On my comment abbove for mask ideas what you guys think of these as options. And could go with amell comments that the costume was made for pratical reasons and to see like a real person could come up with.

First a few safety goggle choices:

Merlyn is Harvey Dent. Interesting.

I still think there's an intentional reason why they went with the "Laurel" name to brand Dinah Lance in this version.

I think they're going to take some big liberties with her character. Though, it will probably be improvements from the source material.

Her full name in the comics Dinah laurel lance they didn't change anything with her name but call her by her middle name. Black canary comic book origins wouldn't work in this world because she is a second generation hero. Her mother was the original black canary of jsa

I'm sure for the first season they'll have plenty of material to work with. Frankly I'd rather they put out one great season than try to have a bunch of filler episodes.

The hit list is actually a pretty genius idea for a superhero show. If they play it like MY NAME IS EARL where he starts off just attacking people on the list then realizing these people have hurt more than just him and starts getting involved in the bigger picture Hard Traveling style.

So some kind of MY NAME/PERSONS OF INTEREST could sustain a series longer than the natural shelf life of Smallville.

I'm aware of all of that.

They've given her a new father though, Detective Quetin Lance, for this series. I'm curious how they'll handle her mother.

I'm still hopeful they may go with the lower face mask for Green Arrow with the voice changer, as Craig originally revealed.

They may have intentionally not shown it yet in the footage.

No one's asking me, but if it were me, I'd have her mother be in prison (wrongly convicted) for something/someone connected to Ollie's list.

I think she's going to be dead.

Dinah Drake is usually dead.

The prison thing would be awkward since Laurel's father being a detective.

I don't see point of a lower mask a eye mask would be better to hide identity.

If he gets a lower face mask it should be like the kind you see on ninjas. :woot:

I've been thinking about what character cameo's would be cool for this show... I think The Question would be awesome.

Then maybe he will get his own show. :awesome:

Well if we where to see guest heroes down the road street level guys probabl would be best to bring in like the question, wildcat, etc... like guys I blanking on.

Also I was thinking if they where to have dinah down the road become black canary what if they mixed a bit of comics dinah laurul lance, and jsa/golden age black canary and she just a killed fighter, uses blades but doesn't have canary cry?

Obviously you'd think that.

But in reality, the domino mask is pretty fail when it comes to realistically hiding someone's identity. The GL movie even poked fun at this.

The lower face mask:

- covers his recognizable facial hair

- alters his voice

- can function as a gas mask

- keeps his eyes still visible for dramatic purposes

It's very practical.

Example: Bane's mask effectively hides Tom Hardy's facial features.

Not like it can't be faked.

You say awkward. I said dramatic!!!:woot:

The father lacking the evidence to free her all these years. Dinah became a lawyer because of it. Ollie's list has a key to freeing her, but at a cost.

To quote Derek on Happy Endings.DRAAAAAMAAAA!!!

Haha. Sounds like a Smallville or One Tree Hill plot. Not a fan.

That's my other worry about this show. There's a truckload of secondary characters. I hope they aren't given generic CW soap plots.

Exactly! Some fans have to admit the domino mask alone is not the best way to hide the hero's identity, the lower mask solves this. Some things from the comics don't make any sense and need to be changed for the better.

If it were up to me I'd keep Dinah mother as the original black canary but Dinah knowing nothing of her dead mother's viganlte days. Then in a couple seasons after becoming a meta by some experiment she becomes a superhero by letting Arrow become her Yoda.

Comics are soaps. This set-up is just like ABC's Revenge.

Hopefully Original Canary is alive, and will in some way inspire Dinah to fight.

I didn't even think of that list, but thats a great idea now that you bring it up. Hopefully they don't have him wipe it out in the pilot, which is what I was thinking they would do.

You're also right with it having a longer shelf life if they approach it that way. With smallville, the journey was getting to that point where he became superman, which we all knew would mark the end of the series. Here, he is just beginning so they need some sort of story to pull people in every week.

I agree with you there, you can't even tell that its tom hardy playing bane. I wouldn't care if they did a lower face covering, but then you would have everyone complaining to no ends saying how they ruined GA.

You would think the show is ruined already when you read the comments about starling city and dropping the green from the name.

Idea for Merlyn - because its ridiculous to have his childhood friend who hasn't been honing archery skills (even if they did learn a bit together as kids) suddenly become a skill threat to Ollie when he takes up some kind of villainous career (for which we currently have no idea of the motivation but surely can;t be "was always on a dark path" like Lex in Smallville).

His father is the assassin archer belonging to the league of assassins. He doesn't know this, nor does he know his father. Merlyn's always been older looking than Ollie, so make him middle aged is fine and Merlyn (before he became an assassin) was an inspirational figure of archery to a young Ollie. Ollie's mum knows more about the wreck than she's letting on - how about she hired Merlyn for the hit (knowing him from back when the kids were toddlers, before Merlyn took off and abandoned his family). He appears as a bit of a figure in the shadows in conversation with her for a while, then a big reveal (though DO NOT have him know or uncover GA's identity - I bloody hate that in live action adaptations).

Maybe his son takes off at the end of the first season for some extensive training with the league

Not sure what people's general opinion on this is, but so far, I think it looks great. Much better than Smallville. The cinematography looks pretty damn good for the CW, the costumes are awesome, the action is cool and the main actor isn't half bad.

Yeah, the new president at CW is doing good things. Smallville was ruined because Dawn Ostroff wanted everything to be a derivative of 90210 and Gossip Girl. From what we've seen so far, the only thing I'm not liking is they're trying to hard to make him Batman, instead of their own thing.

Yeah I hope they don't think they need to copy Nolan in order to have a successful show.
By the way, the clip in the trailer when the two cops watch as Ollie gets away on a wire and one says "Tell me you saw that" is very similar to the scene in BB when Batman had his first encounter with Gordon and escapes on the roof.
