Henry Cavill IS Superman: - - - - - - Part 15

Saw an interview with Henry the other day and he's leaned down a lot saying that he has to in order to get other roles. After that I saw MOS again, goddam he got so huge for that compared to what you see him as now (I think he said about 30 pounds different).
damn they'll have to put him on the gear next time almost, don't want to see a smaller version like Helmsworth in the Avengers

that forward young man interview always puts a smile on my face :D

back to Cavill as Superman, i really liked his performance as superman in the movie, i loved that scene when he appears before the general/military and just hovers in the air like a god

They kind of look alike? lol.:woot:

probably in the minority but i wouldn't mind amell's arrow in justice league alongside cavill's superman

I mentioned this before, but it's kind of interesting how much Hayley Atwell has in common with The Cavill.

1) Both are Brits
2) Both are in the acting field
3) They have similar sounding names: Hen-ry Hay-ley Cav-ill At-well
4) Both are in superhero films featuring a protagonist clad in primary colors
5) Both are considered sex symbols
6) Both have similar childhood nicknames based on their former weight: "Fat Cavill" "Hayley Fatwell"

Honestly, the person Cavill has a lot in common with is, ironically, Adams.

1.) Both come from huge families with more children than the average family. Amy is one of 7. Henry is one of 5. Both are middle children in those huge families.

2.) Both come from families with strong ties to the military.

3.) Both got their huge breaks with iconic roles at age 30 after working for years and years as actors without that huge break.

4.) Both auditioned for their respective roles 3 times until finally getting the part with Man of Steel.

5.) Both are, quite genuinely, "geeks." And I mean that as a compliment.

Trying to discuss beauty with any degree of objectivity is a pointless exercise. I've been cringing at the commentary out there that Kaley is somehow "not on Henry's level." Oddly enough, it reminds me a ton of the superficial nature involved when people say that Lois Lane "isn't on Superman's level" and he should be with Wonder Woman because Wonder Woman is "hotter" or "more physically powerful." It's just a very, very shallow way to look at attraction, chemistry and love. It's also sad. Attraction and love just don't work like that.

For what it's worth, I think Kaley is adorable. But beyond the physical, it's clear as day to me why any person would be attracted to her. Kaley has a dynamite personality. If you have ever watched her on talk shows you know that she's naturally hilarious and down to earth. She's a really funny woman with great comedic timing in an industry that doesn't always let women be funny. I love Kaley.

The PR surrounding Henry and Kaley is a little unsufferable. I admit that totally. I wish he'd get less obvious PR. But I thought the PR was insufferable with Gina too so that's not new. But either way, it's clear as day to ME why he might be interested in Kaley. Her personality is a 10. The fact that she's super cute on top of it is just a bonus.

Amy Adams is a total natural beauty. There is nothing overdone or fake about her appearance which is jarring in an industry where plastic surgery and excess make-up and excess everything has become the standard. She never seems like she's trying too hard. She is who she is. But again, like Kaley, Adams also has a beautiful personality.
She also comes off incredibly kind, humble and funny and she is ragingly talented. Again, it's more than clear why men would be in love with her.

Gina Carano is also a very attractive woman. Now, for me personally, she doesn't have much acting talent and I was never really drawn to her personality so that often colors my perception of her. But there was never anything wrong with her appearance.

It's just a pointless exercise to compare these women. There is no such thing as one of them being "way ahead" of the others in terms of beauty because attraction is such a damn subjective thing. What is a 10 to you might be a 5 to someone else.

No one happily marries another person based solely on their looks and stays married. Life is just about so much more. Love is about so much more. It's why I just want to laugh when I see the internet exploding with "is she good enough for him" arguments. Who are any one of us to ask that? And focusing on her looks like some people do? Missing the mark. Just missing the mark. It's not what love is based on. I'm glad that Henry seems to be aware of that. Clark is clearly aware of that so it's nice that that might be something they share.

Johns has New 52 Superman and Wonder Woman together before he and Lois.

Geoff Johns is a huge Lois/Superman fan. Do not assume that the current choices in the new 52 came from him. He's a company man first and foremost.

This was the brainchild of Dan Didio bc Didio doesn't understand Superman or Wonder Woman and he really has no clue what to do with Wonder Woman nor does he care about her. Didio wanted a stunt with media attention and that was what he got. He cares little for the characters. Johns is making the best of it for the time being but that doesn't mean he likes it. Ask anyone in the know at DC Comics and this is the answer you will get.

Of course, the reasons that Superman and Wonder Woman are together in the new 52 (stupid, cowardly reasons btw) are null and void in the Man of STeel universe.

Clark is in love with Lois in the new 52. He wanted Lois first. He dreamt of marrying her in Morrison's Action Comics. But he was a coward. He never found the courage to tell her the truth or tell her how he felt. He isolated himself when she tried to reach out to him. He pulled away from her out of fear and never told her the truth. Even while dating Diana, he longed for Lois, fantasized about her and continued to obsess over her.

He turned to Wonder Woman in loneliness and cowardice just like Diana turned to him in loneliness and cowardice because she couldn't bear to lose Steve Trevor. (AKA the guy she really loved.) This is how Geoff Johns wrote it. Wonder Woman was on the rebound after a bad break-up from a guy she truly loved but turned her back on. That said, Wonder Woman is a bit sympathetic in the situation. You feel for her.

Of course, it's hard to feel any sympathy for Clark since his problems are of his own making. He chose to isolate himself and he turned away when Lois tried to reach out to him and be close. He pushed her away. Anyone who reads comics or watched 10 seasons of Smallville or watched "Lois and Clark" KNOWS the answer to Clark's problem is staring him in the face. He just has to find the courage to be honest with Lois and take a leap of faith. That's it. That's the solution. But he's cowardly.

All of this is null and void in Man of Steel as Lois knows the truth about who Clark is in that universe already. Not only does she knows....but she accepts him openly and freely with no judgement. She put her life on the line for him and was willing to go to jail for him. Clark does not have to fear keeping the truth from Lois bc she already knows.

The barrier that Clark put up between himself and Lois in the new 52 that drove him to Wonder Woman out of loneliness does not exis in the Man of Steel universe and never will. Bc Clark is not alone. If you read the novelization of the movie it actually SAYS that after he kills Zod. Lois holds him and Clark thinks internally that he was "wrong" to believe he was alone....he's not alone anymore. Lois is there.

Either way, don't assume that Geoff Johns is on the Superman/WW bandwagon. Sometimes what's going on behind the scenes is a much different story.

The New 52 is best enjoyed by pretending that it doesn't exist.

The idea itself of a reboot wasn't a horrible idea in concept. It could have been done well. It just wasn't.

Theoretically speaking, although I adored the Lois/Clark marriage, I would not have been opposed to starting over again at the beginning. It wouldn't have been my first choice because I felt that writers had really let a ton of opportunity slip through their fingers with the marriage. There were so many stories yet to tell that they didn't bother telling. (For example they really dropped the ball with Chris Kent. They never should have gotten rid of him. There was so much more story to tell there with Lois and Clark as adopted parents.)

Greg Rucka planted a seed in his Superman run that Lois and Clark really wanted to try and have a baby biologically. That seed was also dropped which was a really stupid wasted opportunity. If Batman can have tons of adopted children and several biological children there was zero reason why they couldn't have taken some cues from All Star Superman (where Superman did discover the biological means to conceive a child with Lois and then gifted it to her "for their future" after his death) and had the two of them fighting to have a baby.

(Ironically, Lois and Clark do have a child in the new 52 in an alternate timeline. Jonathan Kent. Which sucks bc....everyone waited for years for them to have a baby and now we get it in the new 52. Ick.)

But--all that wasted opportunity aside---the concept of a reboot was not a horrible idea in theory. There is a decent argument that the canon had gotten very complex and that it could be a good thing to start fresh all over again for a new generation. As much as I loved the marriage, I would have been ok with that if it was handled right.

The problem was the execution. Those in charge at DC Comics right now, with rare exceptions, have really little care or regard for Superman. They don't understand him and so the changes made to his mythos were changes that sought to undo everything that made him who he was. The red underwear really had nothing to do with it. Losing them was nothing compared to how horrifically the canon started treating Lois Lane after the new 52.

The leadership at DC Comics viewed Lois as a threat to their agenda and they started treating her accordingly from Day #1. It all went downhill from there.

The idea of the new 52 wasn't horrible in theory. It was the execution that was terrible and has remained terrible with rare exceptions like Superman:Unchained which MIGHt wind up being a good book under Snyder's helm despite the crappy editorial decisions in the new 52.

Russell and Henry seemed to have really bonded! Awww

About the reboot, It's such a huge mess for Superman, a mess on the stories themselves and backstage with all the conflicting ideas and confused writers.
I'm glad this Superman isn't the new52 superman. Is it true that Zach said this himself? I have read some saying he did but I couldn't find the interview.

LOL, yeah.

See? Life is better already. Orwell was onto something.

Exactly! :hehe:

Tell the person I quoted. I don't have a problem with it, regardless of who the decision was made by. Of the stories I read that reference, I haven't disliked any of them a great deal. Superman and Lois will end up together again, why get worked up?

Oh I think he will absolutely get big again for MOS 2, I would guess he might go even bigger.

As for being as cut MOS, he might skip the shirtless scenes for MOS 2 like I said above so he won't need to get shredded but he definitely will get big. He's gotta fill out that suit.
