The potential for sidekicks and Dinah in fishnets?

Why else have Dinah in the show? Why not just a new character?

OT: Wouldn't be surprised if Walter Steele (Oliver's mother's new husband) is one of the men on Robert Queen's hitlist that the Arrow must kill.

If he is, I hope he's not the traditional evil guy gets with the mom schtick. It'd be good if he genuinely changed and how that factors into the hit list.

If not Roy then who will do heroin!? :o

Exactly! Just keep him away from teh kittehs!

Thea Queen (Willa Holland) has already taken 'Speedy' as her nickname.

Maybe the drug habit will follow

She's supposed to be "testing the boundaries of acceptable behavior" as a "celebutante" anyway.

At the very least she'll be snorting lines of coke in no time. :p

I think her inclusion has more to do with her place as Oliver's love interest in the DC mythology than her role as Black Canary.

Right now, she'll seems to be the 'Rachel Dawes' in this Batman Begins formula they are using.

I don't mind her becoming Black Canary eventually though. I think they'll take a lot of inspiration from the Batman/Catwoman dynamic in "The Dark Knight Rises" for how they'll present Arrow and Canary when that day comes.

Since they are going the Chris Nolan Batman route I'm guessing the league of assassins will be like the league of shadows and the leader will be like Ras Al Ghoul. Who will be the villian to try and cause chaos like the Joker? And who will be the villian to try a revolution in Starling City like Bane?

I'm crossing my fingers for Deathstroke as the main villain in Arrow.

They can build towards him in S1. He would just be the perfectly matched anti-thesis for The Arrow.

It would be incredible to see him in live action.

And they could reinterpret him to work in a realistic world, as they did for Bane.

If Season 2 is all-out Arrow VS Deathstroke, it could have incredible potential.

I think this series has great potential, I can't wait to see it. During later seasons if it lasts that long I'd like them to incorperate David Goyer's Supermax script if possible for a few episodes or something....

I think if he proves popular a movie about him on the island and an updated version of Supermax would be a great little duology to accompany the TV series.

Supermax would be hard to do with this series and no superpowered villains existing.

Plus, with The Arrow/Oliver jailed, his identity would be revealed to the public. That's kinda the nail in the coffin for Arrow.

But I agree with the above poster that hopefully this series may generate some interest for a Green Arrow movie that will be completely disconnected from the series of course.

Though, even for a movie, it may probably be best to do a Year One Origins film than Goyer's Supermax concept.

Holy crap... Deathstroke in this show... Would be so.... :awesome: !

Maybe they should incorporate the SuperMax idea into the series.

I hope David Goyer is watching the series and perhaps write an episode for Arrow.

What would be the problem if Ollie secret as the Green Arrow came out? It be like when Tony Stark revealed himself to be Ironman. The public would embrace Queen since it has been revealed he was the hero saving people.

The public embracing an outlaw vigilante?

Yeah...that went over so well in The Dark Knight.

Revealing his identity would be another 'jump the shark moment.' It would be a huge mistake, especially in a show grounded in realism and logic.

No way the Feds, FBI, and Govt in general would allow him to operate outside their authority if they knew who he was.

Queen Industries would be shut down. Oliver would probably be jailed.... the same way Bruce almost was in TDK when he considered turning himself in.

I figured the show was just called "Arrow" to avoid using "Green" in the title, after the not so good performances of Green Lantern/Green Hornet, but he'd be called Green Arrow in the show...

I don't know for sure. I hope they call him Green Arrow in it.

Also on the show will he be called Green Arrow or just The Arrow?

The Arrow is his title.

It actually sounds better.

From the CW:

"Oliver Queen creates the persona of Arrow -- a vigilante -- to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. Arrow premieres Wednesdays this fall on The CW."

I can live with it. I would prefer "Green Arrow" but I guess their's enough people that have "Green" in their name.

It helps separate it from the Smallville version for causal CW audiences who might initially think they are connected.

It helps set this apart as a new take and fresh reinvention of the character.

I think they should introduce Roy in the 2nd or 3rd season if it goes that far. And he can be more the little brother type to Ollie which still works.

As far as the whole name thing, I am fine with them starting out calling him Arrow and then maybe a reporter or something gets his name confused and calls him Green Arrow and the public just take on that name for him.

I had a feeling they were just gonna call him the Arrow on the show. I hope this Ollie is a left wing, bleeding heat, social crusader. Like Ollie is in the comics.

This version of Oliver already has a younger sibling to worry about.

Doesnt mean he cant take on more. I dont think or want his sister to take up the hero buisness.

Not sure how I feel about him just being called Arrow. I guess I can live with it as much as I can live with Starling City. It all just feels more and more like an elseworlds story and like I'll still be waiting for the real Green Arrow to get a movie or tv series. Right now I'm excited as a tv fan but finding it really hard to be excited as a fan of the character. I guess this is how all of those La Femme Nikita fans felt.

I don't think or want anyone to take up the "hero business" besides Oliver.

It makes his amazing skills and precision more unique in this realistic world.

But yeah, for the same reasons that Nolan excluded Robin... I can't really see "Speedy" working in such a grounded, realistic take.

The fact that they gave Thea Queen the 'Speedy' nickname makes me think the writers intend to avoid the actual Speedy as well.

The character wouldn't make much sense at this point in the Arrow's career anyway. He's going to need some years to establish himself as a hero in his own right before mentoring others.
