Every interview with Cavill gets me more excited for the movie. And he's not even hardly saying anything about it.

There was off-the-cuff remark about already starting in Chicago. Has he filmed anything?
I thought that I wasn't hearing things. The interviewer asked him "So you've started shooting in Chicago?" To which Henry nodded yes and you heard "mmhmm". Sounds like filming has officially started folks! :woot: Question is, I wonder if he, himself, has filmed any scenes?

Not that I'm saying Welling isn't big here, he is, this is from 4-5 when he was physically at his most muscular, but he is not wearing an equally baggy shirt, a good way to tell is how it hangs around the hips, if the tail is even all around the waist, it is an unfitted shirt, not designed for body types, whereas the shirt Welling is wearing the tail comes up to his waist, so it is a fitted shirt, which is more inclined to show of physique. As of now, Cavill could still be really muscularly defined, also being 2-3 inches shorter than Welling he only needs to put on 20-30 pounds less muscle to achieve the same definition.

:awesome: Orly? That easy is it, despite body types and all.

I was a little disappointed when I saw the pictures, hoping that he had another aspect, with three months of intensive training gym with proper nutrition you can get a LOT bigger in that time, the only thing that stands out is the shoulders and a little tricep, nothing else, and for me is strange because Snyder loves Big Guys!! But I still say it even without muscle, is perfect for the role, a very cool guy!

Cavill wasn't trying to look big otherwise he would of worn a tight shirt. Does anyone even remember the airport pictures? Also 25lbs in 5 months is pretty much the most a person can pack on without it being mostly fat or with drugs.

No way 25 lbs of muscle mass, other than using steroids like you said or being completely new to lifting the maximum amount one can synthesize muscle tissue is roughly 2 pounds a month so in 5 months that's about 10 pounds. Taking account some inevitable fat gain, glycogen, water, connective tissue, etc. he'll probably be 20+ pounds heavier.

I think he'll look big enough, he should be at the very least the same size as Routh while not having that hour glass upper body which was unfortunately emphasized in the SR suit.

twice now, ive seen him smile before he answers how the script is. I dont know if hes smiling cause its fantastic, or if hes smiling cause he knows what it is and we dont lol....and we keep asking lol

I think it's the latter :p He must get asked that question by every single interviewer. I think i'd start grinning every time I heard it coming too lol

MANIP!

Personally I never thought that Welling ever got to the point where he stopped looking like a college kid. And I'm not talking about having broad shoulders, I mean his face.
But then again I never saw the appeal of Smallville at all.
Not trolling, just saying I can never get those people who bang on about Welling being perfect for Superman. No way.

In fairness he was playing a character 10yrs younger than himself, if not more. They always made him up to look younger, he rarely if ever had stubble, they went with the boy-ish haircut, etc. He looks more mature in real life.

That's a great Cavill pic. I'm not overly worried about his size; look at the airport pics below which were taken months BEFORE he started training. It's clear the shirt he's wearing above is hiding his physique a lot.

Stop being silly, you silly billy. Most humans are the same in proportion, as discovered around 500 years ago, during the Renaissance. Which is why the Vitruvian man applies to most humans, for every 1 inch taller you are, you have to gain around another 10 pounds of muscle to achieve the same definition as someone 1 inch shorter than you as the muscle cells are spread over a larger surface area, but taller people gain muscle quicker. I was just saying, he literally doesn't need to have put on much more than what he did, maybe another 5 pounds.

This is probably my favorite one.....

Just prompted my housemate to show me this, and now I have to share it with everyone :awesome:

I think i'll be using that to illustrate points a lot from now on :p

P.S. Can someone help me understand how to get youtube videos actually embedded in my post... I tried it the normal way and it just won't work!

How do you figure? For BB, Bale went from 120 to 200 in five months. By your theory he gained 10 lbs muscle and 70 lbs fat. How does that make sense? He would've been -- literally -- a fatass.

His body fat was between 15-20%, no more. What he gained was more than half muscle -- something like 50-60lbs muscle in five months. By your logic, he had to do teh steroids. Give me a break. :whatever:

EDIT: An more accurate account:

"Still fresh off The Machinist, it became necessary for Bale to bulk up to match Batman's muscular physique. He was given a deadline of six months to do this. Bale recalled it as far from a simple accomplishment: "...when it actually came to building muscle, I was useless. I couldn't do one push up the first day. All of the muscles were gone, so I had a real tough time rebuilding all of that."[24] With the help of a personal trainer, Bale succeeded in meeting the deadline, gaining a total of 100 lb (45 kg) in six months. He went from about 130 lbs to 230 lbs.[32] He then discovered that he had actually gained more weight than the director desired, and dropped his weight to 190 lbs by the time filming began.[33]"

Like Tom Hardy, Christian Bale also had high body fat aswell as a lot of muscle. Also, he's really dedicated to roles and often yo yo diets. His physique for TDK and TDKR are better, IMO.

This will probably sound a little rude but you do not have the best idea what you are talking about. It's alright though, there is a lot of ******** broscience about weight training and muscle growth, You do not gain "definition" by putting on muscle mass. Definition is a measure of body fat levels. The less fat you have under your skin the more one can see the definition of your muscles. What you are referring to as "definition" is muscular development.

Moreover, it is harder for taller to gain muscle and get stronger in certain muscle groups. Taller people have longer limbs and that puts stress on joints and, as such, they are more prone to injury. Also, to perform one repetition with the same weight, they have make it travel a longer distance and that means a greater workload. They end up having to recruit other muscles to help. Why do you think a tall bodybuilder like Arnold had comparatively less developed legs compared to his friend Franco Columbu who is only 5' 5"?

Moreover, even if people are all largely the same proportions, some differences in structure and proportion can make tremendous differences in the way that one looks and carries muscle mass. You need only follow professional bodybuilding to see it. There are plenty of bodybuilders with comparable heights, weights, and levels of development whose physiques look very different.

However, you are correct that it takes more muscle mass for a taller person to fill out their frame and appear to be of similar development as a shorter person. However, differences in frame and structure can vary things. People with smaller joints and bones tend to look more developed with less actual mass gain.

By the way, any posters who wish to base their arguments in a stronger knowledge of the science of muscle growth and resistance training, visit www.t-nation.com The authors actually know what they are talking about as they are well-regarded professional. Many act as certified strength coaches for universities and professional athletes.
