Would anyone be particularly against using other heroes rogues in the series? Because I think Black Mask could work in the context of this series.

This show could use the Joker for all I care. It's its own universe. I just want the show itself to be good.

They won't be able to use any rogues that belong to a particular hero that has a film "in development", because of the embargoes placed on characters. So there won't be any Bat, Super, Flash, Wonder, or Lantern villains.

Couldn't they wave the embargo though if they so choose?

I wouldn't mind seeing single heroes villains used. But with all the red tape legal stuff. Using say a superman/batman villain/ww/etc.... main baddie I can't see. If we see other non ga villains its more likely going to be generalize ones like roulette, deathstroke, and others I don't know off hand.

As for black canary if they will do no meta powers. The easiest thing to do is just have dinah take the traits from golden age black canary who was just a skilled fighter with no powers. Simple and easy route to go.

Then like I mentioned if they stick to no meta heroes we can do characters like question, wildcat, maybe some jsa guys, and some tech based heroes like ted kord blue beetle.

Ya look at all the hassale sv did over the yrs with villains and heroes on the show, and stuff they wanted to use but couldn't geet rights too.

We now have word on a director for an early episode:

Guy Norman Bee To Direct For Arrow

CRAIG BYRNE

Fan favorite director Guy Norman Bee, whose credits include Supernatural, Kyle XY, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Secret Circle, and more, will be directing an early episode of Arrow.

On Twitter today, he told us that he starts prep in mid-July. Considering his wealth of experience in the genre field, in addition to directing gritty realism and drama on shows like SouthLAnd and Criminal Minds, he should be a great choice for the world of Arrow.

I just want to know who else is gonna be writing for the show.

If they are to have a Black Canary, I'd prefer the original Golden-Age one without the sonic scream. That would be in line with the show's realism.

Ya but a lot of stuff sv was using wasn't stuck under film rights. That is why we got martian manhunter, cyborg, green arrow, impluse and so forth. As for writers we are bound to hear of things in coming weeks since prep work has to be starting soon. With production in july.

Also I agree if we won't see metas on show. Taking the traits of golden age canary would be easiest thing to do. All they have to do is say dinah grows an infinity to green arrow and what he is doing for city. Maybe do an episode where she is kidnapped/mugged and she sees she needs to learn to fight. And then we see her learning to fight. Maybe throw a nod to ted grant/wildcat and we see her training at grant gym and maybe do wildcat down the road. And then like I mentioned before since they are doing lawyer thing with her. Maybe have her lose a bunch of cases, and with that the cons getting away free it shows she needs to take justice on her own hands.

The only characters I could see them not allowing is batman rogues, and luthor. Which is too bad because penguin, riddler and black mask would be interesting to see.

Everyone else I'm sure they will allow. With DC entertainement I'm sure there is a lot less legal troubles to go through.

I don't get why they're so uptight about that ****. The characters get used in animation. Why not use them in live action?

Black Mask and the Riddler would be so perfect... :csad:

I see why they were so up tight when it came to smallville considering the quality of the show...lol.

I think it will really depend what happens, but if they did put a batman villain like riddler or the penguin that would bring in huge ratings due to the popularity of those characters.

At the end of the day we'll have to see when it airs and how the ratings do. But if DC was smart and the show is well received it could be there opportunity to utilize there characters and build up some much needed buzz.

You people are too harsh on Smallville.... I mean, I get it. But still. :o

The last time Young Justice wasnt able to use certain characters as well. Which was why young justice didnt have wondergirl.
But after the establishment of dce, Geoff Johns told the producers they could use any character they want.
I believe they would be able to use some general villains and lesser foes of the batman and superman.

Her new origin is pretty darn simple. Her mother was part of the JS, had Dinah who happened to be a meta and grew up to also be a hero like her moms.

That might not be true anymore. Canary might not have a mother that joined the jsa. Since JSA doesnt exist any longer in the main earth.

I'd concentrate on having villains who are not either Superman or Batman's. They should bring in realistic villains like Slade, Amanda Waller, Merlyn, Cheshire, etc.

The embargo of certain characters has to do with how WB wants them to be presented to the public.

They rather have these characters be known to the public through their high budget movies and not in the low budget tv series.

the whole film side and tv side are two different entities and for some doofus reasons film side thinks of folks probably cant see that oh this take on this character is different then this take on tv.

I think it will depend on what route they go. If they aren't even going to consider tech based villains, such as vertigo having a piece of technology to make people lose balance, then they need some recognizable human villains. Especially if they wont even be using the few that green arrow does have.

i see no reason why a tech guy even vertigo wouldnt would in the realistic world they set. With that it would make it oh tech arrows as basic as gas/net arrows wouldnt work in the show. When tech for arrows can be a real thing and could be based on miltary/police tech and all that. I see no reason why vertigo wouldnt work you can easily just say his powers release a high pitch sound that screws with a person's mind. Which they can say makes them loose balance/focus. That can then also work for if they did ted kord bb/wesley sandman with his gas gun and other limited tech heroes i dont know off hand, or other tech villains.

Its great that the lead actor is really excited about the series. It seems like everyone has watched the pilot except us already.
