I just finished watching Cold Light of Day.

Yikes. That movie does not inspire confidence. His American accent is atrocious and inconsistent. Hopefully they worked a great deal with him on that aspect.

What are you not convinced of?

Yes, his physique looks great. Cavill may be the most massive superman... regardless the muscle suit.
however all the release images just don’t strike me in the same way of looking at Reeve superman images. Maybe slightly better than Routh, but Routh images are mostly poor. And, everybody knows that I dislike the suit… I dislike the hairstyle too.

I don't see it either, but it might be because one of my friends has exactly Anne's mannerisms when she converses. It's not purposely idolizing Anne or anything - I've known her a long time and she's always been enthusiastic and sweet and self-deprecating, and just so happens to channel that into similar facial expressions and hand gestures. She's sometimes overly enthusiastic and into telling stories, and you sometimes wonder if there's even a single bitter bone in her body, but she just really is that nice and enthusiastic.

I obviously don't dislike her, which is probably why I also don't dislike Anne despite her overenthusiasm.

Considering the high profile of this movie, I have no doubt that Snyder filmed every scene over and over until Cavill got his accent right.

No guarantee there. Look at the shouting match between Gordon and Dent in The Dark Knight where Oldman's English accent is blatantly showing through the entire scene.

It happens a lot with British actors, look at Michael Fassbender in First Class his Irish accent comes out really badly at the end but he's so good you forgive it. The funny thing about Cavill's accent in Cold Light if Day is it sounds different to the one he did in Hellraiser which was actually closer to his MOS Superman voice.

That's on Nolan though. Snyder may or may not be more attentive when it comes to accent slips. Either way, Cavil's natural accent will most likely show itself if he has to shout his lines, because apparently it's incredibly hard to maintain a forged accent in a high voice.
