Green Arrow series in the works at The CW - Part 1

Bendis should actually get a pilot to air before critiquing other shows.

it could be seen as a compliment/insult. But agree with you on that. On top of that Id say he should work on his ****** writing before commenting on anyone else's work.

I was thinking, should deathstroke appear, I certainly hope he doesn't look like a 70 year old man. I'm thinking an incredibly young looking 45 year old, with natural platinum blonde hair and no underwear on the outside.

He can still be an older guy, like Ser Barristan on "Game of Thrones".
"Even now I could cut thru the five of you like carving a cake!"

Hebprobably be mid 30s or early 40s. And deathstroke doesn't need to be to crazy some military get up, bullet proof armor, and his mask to cover his identity. Not that difficult.

Wow, you know what, I had started hating smallville with a passion around season 4/5 so I figured it wouldn't be for me.

Well, just saw the trailer, and it looks pretty freakin great.

Maybe superheroes on the small screen could work after all.

This is not a spinoff of the Green Arrow from Smallville these are two different people living in different worlds.

I'm not talking about it being a spinoff, I'm talking about my experience with the CW

I dunno.... I was thinking they shouldn't do what Smallville did. I would prefer a guy that looks like Anderson Cooper. Middle age man with platinum blonde hair. That would be pretty awesome.

Well you do have to remember cw before when dawn o was running it she wanted the network to be female demo only and be like life time jr. Ie having all the silly soap girl shows like 90210, gossip girl, and vampire dairies. Then forcing things into other shows like spn and sv and slashing there budgets so much.

Where as now that mark the new cw president has full reign now. He didn't have it last tv season due to coming in things where already set for fall season. He is braching the network out with hulu/netflix deals, and trying to equal demo between men and woman. And wanting more dc stuff, and genre shows.

It's still the CW reputation and that's the major uphill battle.

Wait, Deathstroke was on Smallville? :wow: Why didn't anyone tell me?! And he was played by Col. Tigh??! :shock

I was just suggesting that it would be perfectly fine for them to follow the comics on this one; I figure a juiced-up grandpa is only slightly less silly than a crimefighter with a bow-and-arrow.

Ollie could even borrow Stark's like about Cap when he fights Slade ("You quite spry, for an older fellow"), since Slade is supposed to be like an evil Cap.

Oh ya they will have to fight the old cw rep but if they can put out good shows and have positive buzz on them. They could win new viewers and change people minds on what the cw is.

The network is doing a major overhaul so I think its about time for DC comicbook heroes. Plus there is Deadman to look forward to.

Stephen Amell Teases The Appearance Of Black Canary And More In ARROW

Check out what the actor who will bring Oliver Queen/Green Arrow to the small screen in this Fall's Arrow had to say when asked about the possible appearance of other DC characters (including the chances of Katie Cassidy taking on the Black Canary persona). Josh Wilding - 5/31/2012

"Stay tuned," Stephen Amell told IGN TV when asked whether or not fans should expect to see any other DC Comics characters popping up in Arrow when it debuts on the CW later this year. "I know that the people that are working on the show, they love comics. I know that Geoff Johns from DC Comics -- he’s a great guy -- he was up there [on set]. I think that he’s going to write an episode eventually. It would be unfortunate if, being a comic book show, we didn’t draw from all the characters in the DC Universe. I hope we do."

Of course, Katie Cassidy's Dinah Lance is best known to comic book readers as the heroic Black Canary, so what are the chances we'll be seeing the former Supernatural star suiting up as the Birds of Prey leader in Arrow? "I don’t know," the actor disappointingly admitted when pressed on whether or not she'll don the fishnets at some point. "I hope that Katie eventually -- fishnets or otherwise -- she deserves to be a superhero at some point." Who would you like to see make an appearance in the show? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!
I do hope in time we see other heroes. Personally still think black canary would be logical choice since dinah will be on the show already. And if they stick with no powers stick. I guess they can go with golden age verison for her. As for heroes I wouldn't mind if they do some street level guys like wildcat, the question. And maybe some low powered heroes/tech based ones.

They have to bring in Katana and Starling and Poison Ivy.
Poison Ivy could be written in a way like she was in btas. No powers. Just manipulating plants and intoxicating her preys.

I doubt we would see ivy since she is under bat family of characters. So I doubt she be used. Most likely as we already seen for pilot we will likely stick to green arrow foes and some generalize dc villains like deathstroke, maybe roulette and folks like them.

Also I was thinking again like I mentioned before if we really do see the character brick. I still think if they go the non powered route they can explain him off with having an advance or rare form of Scleroderma and maybe have him jucing up on some sort of pcp drug or pain relaxer to explain his look.

For this show, I think is better to use realistic non-superpowered characters to keep it grounded. I'd rather have good, realistic action scenes than crappy CGI because of a limited budget.

Well I would still like to see powers down the road. Even in a realistic setting if they can explain them in some fashion it could work. We don't need to have shape shifting aliens, and people who can fly. But other powers like strength, invul, telekentist, and things like that could work in that work. Or at least tech based heroes to a degree.

If they don't go at least tech based heroes. Then it would probably be suited to stay with street level guys. Like question, wildcat, etc.... who are others that are low powered/tech based/no powered guys that would work in a more realistic world.

I would assume birds of prey would make a reappearance in here. Maybe in the later seasons.

I wouldn't mind some bop characters/villains to show up. If they do have dinah become canary later on.

black canary is about the only hero I would want to see on the show. I think if they use that list like some have been suggesting they they have a great overall plot for the first season.

How would everyone like to see the episodes, in arcs or one and done episodes?

It might be interesting to see BC get a new modern origin, since her comics origin is pretty convoluted and could definitely use some Nolan-esque simplifying.

Her new origin is pretty darn simple. Her mother was part of the JS, had Dinah who happened to be a meta and grew up to also be a hero like her moms.

Would anyone be particularly against using other heroes rogues in the series? Because I think Black Mask could work in the context of this series.

But how did her Mom get her powers? Not so easy, is it. :oldrazz:

Ollie doesn't have the most eclectic rogues gallery, so unless they're gonna make up their own supervillains (*shudder*), I expect they'll borrow plenty of other non-GA bad guys
