tech. So maybe they can just go for the more human/skilled general dc villains and heroes down the road. But again we will have to see what they decide on when show goes into series production and if any tone/theme changes from start/down the line.

If I recall correctly, Oliver and Laurel were together, but he cheated on her with her sister, Sarah, who was with him and his father at the yatch and died in the accident. When he returns, Laurel is with Merlyn.

For the show he was talking. In comics dinah and ollie are married/together. I don't know new 52 standing for them.

not sure if I like her being involved with merlyn. the whole "bad guy seducing the love interest" is beyond cliche at this point.

Merlyn is Harvey Dent. Interesting.

I still think there's an intentional reason why they went with the "Laurel" name to brand Dinah Lance in this version.

I think they're going to take some big liberties with her character. Though, it will probably be improvements from the source material.

I gotta say this looks pretty good. I'm a big fan of Smallville though I know how awful it could get. This already has better action than Smallville ever had. I can't wait

I am too a very big Smallville fan, still I hope they do something really different with this show.

That makes sense for storylines outside of the Queen Inc hit list stuff.

-Dinah's lawyer career will provide people that need help.
-The playboy past will bring in characters he was a jerk to and now needs to help.
-A few general cliche bad guy episodes.

I hope they flashback to the island every once and a while. That stuff looks intense.

Although I can't remember the last time a tv show had vehicle chase scenes I do hope they give him a custom motorcycle and not a dirt bike like they did with GA on smallville.

I'm fine with them taking liberties with black canary, making her a lawyer is a step in the right direction.

I'm sure for the first season they'll have plenty of material to work with. Frankly I'd rather they put out one great season than try to have a bunch of filler episodes.

I think maybe the whole lural thing could be is sure goes by it for work/to be more professional but with friends/family go by dinah.

I too hope ollie will have a bike for transportation. Really I think they could easily take some bike modify it and use it here and there for some sort of transportation for ollie. As for mask I was thinking what if they went something akin to swimmers small goggle like deal?
